Airsoft is the reason for a grown man to have kids. If you have kids, then airsoft fun is acceptable. I had my 13 yr old surrendered once and ask him if he had any last words "the mcrib is back" was his reply. I shot him and then laughed so hard i couldnt breathe. He learned 2 things, being funny wont save you, and never surrender.
That's awesome. My wife and I have been trying for 7 years. I would love to be a father for similar reasons but it's nice hearing good stories like this. Having fun is the most important thing in life. Without fun, you're already dead
In afgan, we ran alot of condor gear, especialy the single and double stack shingle type mag pouches. Still held up better than the issued gear. Have mine to this day, and still use em
Hey, as one those airsofters you're more or less rightfully so giving a hardtime, I just wanted to say that your videos have been a great way to set up my gear to make it comfortable etc and also guns and gear is fun. Shooting bbs on other people is really fun and I'd absolutely love it if you tried it out and made a video. Keep up the good work!
Get a spare carrier to load your plates in for morning cardio with a few empty mags and a couple strategically place 2.5 kg weights. 1. I say "spare" carrier; this is to avoid any excess "funk" in your primary 2. After about a month You'll be used to jogging/running with the added weight and will have built up increased stamina and endurance. 3. The other perk is you'll get used to having your movement infringed to a degree and can make adjustments to your layout/loadout to counter or balance your decrease in overall mobility.
Definitely going to look into this. I built out my first line belt with everything I need right now, so a plate carrier like this is right up my alley for simple ballistic protection. Also, I dig your last minute advice on these videos. Good on ya for helping make well rounded dudes who can present themselves, and present a weapon on target.
When I was an E4 I got back paid 2000 one time, that weekend I bought a mustang and raced it on the weekends till I got out and then sold it to an E2 on base, Great times !
My first night at BMT I did something to attract the attention of the TI. They sent us to chow and I had to fill two water glasses for everyone. I thought for sure KP would be next but it was too late at night. A few weeks later they split up the class and sent half to the chow hall and half to the armory. I got lucky (i guess) and probably cleaned about one thousand M16's that day! It was a long, dirty, smelly day but cool being down in the armory. You learn a lot about a weapon when you field strip, clean and reassemble that many! In 27 years I never did KP once, shockingly.
I'm not sure how many else have done this, but instead of paying the mortgage, I bought a lot of flannel. When the time came I was able to construct a really nice and fashionable structure to live in.
My plate carrier is full front back and sides molly with some velcro. Hard plates in all 4 slots (front/back/both sides) the shoulder straps are much thicker and padded. After seeing your videos I might have to try out a lighter sleeker carrier, see how it feels with no side plates. Lighter, smaller and easier to put on and remove a backpack would be great. Stretchy sides sound great too, I had to loosen my carrier a bit so I could take full breaths and it can shift around a bit now. Great advice for training it it. I trained carrying my bushcraft bag so my shoulders and back wouldn't die when I go on a hike or trip with it. Been wearing my plate carrier out once and a while, nobody says anything or even takes a double glance and I am in Canada where body armor is banned in half the provinces (thankfully not mine). I actually got the idea a bit before seeing your vids when I saw a couple walking a nature trail with plate carriers on about two years ago.
7 loaded mags? I carried 14 on me in Sadr City, plus 1in weapon and 1 on the buttstock. Got down to less than 4 left a couple times. And I was a medic..
How did you have yours set up? I would like to have a set up like that... my philosophy good friends and ammo, they're never around when you need them the most
Thanks again for the awesome content. I've been considering on putting together a plate carrier/chest rig for a while. And also for promoting training. As a instructor I cannot stress it enough.
Plate carrier basics... Small, light, manuverable..ammo, tournaquet, tampons to plug holes...that being said I used a simple front/ back combo for four tours of duty. If I had it to do again I would look at the newer armor that incorporates some type of side armor option. That's how we lost a few of our guys. Ultimately buy what you are actually willing to wear and remove anything that you can do without and place it in a go bag. You'll be much happier.
13:25 in Germany if Someone see you trough the window larping or training inside your room, they mostly call the police. And also mostly the gsg9 comes instead of the police.
Can't believe I never watched this video in it's entirety, considering a) I have the slickster with molle and used in the Stan (side pouches), also used the cummerbund pouches for medical supplies, and b) combat engineers are crazy and we break or destroy everything around us (including ourselves)!
This looks like a good minimalist rig. You can just use side pouches for medical. Then, just use chest rigs over it while running it in slick mode. Make chest rigs for shotguns, PCCs, Rhodesian AK47 Chest Rigs.
I'm larping right now with my III+ and thanks to this video, I learned that my cumberbund is velcro. I just new of the MOLLE. . Time for more pouches... Should probably establish an IFAK too...
YES to the 12B sweating! I'm a medic and the few times I've had encounters with them they are soaked whereas my guys are fine. I had to treat a guy as a heat casualty on a 60 degree day cause he was so dehydrated...I don't get it.
