Make sure it comes with a working memory card. I got lucky and found an older 64GB card that works. At 24FPS/raw I get 18 minutes of recording time. You will also need a cage for it to attach a larger external battery or batteries. By the time you're done, it will no longer be a pocket camera, but it's worth it. Something really nice about the images it captures.
Right on! I don’t suggest rigging it up. To mezcal it’s not worth the investment. The camera will die quicker than newer models. However, I wish they would redo this camera for 2023! Thanks for sharing brother!
I got a *Sabrent 256GB V60, SDXC UHS II* ...card 😄 for around 95€ It can record: 42min DNG 2hrs14min ProRes HQ 3hrs20min ProRes 422 4hrs46min ProRes LT 10hrs28min ProRes Proxy Got a 96wh powerbank *XTPower XT-27000DC-PA* with 5-24V out for around 120€ Remove original battery if inside. Set the powerbank to 12V out. Lasts forever. Now that I've shared this, uhm, can anyone tell me which firmware version contains the blackmagic raw update if there is one? The blackmagic support page is more of a mess than I am and that is saying something 😂
Bro, the OG was a cinema camera WAY ahead of it’s time - released too early. A time that it was very rare that any average consumer knew the benefits of ProRes or RAW, let alone LOG profiles. Fast forward to the fact affordable and sharp 12-25mm MFT lenses are now available and RAW-ish/+10-BIT is more abundant. Suddenly, the OG is popular. I wouldn’t be surprised if BM releases re-issued version of the OG with the same Fairchild sensor and only minor changes is efficiency like power and a stronger HDMI port lol. They would fly off the shelf’s.
@@captureinsidethesound This is the hope that they will re-release an updated version. I can’t remember where but I believe I’ve read they never plan on doing it. However if they do I will be one happy camper!
Bmpcc nerds! Omg I just got one and I have one question: What's the firmware version that has the blackmagic raw update if there is such a thing? Can't get my DNG to not be all chopped up and mutilated. Thanks in advance!
Hey there, right now they are still in the manufacturing stage. If I get enough demand I’ll mass produce them. Right now I’m the only one with the cage. I’ll keep you updated.
@@CodyScott Cool. I have a couple of OGs, one with the SmallRig 2012 and the other with Wooden half-cage and always looking for alternatives. Would love to see your cage (hint hint, video?) since I also want a lighter setup at times.
@@CodyScott Thanks for the answer. So far I have tested more than 5 memory cards. Among them, a Sandisk Extreme Pro 512 GB micro SD with adapter, the Kingston SDS2 Canvas Select Plus 128GB, and the Lexar 256GB. None worked :/ I await your return with new suggestions! thanks!
Hey brother, I don’t have the Camera anymore. But I went to Best Buy and purchased batteries that are usually for the Nikon cameras. That’s exactly what I did
I am missing a cage for mine. And you can't buy any online anymore. Have to get lucky and find a used. The 14mm Panasonic lens is tiny and I use it for stills a lot. But it came with the pocket I found used years ago.
Hi Cody, amazing work with this video. I used to have one of these back in 2019 and now i think to get one again, the emotion of this sensor is really amazing. My power supply was external battery, but this time i want it super simple only with the 20mm 1.7 lens. My question is how long you can use the camera with one of these 1200 mAh batteries. Do you think that i will have around 2 hours shooting time with 6 of these? Thank you.
Hey Angel, I hope all is well. I used the stock battery and got a full day of shooting from it. However, I shot only what looked good and I turned the camera off in between. With your battery, you’ll get 60-90 minutes more than likely. Enough for an all day shoot.
@@CodyScott The battery in my BMPCC only lasts for about 30-60 seconds I have a Feelworld F6 monitor with power output(8.4v). The camera is supposed to have an input voltage of 12v to 18v - not a 8.4v. But it works very well
The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera OG (2012) does not have a MFT sensor but its does use a MFT mount. It's a Fairchild 12.5 x 7mm senor. MFT is 17.3 x 13mm. Also, Blackmagic stop using these very film-like sensor's and that's why i've not upgraded to the BMPCC 4K.
Great vid. I love this camera. I have the Smallrig cage. I wish I'd got the 25mm, though the Rokinon 12mm is good. By the way it was Captain America the Winter Soldier!
@@CodyScott it is easier to operate than i expected. I wish it had some quality of life stuff like deleting files in camera or transferring files out of camera via thunderbolt cable. the ef mount is awesome with my canon lens. the crop factor doesn’t bother me, or 30fps max, or no 4k, or weight. my first and probably last cinema camera.
@@CodyScott i had a 10-18 canon efs that was ok, only good for heavy walking vlogs. But, pair the sensor with a canon 35 f2 or an adapted leica r, and maaaaannn……..the cinema is ours. #cameraconspiracies
Hey there, Jose. Thank you so much. I’m wrapping up a client meeting at 9:45am. Once I wrap up here, I’ll get those links added to the description for you. Cool?
Great video. I am interested in the OG cage. Also, which model is the Lowepro bag exactly? It links to something different in amazon Canada. Is it the Adventura SH 100 II?
Hey there thank you so much for sharing! I do have one more video planned. However, my pocket cinema camera stopped working. so I will be doing a video relative to that subject. I am absolutely loving the FX three and I have some stuff coming out soon. I hope you’re having a wonderful day today.
@@CodyScott ahh man that's a bummer regarding your pocket. I just shot a heap of stuff on the bmmcc in Abu Dhabi and just need to get into the edit. Would live to get your thoughts when completed. Looking forward to the fx3 content.
Super miniliest...and its not micro.4/3 its super 16 bro..great image bot worth the sensationalized original..its..700 on ebay which is a joke..i mean image is great ..but 1080 30p and no conteols only prores...its got so.many flaws..battery the worst..but vids like ur seriously make an origianl 700.bucka.for a 300 camera thats 10 years old
