Just don’t cook anything with tomatoes in your cast iron for any length of time (such as making tomato sauce). It will give a metallic taste to your food.
A couple alternatives to body lotion that have worked for me: a) body oil, b) raw cocoa butter, which comes solid but melts with body heat. Are the caraway pans ceramic nonstick? Those do die after a couple years, and they tend to do so abruptly.
Natural polyesters and a few synthetic polyesters are biodegradable, but most synthetic polyesters are not...Synthetic polyesters are used extensively in clothing..
I really don't want to sound critical because I'm sure you have your reasons, but why not get a second hand juicer from the thrift store? There must be lots out there for small prices.
The ones I see in the thrift store are usually the kind that sit on the counter and collect the juice around the edges, instead of having a mechanical advantage like the one she has. Many of the thrifted ones are also plastic, although I managed to find a glass one. I will say i've never seen a plastic one actually break, but plastic does wear into your food and leech, so not super ideal.
My husband is very much into cooking with cast iron. We have recently been making pizza which we think has pizzeria quality and extremely cost effective. Can you do another vlog on what you eat/cook in a week? Would be interested to see the meals you come up with from your CSA.
Thanks. I bought a bunch of tangerienes for a pizza potluck party and no one touched them (including me 😆 ). I didnt think to juice them, as i generally dont want to just eat citrus. Thanks!
Hello. There is a very convenient way to crush citrus fruits with a tablespoon. cut in half insert into halves and squeeze around the spoon, turn the spoon and squeeze again! try.
Love the shoes! However, there is no way that paying over $200 for a pair of shoes is in my budget (I am in Canada, so the exchange for $195 US would be well over $200 🥲) I usually pay around $50 CDN. I know my shoes are not as sustainable; however, being a senior on a fixed income limits my choices. But keep on sharing, Rebecca. 😊 I still love your videos. ♥
I can sympathize! I don't have a $200 budget for shoes, and what budget I have is called my "shopping" budget, so it includes all clothing and not strictly necessary purchases, except for gifts. Instead of being able to buy sustainable, ethically made shoes, I make sure I buy shoes that will get worn until they look like they're falling apart and fit like a glove. It's been especially important to me that I only buy wide width shoes and can try them on first, and those are even harder to find ethically.
I've noticed that you record in Stereo - Your voice is higher in the left earcup. It's so annoying with headset - Could you have a look into it in the next videos? :)
Have you tried the OSEA body oil? I have really dry skin and have alway used tons of body lotion. I tried the body oil with low expectations and absolutely love it. It lasts a long time.
I agree if you carry a mobile phone, which is an essential these days (I deliberately didn’t have a mobile for years) then you don’t need a watch. However, the Nord watch you have chosen looks really nice. I really admire the amount of research you do before you purchase things, Rebecca.
Ok we need a citrus juicing vid! I own a big fancy citrus juicer that is tough to clean and tough to store. Maybe I’ll switch to your hand held juicer🧐
Your videos are my favorite! Love your take on life and love hearing about your life! Thanks for sharing with us and giving us some great recommendations. Looking forward to more vids. Welcome home btw!
Nice shoes. Nice pan. I bought my sister an Always Pan. It gets great reviews for all around use. It hasn't been around as long as your cast iron has so you can't compare. Based on what it cost, I hope it lasts that long. Good move on the CSA.
