@PhotographersOnUTube Defenitely will do! I have no idea about this rule before watching your show. Thank you for the tutorial and goodluck! Hope to see more tuts from you and subscribed!! :)
FIRSTLY !! thank you very much for getting back to my comment mate, appreciate that. i would just like to say that you are VERY informative when it comes to photography, i am looking to get my first DLSR, but i am doing my homework first. RU-vid..your videos are doing Exactly what you hope them to do !!. HELPING PEOPLE UNDERSTAND HOW PHOTOGRAPHY WORKS FROM THE CAMERAS ANGLE. TOP MAN, TOP MARKS ..NIKON OR CANON ? HARD QUESTION.
Tell you what mate . YOU ARE SO INFORMATIVE :-) this might sound stupid, but i am learning as much as i can about photography and setting ect, even before i pick up my new camera. had the thing weeks, but only took 8 pics. i want to fill my head with as much info as i can, and learn to UNDSERSTAND !!! before i pick it up and just press the shutter.LOVE YOUR VIDEOS BY THE WAY.
hey .. awesome video man.. well explained .. just been wondering .. how did you shot the last image in the video.. the woman with the two guys.. the reflections on the eye looks amazing
Question: What if you are using an External flash? Do you always set the shutter speed at the minimum on manual mode and let the camera do the exposure for you? An example: indoor shutter auto is at 1/16 of a sec on f/3.5 50mm cropped sensor. Do you bump the shutter speed on manual to 1/75 and just have the external flash work for you while having ISO at say 1000? If you have an external flash, can you keep a lower ISO and bump the shutter speed to the bare minimum?
@PhotographersOnUTube the photo at 09:40, on which person's eye would you place your square focal point in such a way that everyone's face is sharp & not blurred?
Hi - I have a Canon 60D with the kit lens 17- 85mm 4-5.6 IS USM so at 17mm minimum shutter speed should be 1/27 and at 85mm -1/136 Now putting a Canon 420EX speedlite onto the camera at the same focal lengths what should the minimum shutter speeds be?
if i am using a kit lens 18-55 on a nikon d3100 can i use 1/30 of a second while i am all zoomed out ? since 18 x 1.5 is 27 so rounding it upp would be 1/30 of a second . i am right ?
@photographersonyoutube Thanx!!! :) I use a croped d90 but I rarely do landscape stuff I mostly like to do street or lifestyle basically people photo but not exactly portraits, where i offend find my self in low light places so i use a prime like a 50mm,dont Have a wide yet but have seen how other photographers uses Wide lens perspective in these types of shots n I loved it!! thanx again, low light capabilities just gave me another reason to buy one :) like the tokina 11-16 what do you think? :)
a quick way to get you close for crop sensor is you take the number, cut it in half, and add it back to thr original number,. so, 85, divided by 2, is about 45 let's say, , so original number (85) + 45=130mm. Another example, 50mm on a crop would be 50+ half of it, (25), so 50+25 is 75mm.
Hi, Great Video... In Last Portrait, where did you put your focus point (Means There are 3 persons and which person's Eye did you choose for focus point)?
i am using 24,180mm lense which means my min shuter speed should be 270 .. in this lense when i take picture in the picture properties in focal lenght it shows 56mm . how to know why i am at 56 mm ??? and should i multiply to the original 180mm lense which is normal is lense. or i have to find in which focal lenght my picture will be taken and muliply with 1.5 ???
@PhotographersOnUTube so summarizing what you just said: any faster shutter speed above minimum shutter will all have the same sharpness. The only difference is in moving object where the faster the shutter is the more you freeze the motion. So if we are above minimum shutter speed the only difference is the freeze in the motion. Correct?
No idea what you're talking about but I like the way you say it. :) Would be nice if you first explained how to change the shutter speed on the camera and when and why you should do it.
i NEVER knew that you cant have a slower shutter than the total of your focal length size? is that true? i always expose 30th sec with a 27mm- 300mm lens on a Nikon d7000 i will have to try this re adjusting my shutter to the focal length size 1.5 thank you
I ALSO THOUGHT THE CAMERA CORRECTLY CHOOSES THE SP WHEN ITS IN AV MODE, BUT OBVIOUSLY IT MAKES MISTAKES QUITE ALOT, SO I HAVE LEARNED THE ONLY WAY IS FULL MANUALL REALLY. SO IS THERE NO AUTOMATIC CORRECTIVITY ?
I'm confused. In this video you said that the faster the shutter speed does not equal to sharper the image becomes just as long as you stay above the minimum shutter speed. However, in the shutter speed video you said the faster the shutter speed the sharper the image... Could you explain more please? Please reply.
Can we break the rule? I tried the rule with my kit lens 18-105 VR with my d90... So I tried to shoot in my room. Even though I bumped up the ISO it is till underexposed....
I have got a kit lens with my D7000 18-105. How do i know what's the minimun shutter speed i can use to get a sharp image. if my camera is zoomed at 80mm. How do i know the true focal length of 80mm? Thanks. Your video are great by the way. I have watched the aperture the shutter spped and the iso tutorial for beginners. It helped my a lot

@photographersonyoutube Thanx for the Great video !! Helped me a lot :) but i Still have to Questions 1.how do you Calculate the effects of VR systems? and can you Really pull of a Sharp shot at 1/10 shutter speed with a 11 mm lens?!! if so i'm buying a Wide!! :D
I thought the minimum shutter speed to avoid camera shake only needed to take the focal length of the lens into account. You shouldn't need to take the crop sensor into account, because they light isn't actually traveling any further to reach the sensor.
haha. That's why. Are you from India? Your comment reminded me of my colleague long time ago from that country, really good with mental calculation and number memory.
@photographersonyoutube thanx again changed my mind I think i'll stick to the humble 18-55mm for now :) and i'm just a teenager FX system is a bit too much for me right now n in the future if i can afford to Buy a full frame system i think i'll also be able to afford a lens i Always wanted a Zeiss 21mm Distagon instead :D
