I have a Model D reissue (and 3 other Moogs) as well as a black Sledge. The Sledge is a great value synth for the $. I've programmed at least a couple hundred custom patches on it, and I use it live regularly . . . but with all due respect, it cannot come close to matching the raw power of a Model D.
I've always heard people talk about that Model D sound and it justified the price... and I never heard it. It just never sounded THAT much better than a synth that was 1/8 the price... and it's so bare bones compared to newer synth abilities.... well, I heard it. Wow! NOW I get it :) Amazing playing!
I always think I have the sound nailed in my software .. till I hear a real one. After 30 years of not owning one you tend to forget. P.S. dig the lighted pitch/mod wheels mod on the older one 👍
Great Video and Nice Sounds Brother! Got a questions maybe you can help me with. How to use as External Effects Processor? Long time moog fan new virgin moog owner :D I recently bought the new reissued minimoog model d, and I would like to use it as an external effects processor but not sure how to do this. I am on Logic Pro X, can you tell me how this is done from actual hardware wiring to software i/o setting I would greatly appreciated. I saw you were using it with the Korg
You know, you'd be an internet hero if you did a side-by-side comparison of your old Model D with the new one. Do you think you might be willing to consider doing that for the people?
tanx for this fantastic video, i had a lot of problemes with the sub 37 or the Voyager, do you think that monster is as fragile as the other recent models?? Tanx for you answer
This is awesome!!! I just ordered a Minimoog!!! :-) SO in that last section with the added drum/bass sound is that from the moog too? I'm just a baby mooger
Considering every mini sounds slightly different from one another, is there any real difference of sound between the original and the reissue? ( not really from what I hear) and is it a bit more stable oscillator-wise?
before giving a final judgment i have to compare the main versions of mini (old and new oscillator boards),however the Reissue has many extras and sounds great, the only remarkable difference in sound that i found it's the noise circuit, oscillators are very stable!
Great movie. Can you show how to connect properly Minimoog Model D Reissue and Korg SQ1. I have no experience and do not want to damage anything? I will be grateful for your help.
mine is on order for mid-september est. deliver. You should have uploaded this in 720p or 1080p :) Thanks tho! Your thoughts on the differences between vintage and re-issue? Probably difficult to estimate because they all have their own fingerprint.
As soon as he plays the original mini you get that instant excitement thing happening. Somethings just not quite right with the reissue. But it does sound fantastic.
Listening with headphones, there is a bit of stereo effect to the audio. Also a bit of delay. Certainly not part of the new Minimoog? That is the only drawback with old analog synths: one has to purchase more outboard effects hardware or add effects to the track after the fact.
osc3 is set to 2' ,square waveform, osc modulation switch off, filter modulation switch on,filter emphasis 7,filter cutoff to your taste, moving modulation wheel back &forth tunes the vocalize
a big big big difference !!!! the vintage have so much balls! the lowend is amazing ! listen this bass!!! it so powerfull and....drive you immediately in heaven !! where the castrated reboot have no character! no identity! it stay flat in all situations to finally block you in this big traffic jams 😂 but finally yeah ! we can say it now !! arturia VSTI sound identical maybe better to this new neo analog hardware synth! 👉clean, straight, bright and precise with no variations! (S number 00034 sound 100% identical to S number 01258) 😧
Andres gualtero sub37 ! It's half of the price of the minimoog and deserve better subs for house. You should research a roland juno60, old synth, for house it's the best bass sound
My Re Issue does not come close to my 1973 Mini - Maybe in 40 odd years but even then it has that Fatar keyboard and digital mod wheel's..Firmware horrible. I take Vintage ANY DAY .
PDS I agree Vintage ANY DAY.. but if you want to fix Firmware and add good features to the Reissue consider to buy the amazing Muse:www.virtual-music.at/en/moog/
I don't see why this $3,500 Minimoog costs twice as much as the far more advanced and sophisticated Moog Sub 37 ($1,499). I mean it's got nice wood and all, but not hearing anything that sounds twice as good as Sub 37.
that's because the model D IS the model D and it's finally back. why did it take so long? some dicrete components were not available anymore, and yes, they were crucial to get back to that signature sound. The model D is not for sophistication, but for cojones and power.
that's because there's nothing else like a minimoog model D. They had to find someone to recreate old discrete components in order to get THAT sound (very much sought after by many musicians, producers, fetishists....) wether you like modern or vintage is a question of preference....... It's expensive indeed and ebay prices for an original are going up to 9k nowadays........
