Great set to start your painting journey with, and in all honesty could quite happily paint with these until the end of time, really depends on how much budget you have to go above them :-D Anyone else had experience with this set?

I got this set as my first brushes, but I didn’t know how to take care of them so they lasted for a few weeks, going to get a new set soon

Completely agree with everything you had to say. These are still my go-to brushes. They are nice enough to use as a daily driver and cheap enough that I don't care much when they start to get messed up, I just grab another one on the cheap. My paint sessions last multiple days and heck if I can be bothered to actually clean them with more than water 3 days straight (and often in between paint sessions as well). I've tried the more expensive Kolinsky brushes and found them to be far, far too weak for my painting habits. I hate swapping out brushes constantly so I always end up edge highlighting some fur or something and then the tip never recovers, $25 down the drain. So I'll stick with this set until I find a reason to swap...and I haven't found a good reason yet :) I think it helps that I don't use them as long as you apparently have and have replaced mine twice in two years. $17 for a years worth of great painting? I'm okay with that! :D

Glad it’s not just me gathering the same opinion. Yeah I over use brushes past their best! And while I have some better (and way more expensive) brushes that I use now, these are definitely the value per $ brush and ones I don’t feel physically sick when I ruin :-D

I'm still learning how to use these brushes made of natural hair.. if you have too little color on the brush it's not good because the tips start to separate from each other.. and if you have too much it's not good again.. the brushes themselves seem to be fine for now

Still the only brushes I have and use. Bought some cheap brushes for basing etc but for painting, the regiment brush does it for me. Have used the insane detail brush in the past but somewhat stopped as I got on further in the hobby and now only use it for really small stuff.

This was my first set - and though my brush-holder is much more crowded these days - I still happily reach for Regie & Insane - both for the brush, and the handle. Thanks again for producing quality vids 👍🏻

I’m still using my insane daily. My regiment has been retired but for the price. I cannot knock the choice. Thanks for your review!

First set I paid for. My SO gifted me a collection of Chinese brushes which are nice, but we've only used two of those; one for washes and another for a large priming brush. Liked them so much I bought a couple we paint with each a set. Downside is that my first Regiment brush snapped when I was trying to get the plastic sheath off. Those plastic bits really stick if you're not careful when you put them back on. Bit of super glue and they work as before.

@@WatchItPaintIt That may be true. :D It was right around the metal, almost like it had broken off inside; had I used it more than a couple of times I would have wondered if perhaps the wood had rotted a bit from water, but having heard so much about respecting your brushes, before I picked up the hobby, I'm good about not letting them sit in water cups, and drying them after use.

Love the 3 set Army Painter brushes but the fine detail brush keeps splitting... and cant keep it fine and pointed for detail work like eyes
@OULARTDUDE
@OULARTDUDE 3 года назад
Sometimes it's honestly much easier to use a bigger brush size that can form a fine tip to do eyes

@@OULARTDUDE yeah, i actually gave up for a while painting. But I started buying the orange tipped paint brushes (sable I think). WAY BETTER BRUSHES. But these are honestly the best beginner brushes in my opinion

Is there any difference between these and the ones in the same sort of pack but different colours ? Army painter brand.
@WatchItPaintIt
@WatchItPaintIt 3 года назад
They have the hobby range which are red/brown. Much lower quality, fine to get started but I’d just skip to the wargamer set. They also have black ones which are essentially the hobby range but for DnD packs. They also do a Masterclass range in black which is their fanciest brushes. Hope this helps
