Today Taoiseach Simon Harris said that the rioting in Coolock over an asylum centre had "absolutely nothing to do with engagement with the local community about migration policy."
He said it instead was about "thuggery, lawlessness and the far-right."
Meanwhile, Integration Minister Roderic O'Gorman said that there was significant engagement with locals on the asylum centre in Coolock, and that "very clear information was provided" about the use of the site in the months ahead of time.
Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien praised the conduct of the Gardaí during the riot, saying: "The Guards in their approach yesterday, from what I saw, carried out their duties with incredible restraint. And I personally want to thank them for what they did yesterday as well."