Been using a slickster for the past two years for a work kit. Adaptable and durable as hell. Good shit. I’m glad to see this PC getting more love! Great vid as always
I love the spiritus systems micro fight chassis. I was not a fan of Velcro attachment before trying one but it made me like it a lot. There are actually separate accessories you can also get that allow you to change that Velcro half pouch for a zipper pouch and also a full zipper pouch. That way you can stay quiet and more easily adjust to your needs. Absolutely love that rig.
Ha! 2 things. Saved for a super clean VW Thing for a year. Fell in love with Guns and blew it all on all the things. No regrets. 😎. Fist bump from the 5% and YES take care of your hair! ❣️
Clothing allowances are for RMRs and slide machining, a new Eotech, ammo and training. Last year's uniforms are fine and when others in the unit ETS they'll usually give you thier uniforms. The UA is just a yearly bonus
I got per diem for a month in San Diego but ate at the base galley the whole time and got about $1000 back when I was back in Virginia. Spend $800 on a mattress. It was the only thing in my room. Piles of clothes and a super nice mattress on the floor. No regrets
Based on what you said, it looks like you prefer ceramic over steel plates. I'm looking forward to that review. I've used both and I found they both have pros and cons ranging from price, weight, durability, and protection. I'm not sold on one more than the other.
First paycheck from new job after my conscription: Surfire, Emerson and alot of hive five from friends. Hade to phone mom and dad for money to rent. 13 years later i still get hive five for my well used Mini Cqc 7. High five on that!
I was wondering when you were going to get to hair care. I wear a baseball cap on the range, and I like to be able to fluff my silver hair back into shape after 5 hours of missing targets. Your sense of humor is excellent, as is the content here. :) Seriously, thanks.
love my slickster! I have the slickster.1 (SKD simmer plate cut version) in Multicam Black. I'm a manlet and the swimmer cut carrier fits my body type perfectly and a 10x12 simmer plate is tight, but fits pretty well. Paring it with a SS micro fight also gives the plate carrier extra versatility
How fortuitous, my plates are arriving via the FedEx fairies today. Already got my pc (Shellback Banshee) but enjoyed the vid nonetheless. Thank you Daddy, you da best.
Re: 1 line of mags on the chest As a long gunner I kept all my mags and 1st aid kit and such on my sides A lot cleaner for suckin mud when crawling- less resistance-and a bit lower r/
When tac daddy uploads intime for a bed time story. Greatings from aus, i used my car rego, insurances and my phone bill to buy my first rifle and safe
Mundagunda Garage keep fighting the good fight m8. I heard recently that legal gun ownership down under is on the up big time. I hope thats true, if it is im glad to hear it. Cheers from the states
Damn, you got me with the clothing allowance… I was living at Fort Hood and took a trip down to the casino at Eagle Pass… my clothing allowance actually tripled by playing poker. So I got my Stetson, got some nicer spurs, and grabbed a set of Oakley boots right before they got banned.
Garand Thumb, I have to say that your videos are full of great information coming from wisdom, which is so much better than information from a chairborne ranger. So, thank you for imparting your knowledge to us. You mentioned doing a video on Personal Armor. I wanted to suggest the Level IV RMA Armament Ceramic Multi-hit armor that they have on sale right now for 99.99 per plate. I have some, and have to say the are very well made. I have ABSOLUTELY no affiliation with RMA Armament other than being a very satisfied customer, and have received nothing to recommend them. Thanks again for your content, and I look forward to future publications.
When I was an E-3 everyone wanted a Nissan 350... now that I'm a contractor I've noticed a lot of Cameros and WRXs on base. I was foolish enough to be married so I wasted my money on that instead of a car.
Funny you should mention it, I had a high school teacher that was a combat engineer. His career ended with a parachute malfunction. Doctors told him he would never walk again, now he's in his late 40s, and can do hand stand pushups.
I just upgraded my battle belt setup with my COVID check. Went from a Condor (I know, I know) to HSGI with lots of their pouches to make things more comfy and stationary.
Nothing is really wrong with Condor, just don't abuse their stuff too much, and if you're good at sewing you can reinforce some of the weak spots in certain items. If i got out more often with my gear I'm sure I'd tear it up faster, but I've rearraigned and switched out parts of my kit so many times I'd be broke if I went with more expensive options.
Cool cool, Minimalist Civ/LEO is what I'm looking for reference in that wheel house for art. Being 18 and around the IOTV was a long time ago even though it's like 12 years ago. Like a whole animal, but I want to put in the extra research and supplemental. Infantry journeyman Ironworkers can be madmen too. Fletcher from the Local No 68 would get approval and have us work 14 10 hr shifts for the week before and week of Veterans' Day packing iron.
For my UK guys and contractors, Warrior tactical do a great version of this. It's what I've been running for years and I swear by it. It's pretty much identical to this, low profile and very rugged as well.
