In my experience, if you’re more brutal in areas you aren’t obsessed with, it frees you up to hold on to more of what you are obsessed with. For example, I also love palettes. So I just allow myself to and not feel guilty about having more palettes than one person needs. I make room for them by acknowledging I really only use one concealer anyway, so I don’t need 12 of those. Or primers, or bronzers.
I made an inventory of my makeup and skincare collection last night and was absolutely shocked by the number of items I have. Its definitely jarring when you write the number per category on paper. :-O
These decluttering videos break my heart. People spend all this money to buy these things and then they don't even use them. I wish that those things go to a charity for women who don't have enough money to buy things like makeup or to friends who will use them.
Most youtubers who do decluttering videos usually give their makeup to family and friends as long as the products aren’t expired. Unfortunately most women’s shelters and donation banks don’t take opened makeup :(
Luntik Funtik Right?! I went thru a phase of buying all this makeup because of these makeup collections on yt and trying to find out what works for me. And now a lot is going bad, even with me giving a lot away to friends and family. I enjoy declutters because it reminds me to keep/buy what I need and use what I have. To prevent myself from over buying, I have these acrylic drawers, and if I can’t fit it in there, I won’t buy it.
Try a weekly makeup basket, where you pick out one foundation, one powder, one mascara, etc that you’ll use for the week. Some do it for a month. Have the “ basket” ( you can use a tray or something easy) have its own space, that way you rotate out week to week and don’t have to go into those acrylic drawers every day. There’s a lot of RU-vid videos about weekly makeup baskets
I would really love it if you did a “saved items per category” video - talking about and comparing tinted moisturizers, for example, showing how they apply and the finish while telling us why you decided to keep them. It would be great 👍🏽 p.s. the Diptyque perfumes keep perfectly and never ever go off for YEARS xx
Easiest way to keep your makeup collection under control is to refuse first. I'm so so picky about what I buy. I have to absolutely love it and I never buy something in the same category I already have. When I want to try something out, I use up what I have in that category.
You could do makeup tutorials with the palettes you kept, like 3 different looks with the same palette, that would be cool to watch. Also, I love your hair in this video, how did you get that sightly wavy look? With a curling wand?
I always do a major decluttering every year or so and it pains me to throw or give away makeup items that I used to love lol. My collection was getting out of hand, and now I curated it to contain products that I pretty much always use!
I’ve just bought a brand new naked palette as I’d heard it was being discontinued. I bought it from a reputable company on line and was so happy to get a replacement- sure my original is about 7 years old!! Only problem is I feel sentimental about the original one!x

You did very well! I remember getting rid of my naked palette and it was hard. But what’s the point in keeping things when you don’t use them. You’re basically just storing them for no reason 🤷🏻♀️

I'm also so upset about the Kiehl's perfume! It's my favourite one ever and took me a few years to get through a big bottle, but then when I went to repurchase it, they'd discontinued :(((

I wouldn’t say this is SUPER minimalistic, but who am I to judge bc I have my one foundation, eyeshadow, blush, mascara, concealer, lip gloss and that’s about it. SUPER PROUD OF YOU THO!!
Watching this makes me happy and sad at the same time - happy because I absolutely love watching declutterung videos, but sad because you're throwing out a lot of makeup and I can't stop thinking about my sister who would absolutely die to own some of these products 😢
I think I've only ever had a couple of perfumes go off, I keep mine covered and in a cool dry space in my wardrobe, not in the sun. I know the bottles are pretty to display but the sun is not their friend :(

Hi , I enjoy a good declutter but over the past year I have cut my makeup by half , all my drug store makeup and skin care has been passed onto my family , now I can see and use all my high end products , I have an Alex nine drawer and when I open a drawer I can see and use my beautiful makeup , I must say all my skin care are high end but stored into my bathroom , my makeup now when I open a drawer I smile as I love every products I have , my lipsticks are Charlotte tilbury nude collection, Estée Lauder pink collection and only one red benefit ruby whoo , but I only wear at Christmas , but my very favourite collection is my Charlotte tilbury , my weakness is all her quads and three holiday palettes along with every other item she has produced , and my Estée Lauder drawer almost on par with charlottes , my complexion products are a mix of both brands , Eyeliners and brow products are a mix of both brands , however now I can open a drawer and select a product without needing to search , now they are there to see and use . I was worried the expiration dates just would overtake my collection but no I am very lucky to use all I have . Please everyone I am a mature lady we start somewhere so just enjoy , my love liz x
