It has been a few years since we rode the old track. They had just started to erect the thirteen foot pillars that would form the track base. This was then filled with the earth to form the banks that you see today.
What a fantastic job these guys have done.

You have a good set up at Crowborough, we loved our first visit while the lads were building the extension, we just had to come back for another ride. If in the area again we will pop in for another ride. Keep up the good work. Merry Christmas.

Thanks for the excellent video Chris and Rosie! What a great little railway…they’ve really done some hard work setting up the new track track lay-out! However, much as I loved the locos and the lay-out …..the miniature lever signal frame in the signal box was my favourite, it looked beautifully engineered and I should imagine it’s track circuited all the way round too. Very impressive indeed. I was a bit confused when you mentioned the 13 foot concrete beams…or did misunderstand you on that? Are they 13 ft long? Looking at the civil engineering involved I really have to congratulate them on the splendid effort. The ‘posh lady’ recorded announcements were a nice finishing touch…not many miniature railways have such a polished and professional voice to play on the p.a. system! Many thanks again, Rob.

Yes the concrete beams are when placed into position 13' tall..Then back filled with earth to form the landscaped area you now see. If you can find my first video of the railway, which is on here, I believe I did get a shot of the work Rob. It was all waste ground before. Funny you mentioned the signal box, as I never added the shot of the Grimsby one.Grrrrrr! It is like this one and that has the London underground short levered frame. It is a bit longer as Grimsby has more air operated points. The p.a. system is a great way of getting the children to listen to it. Hopefully they do as she says while riding the train..
