miniKORG 700FS - Quick Demo 

Yes, I believe so too, I think from my channel, I spotted someone who has gotten a 700FS and wanted to know how to get the Kitaro sound. Yes, it was disappointing to hear at first when KORG release the demo. Reverbs and Delays can make a big difference! I would think its good for mono-synths as it gives more depth and presence to the sound. The 'Mirco Preset' seems to have a very similar sound to the 700 family. Very nice one too! Unfortunately, I think the general use of delay LFO is to use the pitch mod wheel or joystick. I think KORG has a very intuitive way and naturalistic way of designing synths in the early days where, it was trying to mimic classical instruments. Hence, I believe the delayed vibrato allows user to easily reprecate the wind and string instruments. Also, with the autobender, if you think about the human vocal range and characteristics, sometimes in singing, you would have the slight pitch up before hitting the actual note, or a trumpet or brass instruments. The autobender can also mimic such characteristics.

Very satisfied with this purchase. A fully reliable and more functional 700S! I do not have a direct comparison with the original 700S but comparing to the 800DV, the 800DV has a slightly thinner sound overall. It could be old circuitry etc. Will definitely go for the 800DVFS if there is any! 😜

I would think that it was kept at a certain price point to retain its incentric and historical value. I wouldn't say that the 700FS is for everyone to be honest. Its pretty much a very simple synth to use, no complicated matrix routings unlike synths of the current days

Hi, I have tried briefly on the software version. I vaguely remember that the sound is accurate to the actual 700FS. However, due to latency and the software audio, which sounds abit cleaner and defined (I didn't weigh this into consideration), I would still prefer the hardware version. For the sake that it is just real time, and very responsive when adjusting knobs and sliders. I think they are both very different in their interactions but produce the same sounds.

@@ltpstan Maxi KORG 800DVFS is being reissued by engineers once the parts & components reliably become available or supply chains catch up.I may choose to wait for the reissue

In words I can do it here. For start: - Top traveler at 8-7 position (depending up to 9) - Bottom traveler at 4 position (depending up to 5) - Flip down Sustain Long only - Attack at 2-3 (depending), Singing at 8 - Octave 4', Osc Triangle - Delay vib. turn on (speed 2-ish, depth 2-ish) Again, not all parameters are fixed, different songs, Kitaro tweaks accordingly. You have to expriment yourself. E.g Caravansary has a Short attack (attack 2-ish), more muted sound (top traveler 6-ish), try with the sustain long on and off too. They are subtle differences in the sound.

It's a very good synth overall. Keybeds are good, the filter is resonant and exciting. Second oscillator for modulation is quite wild. Though the sound shaping VCAs are limited in terms of parameters, it is pretty capable of making good sounds. With the new added features like aftertouch, midi in, usb out, cv gate and user assign features on the aftertouch, and joystick, its capabilities are so much more. There are alot more to show about this synth. However, this comes at a pretty hefty price tag for a Mono Synth. If you're a Kitaro fan and plays synths, I think it is right for you..

The sound is close but very far apart in terms of performance. You need 2 independent LFOs for the 800DV patch. The 700S only has 1, they sound is different, also the bender does not have the speed parameter. I would say only the VCA and OSC comes close to the 800DV.

@@missakhaladjian Nice! The 800DV patch is actually simply 2 saw OSC with independent LFOs with a slow decay down on VCA. Once you have that, that is almost similar too.

@@ltpstan Interesting. How is it different? As far as I can hear it sounds very much like my Maxikorg. Where are the differences? Can you please elaborate? Or even give sound examples? 😊

@@henrikgerlach4765 Example, the triangle waveform has a different timbre as well. Most of it sounds the same but the differences are there. I noticed the oscillator sounded cleaner on the 700FS, it could due to new components or electronics. Overall, it just sounds thicker, and cleaner than the 800DV.

@@ltpstan Thanks so much for the clarification. Since you are probably the only one who has the 800DV and the 700FS is it possible to make a side-by-side comparison a little like Starsky Carr (ru-vid.com) does? That'd be absolutely awesome and you'll probably get tons of views. It doesn't have to be that technical but I would love to hear them side-by-side. The oscillators and filters. I'd love to hear what's really different. Also, I try to understand what you mean by "thicker" and "cleaner" since to me it is a bit of a contradiction. The "instability" and "uncleanliless" of a synth usually make its thickness. My 800DV sounds pretty thick. Or is it the bass spectrum that you are referring to?

@@henrikgerlach4765 Sounds like a good idea. I may try to do it but my 800DV for 1 oscillator. I am currently having issues with it and its difficult to find a good experienced tech here in South East Asia. For at least the 800DV, the Square Osc for example just doesnt have that lower end frequency as the 700FS even though the travelers are open. I have not done a proper test but I think at least in my perception till date. 'Cleaner' in a sense, the keyboard trigger doesn't have tuning fluctuations on the 700FS, where the 800DV trigger I believe is a metal wire below the keybed making electrical contacts. If you were to notice slightly, sometimes the initial velocity of the pitch can have a slight drift into the note.
