Minimalist Bullet Journal // 2020 Bullet Journal Set Up and Walk Through 

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a great holiday season. Did you just get a bullet journal or have you been bullet journaling for a while now? Would love to hear some of your all's bujo journeys!

Niffler! I found your last bullet journal video right as I was looking into minimal/strictly practical bullet journal spreads. Your video and Matt Ragland's videos have been very helpful to me as I realized that a pretty bullet journal spread doesn't work for me, even though I definitely like to look at them. It's just taken me a bit to realize that I don't like making them that much. I've also been noticing a lot of the online bullet journalists leaving their bujo behind in 2019, especially if they did a lot of the more decorative spreads. With that, I think I'm going to be very happy with my "boring" bujo in 2019. Thanks for sharing yours!

Thanks for doing this. I think the artistic journals are pretty, but I don't have that skill. Seeing someone else doing a minimal journal is encouraging. 🙂

Really well-done video and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to instruct and share. I wanted to mention that the German company Leuchtturm1917 has numbered pages and a table of contents/index in the front of ALL their notebooks, every size and type, which might save a lot of work. They even make "bullet journal" notebooks with a printed key to symbols/icons. (Leuchtturms are usually slightly more expensive than Moleskine, however they also appear to be slightly larger and better made.) Michael's craft stores also carry inexpensive multi-colored notebooks (about $5) with four pages of TOC up front and about 248 regular pages - blank, dotted, grid and lined versions.

I start doing minimalist last June. I get rid of my massive collection of pens, sticker and wasi tape. I stop doing bujo after that. I really wanna start 2020 with a new minimalist bujo setup. This video helps a lot. Thank you. Good job

I'm with you: I stick to the basics. All my logs are basic Bullet Journal. Since my Bullet Journal is my Golden Notebook - I use it for planning, memory keeping, and longform journal - some pages will have some "pretty". I keep a separate journal for artistic endeavors. I do keep "Collections" in separate notebooks as my collections are basically inventories and I found it easier to keep them together rather than in various Bullet Journals. I didn't begin a new journal in the new year: just happily continuing with the BuJo I began in September 2018.

It isn’t super intimidating I feel the need to be more organized as my life recently has gotten hectic with my ministry as a youth pastor,starting a second job, coaching, and most importantly spending time with my wife. Love your video. There is a thing I do completely differently and it's because I can't be bothered writing out all the days of the month more than once. So in the bit where you do the important tasks for the month, I do the habit tracker and do the important tasks on the next page. I like it ultra simple and you've given me some great ideas with this, thank-you.

I’ve been relying on my Calendar app heavily, so not sure how this Journal is going to work with the calendar yet. But at 65, I’m willing to give it a go. For so long I thought I was the kind of person who liked having a decorative bullet journal but it just took so much time and it just wasn’t what I was about. Seeing how a bullet journal is done here I think you would love the executive size (same size as yours) Rocketbook notebook as you can use a fine point permanent marker to create your forms and then fill them in with the eraseable frixion pens and markers and use a damp cloth to wipe them clean when you are ready to do a new month/week/day, etc. after uploading them to whatever site you would normally store them on like google drive or dropbox, etc. Their various notebooks have a choice of dotted background or lined pages and even some forms. They say they are the last notebook you will ever need since they are damp wipeable clean thousands of times. I just got one a week ago and am now learning about bullet journaling so thanks for the video, it was very well done!

niffler. haha, Finally another guy sharing his bujo stories. thank you for that. Im also doing a minimal bujo. I started out almost the same as you with the steadlers, quickly added the micron pigma pens, but my notebook was a leuchturm instead of a moleskine, that was about 2,5 years ago. Slowly I went even more minimal. I always stuck to the leuchturm now im trying something different with a black Nuuna voyager notebook, For writing I have switched to using a fountain pen with black ink for over a year now (faber castel loom), that's it.

Niffler! First time I saw it...thought it was a platypus. lol This video is great! I'm so glad to find one that's not focused on making it "pretty"! Some of them are neat to look at, but if I wanted to scrapbook--I'd scrapbook.

Something I added to my bullet journal is sticky notes. In Argentina i can't really get my hands on notebooks like moleskins so i use a A5 squared paper hardcover notebook which is actually working fantastic! To add some character to the cover i decided to go for a collage of many of my favorite youtube channels, B1M, school of life, Ted, visual politik, scishow etccc finished with some transparent contact pvc and it looks great. Took advantage of the hard cover and glued 2 different color sets of sticky notes and man was that a good decision.. for now I'm good with using just a 0.1 black drawing pen for everything 👍👍 *_niffler_*

Niffler ~Just found your video after looking for more practical approaches to bujos. I found a lot of stuff doesn't work for me. I am so scatterbrained along other life shizz I never used the index, monthly overview, page numbers or would go months without entries. I love that it can change to suit your needs and there is no pressure to follow a format. I discovered I liked to cram more info into a page because I hate turning pages. I use circles and triangles to distinguish between appointments and events and a smiley face when I was trying to track my mental state for the day. I've made the entire thing very organic and try new formats/uses all the time so it looks chaotic but I don't mind. I've done finance tracking about twice a month which helps me understand where I am with money. I'll also put in writing, stickers business cards and travel momentoes as well as daily areas for eaten meals and water intake though recently I just use it write random stuff down. Love seeing your productive pages and definitely gunna steal that habit tracker.

I LOVE your setup!! Nice and functional. If I use your setup, I might actually use my journal lol! I would love to make it look pretty like so many of the amazing spreads I've seen online but I find that I just don't have the time. Your setup might be the solution for me! I'm going to try it! Niffler! Am just starting out on the bullet journaling idea as computers, phones etc just don't work for me with planning my life (am always reminded at work I should look at my calender more). I like using a filofax notebook, so will try that for bullet journalling along with some custom made templates for my work plans etc, but will keep it all simple. Good luck with your videos and plans.
