NOTES :
** Everett takes less than an hour to do his fun, simple, schooling. Brie takes about 2 hours and Lorelai 2-3 hours. Sometimes we stretch this our with breaks but it doesn't take long to do our daily schooling.
This is how we inexpensively and simply schedule out what the kids are doing for the day for school work. My kids LOVE this because they like to see their tasks laid out before them.
They enjoy the freedom of just getting their work done themselves, it helps build that independence. We do history and science together and I help them as needed with any other subjects.
Here is our daily rhythm blog post for Summer 2017 : saltytribe.co/...

I. Love. This. Can I please tell you - we are starting homeschooling this year and I have been utterly overwhelmed by everything. This morning I set out to find the perfect "planner" online... have you ever Googled this? Yikes. Thank you Lord, for leading me to this woman and her blog/vlog/website. Jane, you're amazing. I love everything you're doing. I've been searching for something just like this but haven't been able to find quite the right fit until now. THANK YOU. Keep up the amazing work - it's sooooo valuable! (Especially the very simple/common sense stuff, it's so refreshing!) Thank you thank you thank you!

Thank you so much for this video! We started doing this last week after watching this video and it’s working really well. I think it helps DD see what she needs to do and when she can take a break. We’re trying to do 2 or 3 blocks of homeschooling a day. For example, I list, “Block 1: Teaching Textbooks lesson 18, Teaching Textbooks quiz 2, handwriting lowercase cursive s, and writing worksheet.” Block 2 might be, “Mom read science, narration, and Mom read The Wish Tree.” Block 3 is for history, science or art projects.

I am super excited to hear/see what you've discovered in that Dyslexia realm. My eldest is mildly dyslexic and I'm inundated with "resources" that causes more stress at times. So glad I found your channel. 😊

We use a similar method and it works really well for us! My son loves it! He always for me to write it out. We actually use a notebook that allows us to rip it out the page but this is a great way to keep them all together!

I just found your page and am in love!!!! You are an answer to prayer for a new 1-year in homeschool momma that is having a heck of a time creating my own homeschool curriculum that's not so in the face of my son who really struggles. BTW- I love that you use Dave Ramsey! My hubby and I just paid off our debt using his program. ;) definitely planning to use that this year. You have a definite follower in Minnesota. Thank you so much!

Girl you definitely have to do a video on the bullet journaling!! ;) I feel like this is something I've been doing forever before it was a "thing" but idk lol. I ABSOLUTELY know fancy journals are not for me and I learned my $50 lesson once too ha :/ Also, the dyslexia video will definitely be interesting and helpful! :)

What a blessing this video is! Thank you! Two questions- 1-how did you make that dream of moving to the beach a reality? I'm in a similar boat. 2-how do you edit your thumbnail? Beautiful!
@SaltyTribeCo
@SaltyTribeCo 7 лет назад
Hey Autumn! 1. We knew that to move here, my hubby would either need to transfer and we live close to the beach but not on the island. OR he would need to get a job that allowed us location autonomy. So he went back to trucking over the road. Then, even though we were already minimalists, we sold almost everything else! And moved! We lived in a hotel for a couple months, no plan. Just prayer. Then found a house and miraculously got approved for it. Rental not owning. 2. Photoshop! I am a professional photographer and I used to do graphic designing for companies as my day job. :-)

Would you be willing to do a review of Math U See? I've been homeschooling for a while but still struggling to find something we jive with for math.

I would love know more about your vegan lifestyle (I am transitioning to it now) and did I see "Dave Ramsey Personal Finance" in one of the bullet journals? How do you incorporate that?
@SaltyTribeCo
@SaltyTribeCo 7 лет назад
Oooo YAY on the vegan transitioning! Yes, we do Dave Ramsey mostly on Fridays, just one lesson. The girls both do the homeschool middle school version and my son sometimes does the kids version.

How does the Good and the Beautiful LA curriculum work for your son? I ordered level 1 for my 7 year old boy who can read, but he is reluctant. I'm wondering what your experience has been? I started Abeka in kindergarten, it was way too many worksheets and too much in general. We switched to All About Reading we are now on Level 2, but it seems to be moving so slowly and also he doesn't like how involved it is. Also, spending 20 minutes on that, then adding in a spelling program, plus grammar and writing makes things so complicated. He gets overwhelmed with it all. He is moving into 2nd grade ish work, but I thought level 1 seemed a good fit for him. Any thoughts on your experience would be great!

So with my son, who is 6 and can read, we do not do a lot. At all. He's very active and sitting for long language arts lessons does not work. We do handwriting and copywork more than G&B. BUT after we hadn't done it for a week, he specifically asked for it. He wanted to master the word lists! We did AAR & AAS and it was a no-go for us. Too tedious and everyone was in tears. Me included. Schooling boys is a new thing for me since my eldest two are girls. A better late than early is our approach. I hadn't planned on doing any type of curriculum like this with him until he was 8. He prefers mostly being read to. A LOT. He loves listening to stories! We don't focus on writing at his age because I think it frustrates him. He will often draw something [anything he wants] and then dictate to me what it is about. Then I write it for him. As he gets older he will do more writing but I'm not rushing it or doing a curriculum with him on that. We don't do any spelling. We just work on getting him loving literature and slowly using G&B to get the grammar.
@shelleymattson4243

My son at 7 still has a hard time sitting for lessons as well. I'm hoping we can try the G&B lessons and keep them short. We will see. My son loves to be read to as well and he loves listening to audio books, that was one reason I got the G&B history for this year. Hopefully we can tailor it to fit him and not be too much. Thank you for your response.

Shelley Mattson I have daughters but your description of your son is my daughter and what we've done so far for her schooling. So far the short lessons are a win for her. She literally dances in place while we school! Hope it works out for you guys ❤
