Realistic Minimus 7W speakers
Denon UD-M3 and UD-M30 Amp/Receiver
I absolutely love the sound I get from these.
Another great speaker you might run across at a thrift store is B.I.C, there are ones called 'venturi' that were common, but sound amazing.
Just some words of wisdom, and my own thoughts. :)
Be well

Love hearing you discuss stero equipment. I just went with Pioneer right out of the gate as a kid in the early 90’s. We were still amazed at Cr02 Chromium cassette tapes which have no been proven to be the most low-fidelity medium ever introduced.

For $1,000 I want my speaker cables to grant me wishes and give me superpowers. Since I can't have that I often use old AC line cords. They work just fine. And yes the 7ws are great for small low-power systems and they look great on a wood shelf!

I love my bluetooth speakers. Polaroid had a retro cloth covered front speaker and cant believe the sound that comes out. I was in the Army in 1982 when I bought my first stereo, it was a marantz with speakers that would shutoff before they blew. Had 1 chair in my apartment, a 3 legged kitchen table but a 1,000 dollar stereo 😉as a teenager I had 8 speakers I canabilized from old console stereos that didnt work anymore.

I have the Minimus-2s connected to my computer through an amp with a subwoofer. They're larger but are pure wood. They also don't use the red and black clamps to hold the wires in. They use screws. Found'em at a local thrift store. 50c each.

I just pulled mine out of a drawer today because I've been doing a lot of listening and system fiddling lately and have a little Optimus amp that I thought they'd pair well with for low volume listening (it is!). But the reason I'm even commenting is because I've owned that Denon UD-M3 for like 15 years. I found it in the garbage at my work presumably because the volume knob tends to get a little wonky and becomes unusable eventually. I became a fan of how small, convenient, capable and good it sounds so I actually pick one up whenever I see a good deal. I have three of them now lol! And I know what you mean about describing the sound when used with a sub. It's insane. Even though it only puts out 30 wpc, it's very clean sounding at high volume and a sub will make up the difference. Maybe my standards are low compared to others, but this is coming from someone who spent over 10 years installing high end home theaters. Wilson Audio speakers. We sold $500 power cables. I'm not bragging - I don't buy into all that, but I do know what a very expensive system sounds like because I've installed them. People will spend their money as they see fit, but if I'm just doing some casual everyday listening, this combo is really great. And it cost me like $50 max at thrift stores for the Denon, Minimus 7s, and a small Paradigm sub. Sorry for the rambling. I think I share the same enthusiasm for these exact items.

Love the non sha launt intro lol. ✌👍 Nice find on those. I dont know a whole lot about this. I do know old amps of certain varieties can be highly valuable to "peeps". Whats even more valuable is, finding a person that can actually referbish these older 60s amps. My friend bought a g-deck fender amp... I thought it was cool because of the versatility in effect choices(built in) but sound was lack luster in my opinion. Im normally playing unplugged on a Seagull 6 string acustic cedar top. So I havent plugged in too much. Always had the money to buy an elctric and amp, just never did. Guess it was my calling at the time to focus on acustic. Now I really want to plug in lol. (Should have practiced more as well) ✌

Some of the old stuff is hit-and-miss, and some of the older speakers really don't sound that good. There is far better stuff these days but it cost a lot of money so that's why I go vintage.

Listening on 2 earfun uboom-L bluetooth speakers linked In tws, when I want deep rumble and meaty sound I switch to the tribit stormbox blast. That would make a hell of a gift and I've seen it as low as 139. I should go plant some trees 😆 🤣 it's heavy the stormbox blast, feels close to 14lbs . The bass on the little light earfun uboom-L is surprising for the size though, like really surprising. I'm hoping to move closer to the goodwill, I never find any old gems at st.vincent de Paul, they hide the good shit upstairs

Nice video! I have a pair that I got for $5 from a thrift store and they're really impressive speakers. I even prefer them over my Boston CR55's, which are also pretty small, like the M7's, but much much more expensive. Surprisingly the M7's have more bass than the CR55's even though the cabinet of the CR is slightly bigger. They're also pretty useful for studio work as a reference monitor, to check how the mix sounds on a small pair of speakers. Once you can get it sounding good on the M7's, it'll sound good on any other system. Kinda like a poor man's Auratone.

Wow, another thing we have in common. I need good and good sounding music every day. I have got to get to that Goodwill store that you speak of. There is nothing here that has that kind of value. I recall you showed this receiver or integrated amp that was the biggest Marantz I have ever seen! Yes I like Yamaha integrated amps they don't give me "ear fatigue" regardless of SPL that other amps tire my ears out on. I still use my AR full manual turntable with a moving coil that I bought in 1973 . AR - the best. You got AR-3's - very nice. I have an Onkyo flagship home theatre deal. Ya I went all the way to dolby 7.1. Now I say fuck it, just give me plain good stereo. I listen more than I watch movies. Got about 500 LP's that I took care of that I can not part with. Lp's were so cool just in their covers, I remember being very high looking at Yes album covers and Thick as a Brick - Tull album cover that unfolded into a whole news paper. I ditched my old big 65lb Yamaha speakers from 77, 12 inch woofers with the blown foam ring and the electrolytic caps were gone in the crossovers - nice domed mids and a beryllium domed tweeter. And I got small speakers, ELAC UB5 three ways, designed by Andrew Jones. Damn unbelievable man these small speakers really put out - but clearly with a real sense of space in the performance area. What I'm trying to say is very low inter -modulation distortion. Technology has moved forward in a good way. Good sound in small speakers. But I still would like to find a McIntosh tube amp. Tubes handled current very well so bass and kick drums were fully, warmly and authentically present.
@carpo719
@carpo719 4 года назад
I think everybody dreams of having a Macintosh set up. They are amazing. But I am too rough with my equipment I would probably destroy the tubes in a week if my kids didn't. LOL, that's what I like used merchandise because I don't have to worry about damaging it I as well went through the whole surround sound thing for a couple of years, eventually going back to a 2-channel stereo. But I have four speakers on each side of the room just spaced differently and they are all small
@23jazz24
@23jazz24 4 года назад
Cranking up older stereos is always fun. I have a 1970s pioneer (sx1250 I think) countertop receiver 400watts of retro power, it probably weighs 70 lbs, but it still gets gets the woofers bouncing.
@carpo719
@carpo719 4 года назад
@@23jazz24 that's a highly desirable unit. I have the 750 and 850 in the same series. They are wonderful amps and sound warm. They can have issues with the knobs and static but they are phenomenal for the quality of sound you get

It's hit-and-miss, sometimes there's nothing good. 10 years ago I used to find silver faced receivers every week, now I rarely see them because they put them on the auction site so most of my vintage gear I got in the years past. To my quick research they were Quite pricy new like $450 I think... Also sorry for your loss, I have been dealing with a child with drug problems for the last 5+ years, it seems to be at a full roar now but it has been hell over last few years, fights, my stuff being broken or stolen n sold off. And so many say kick em out I'd dissown him blah blah, but I painfully forged through it and he now wants to go in the army.... I looked at it as it's my child I will try till I die, not condoaning it but whatever material items are material am I going to disown my child over a chainsaw...no fuck it they make new ones every day my kids all I have. Don't get me wrong I'm not a pushover and the shit hit the fan Everytime something went missing ECT. But I'd let it go eventually, I couldn't live with myself if I had kicked him out n something happened to him then what comfort myself with my material items...??? no that doesn't work.