If you want cheapish ~7 lb plates, get Chase Tactical (rebranded Highcom) 4S17M multicurve Level IV plates (~$220/plate). If you want cheap light weight (< 6lb) level IV plates, get RMA 1192 ($700/plate). If you want expensive extremely light weight (~5 lb) level IV plates, get Hesco 4800 ($1200/plate) or RMA 1199 (if you don't care about multicurve). Hesco 4600 use to be the gold standard, but it lost its NIJ certification earlier this year. The disadvantage of the latter three is that they aren't on the NIJ CPL list (www.justnet.org/app/tims/CPLReport.aspx). I personally value the NIJ certification because it ensures quality control batch to batch due to random retesting. Either 10x12 or Medium SAPI will work for most normal sized men. Just make sure your plate carrier fits whichever plates you buy. Multicurve plates are more comfortable. Single curve plates aren't terrible though. Flat plates are probably awful, but I haven't used them. Don't buy steel armor: bullet fragmentation, bullet bounce, heavier than even the heaviest ceramic plates, doesn't protect from common 5.56x45mm rounds (especially M855A1) even in level III+ rating, isn't really all that much cheaper than ceramic. You will hate steel as soon as you put it on. Go with Level IV because level III doesn't protect from high velocity 5.56x45mm rounds like SS109 and M855 and M855A1. Level III+ is not an NIJ rating and varies company to company and usually only provides protection from *either* SS109 *or* M855, not both, and rarely M855A1. Some Level III+ plates are NIJ certified to Level III and independently tested for special threats, but you're taking the company's word for it at that point and the special threats are sometimes tested at lower than usual velocities that are only realistic at certain distances or from very short barrels. Level IV is not specifically tested to stop M855A1 that I know of, but most level IV plates seem to stop it from the info I have found. If you want NIJ certified level IV multi curve plates, your options become very limited, especially if you want something light.
@Riflemanm16a2 Unfortunately I got level iv plates a while ago from ar500. They’re nij.06 certified but AR500 is horrible at customer service and their plates are 8lb. Sooo kinda shitty but in the future I’ll probably go for expensive light hesco plates. Thanks for the advice 👍🏼👍🏼
@Riflemanm16a2 No matter what, avoid ar500. They’ve sent me a damaged carrier before. And their customer service team took months to get back to me. Also if you call them, they’ll put you in a queue and you’ll get disconnected half the time.
@@Teddy_______ Yeah, man, I've made that mistake twice. I bought from AR500Armor.com back in 2013 when it was a relatively new company (lead time was four months), and I was never satisfied with what I got. Then last year, I found out level III is effectively useless against an AR15 (I didn't do much research in 2013) and thought I should get their new level III+ plates. Their new plate carriers also looked a lot better than the crappy Condor carrier they bundled with my order the first time. I got the Veritas with level III+ plates, which again took four months to arrive. The front pouch of the plate carrier was half an inch too short so it wouldn't fit the plate. Customer service took two months to reply to my email, and it took an additional two months for the replacement to arrive (so my order from Black Friday wasn't complete until July). What was wrong with your carrier if you don't mind my asking? Was it also a measurement issue? I recently bought the 4S17M plates from Chase Tactical, and I'm pleased with them (lead time was only 4-5 weeks). 7.2 lb/plate is still heavy, but they are noticeably lighter than my 9.3 lb steel plates.
@Riflemanm16a2 Ya I have a veritas and a testudo from them. And the veritas definitely doesn’t fit their level 4’s. And the testudo is super mediocre but it fits the plates I guess. I ordered a jpc 2.0 a while ago and it’s finally supposed to ship on the 14th this month.
Researching Armor. I'll return for my 2nd Deg. 1 st B.S. I've selected a System all concealed: Soft on the body and one lvl III in 3V Gears 3 Day Tac Pack. We can't be armed on campus and at some point probably do Grad Studies after. I'm gonna be on Campus for a long time - possible life. But hey to me life w/ no Physics = Hard Time! lol
I hope the next video IS about armor. Iv'e been curious about if my AR500 plates are the best option for my plate carrier. Iv'e heard more reasonable points about the ceramic plates.
Jay Jacobs If your a small man or "average" maybe ar500 is too heavy for you. For me 6'2 200+lbs Ar500 ain't shit. And Ar500 will withstand x10 longer, easily.
@@RyanTomScott Arent Ceramic plates notorious for breaking when dropped on a hard surface or slammed against something? Pretty sure ours said do not drop on them. Those were PointBlank Armor or whatever...I have never looked at the brand, they were just issued to us.
No, engineers make you babysit an IED for 6 hours until they finally creep up to clear it. Between calling EOD, and trying to get air support on a dusty/foggy day, I don't know which is worse.
It's really nice when RU-vid gear reviewers to disclose there professional background to some extent, and saying that the true viewers that trust that you have tested products guys and gals may trust in a time of need as you do arent focused on the most high speed titles because testing is testing, but it would be cool to know your US Airforce background or at the least your current/retired MOS
