Is it possible to reverse the horizontal arm on the feeder, i.e, end for end? If so, it may help alleviate the problem of the motor hitting it when using the shaper. With the arm then being on the near, or left side of the mount, it's angle would be reduced. Great video's by the way.
You probably dont give a shit but if you're stoned like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all the new movies on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my gf for the last few weeks :)
Thanks for the detailed video. I am about to deploy the exact same model (36-850) on a table saw I will dedicate to dado operations. Do you know if Delta ever offered a longer horizontal column that could increase the max. distance from mounting base to feeder?
Michael, I don't really know if Delta ever offered the option of a longer horizontal arm, but it strikes me as unlikely. Actually, the last time I looked, that specific model of stock feeder was no longer available. Best of luck with your project.
@@sunnybeeches8534 Thanks for getting back to me. Meantime, figuring that the longer arm was not available, I've devised a laterally mobile mount that will allow me to slide and then securely fix the fully assembled feeder anywhere, left to right, on the back rail of my machine fence, which is a custom setup I typically retrofit to almost all of my machines, whether stock or cannibalized Frankensteins of my own creation.. The key is a heavy-duty T-slot extrusion that was the heart of an innovative system I patented and briefly manufactured 30 years ago. If curious, you can see the system at www.michaelschuler.com/Tech. I still sell my super-straight extrusions and bypassable stops, etc. on a passive basis, mostly to legacy customers of the modular system, but there are many cool setups that guys make with it, especially taking advantage of the fact that, unlike 80/20, my extrusion design includes an internal spline component that allows two pieces of extrusion to be precisely end-joined without obstructing any of the four T-slots. Anyway, I think it will allow me to get the most out of this little 36-850 feeder in a very convenient manner. I am marrying a little table saw with a cast iron router table in a typical side-by-side configuration, the intention being that the saw will be used exclusively with either dado or molding head, while the router will be used mostly for edge profile and stick work. I'm pretty sure I will not need to disassemble the feeder as you do, but rather just loosen the Kipp handles that secure it to the T-slot rail, and slide it. Worst case, it seems I might want to reel the feeder in fairly close to the vertical column, in order to shorten the cantilever and reduce the effective weight a bit.
If that Delta brand feeder has the same diameter horizontal beam as Felder you can buy a longer piece from them. Some of those feeders all use the same parts. There might be a larger stand and larger dia beam out there.?? I used to have the larger stand and longer beam from Felder. Felder just sells the same size and mfg but marks up the price considerably!!
