Loungewear is the hardest for me to minimize because it is my first go to when I don't wanna give something away but don't wear it out. I'll keep it to "kick around" in when I know myself well enough to know that on days I don't do anything I usually just wear the same outfit I slept in so there's really no need to have a bunch of clothes to "wear when you stay home." I'm doing the exact thing right now! Staying home today. Did I go to my lounge wear drawer and wear an outfit from that? Nope. I'm wearing the t-shirt I slept in... I'm the worst.
Thanks for sharing your experience, I completely understand and was the same way! Marie Kondo talked about that in her book. She said that the clothes we wear affect our self-image, even if no-one sees them. She recommends not downgrading clothing that doesn't spark joy to lounge wear for that reason. She also mentioned how entire stores are dedicated to producing really nice loungewear so why not find something that makes you feel great even when nobody is watching. That was what inspired me to actually purchase some dedicated pajamas / loungewear. I found it did in fact boost my confidence too =)
+Yummy Inspirations Lifestyle Yes, it is pretty cozy :) I'm still trying to find the right balance between chic and cozy, but comfort always comes first I suppose. Thanks for watching!
I have 2 pair baggy fit rayon black pants. I call them house pants but I also wear them to sleep in. I also have 2 pair of black capri loose fit leggings for summer heat. I use them for everything from exercise, sleep, chores. I actually sleep in tshirts depending on weather.
+Simple Full Thanks for sharing! I think lounge wear that can be used for work outs and sleeping is a win win. I would like some black leggings for this very reason :)
I usually buy black or grey pajamas at Etam, they have a great selection. I especially love their tops, I currently have a black top with a white elephant and a grey top with an owl :)
I love Icebreaker Merino wool pants and leggings. They always look new and are great for loungewear or as layering pieces when I travel. Think "new age" long johns! I keep several long and short sleeve tee shirts in the capsule that can be used as loungewear and layering pieces, or alone. I've stopped thinking of pj's and loungewear as a separate class of clothing. Everything is in the capsule and gets rotated into daywear, evening wear, and nightwear, which makes traveling even simpler.
I hope to get a pair of leggings soon. You are totally right about the pjs /loungewear. Some pieces work very well for both. T-shirts and leggings also work for exercise as well =)
Yes, mustn't forget the exercise! On my last big trip, I took one carry-on bag that was packed rather lightly for a one month trip. It included rail travel, a cruise, and stays in a couple of hostels. I was covered for exercise, too. The nicest thing about Merino wool is that it doesn't encourage odors to form, and handwashing in shampoo provided by the trains & cruise line every couple of days was simple because it dries overnight. The other travel secret is 'pantiliners'. >^;^
