Historian and broadcaster Rafe Heydel-Mankoo appeared on SKY News to debate English patriotism amidst reports that many on the Left view the English flag as racist or offensive.

Just like white Americans can’t just up and life to say UK or Netherlands because their fore parents were European. I had the unfortunate experience of living in Brixton for 3 years and can confirm that this is the norm amongst the black community there. They project their racism and hatred onto everyone, assuming we all think the same about them as they do about us.
She constantly misinterprets history, when in fact all she has, has been given to her by this CIVILISATION. We do not live in a dark ages anymore (thanks to all kind of progress) but some people still do actually, in their minds and what worst also in their souls.

She was only born here because a compassionate England allowed her ancestors to come here. She's free to leave, she's certainly not English and never will be, maybe that's her issue, she can't ever be White. Her problem, not ours, White people are the indigenous people of England. Some Scots may believe that English should freely celebrate being English. As a Scot I joined the British Army serving in the Scots Guards. I was based in and around London throughout my service and lived in England for years after I left the army. I now live in Scotland. My experience is many many Scots most of whom have never been to England have been conditioned to hate the english. Call it zenephobia, call it prejudice or call it ignorance but don't make the generalisation that 'We Scots' believe the English should freely celebrate being English.

I am a Scot and proud to be one, but I am also very proud to be British. On St Andrews day we Scots celebrate, I am happy for the English, Welsh and NI to celebrate their day, the buildings all over Scotland fly the Saltire, happy to see the Welsh, English and NI flag to be flown in their home country.
@@zimmerman89 Haha, I had the same but albeit reverse experience. Before I joined the Parachute Regiment I had never met anyone from Scotland and believed the stereotypes. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the Scottish had some good blokes.

Turn on the tv, their news reporters, actors anyone. What nationality are they. Their politicians? Business owners, doctors…..The standard the west is held to, we’re compared to some kind of utopia that doesn’t exist. What country is the least racist? I have integrated, adapted, and learned to accept and love many new things that weren't part of my culture or upbringing. I am English because I was born here. My family is a Mixture of Scottish and Italian. I don't actually have any English relatives that I am aware of, but I am proud to be a Citizen of one of the great nations of the world. Every English person should be free to celebrate St. Georges day. Just like any other nation celebrate's their patron saints.

I am Canadian, and I love Britain and all they have done for the world. Scotland and the rest of the UK ushered in the industrial revolution which excellerated the development of the West. I am proud of my ancestors from the UK who came to Canada to escape the famine in Ireland. They were given a parcel of land and were the settlers that built Canada to what it is today. We all need to be thankful for all the progress the UK brought into the world.
I’m a Scot, lived 40 years south of the border when St George’s Day and anything English was rightly so celebrated. I am thankful to be now living in France, where the tricolor is everywhere and Gallic culture is protected by its people and government legislation. I just cannot comprehend and despair as to what the UK has become..
Having lived in England, Australia, New Zealand and Italy, England is the least racist of these four countries. My 10 years living in London opened my eyes to so many cultures and races. It was one of the best things about living there, in my opinion. I lived in Hackney for most of my time in a very Caribbean and African area and it was absolutely wonderful. I don’t believe I can find this rich melting pot of cultures and races anywhere else living harmoniously as I did in my time in England. I will remember it fondly for the rest of my life. ❤
