Oh Maddie honey, never go to Southern Utah unless it’s very early spring or very late Fall. With the exception of Bryce Canyon which can get pretty cold overnight in Sept. I know because I camped there with a friend. But this video was good regardless. I’m sorry you weren’t feeling well. I’ve marked it to visit because I’m going on the road. I’m going to set up my van similar to yours. I’ve loved your channel. BTW, I love in the Salt Lake Valley.
Like others have stated, I've had migraines 40 - 45 years and they are brutal! I can't tolerate light or noises. I had a great older doctor years ago who told me to take Sudafed and ibuprophen. Now, you have to show ID to get Sudafed. He also told me to drink hot coffee and eat crackers or something salty. I still do it. The same things don't work for everyone but it's nice to have different options in your arsenal. I hope you are feeling better and having a great day! Stay hydrated!! 💜
I’m so sorry you have a migraine. I suffered with migraines until I was 40 and had a hysterectomy. Apparently the change in hormones fixed my problem ,but for years it seemed that every big event in my life I would be suffering. Praying for relief for you so you can see that beautiful scenery.
My migraines were on one side like a dagger was stuck in my eye. They were preceded by nausea and unusual vision like what I was looking at was fractured with floating squiggly lines. Ha. Hard to describe. I was never diagnosed. And I only had them for a few years. Thank God. I was unable to do anything but lay in the dark and wait for the pain to stop. I was wrong never to have gone to a doctor. Take care in the heat Maddie.
Oh that's so cool that I provided the inspiration for the first three stops on your roadtrip! It has been fun to see a few of the hikes we've done on recent trips from a different perspective. We did this hike in early February on our first day in the St. George area. It was a beautiful sunny day when we left our Airbnb, so we didn't even think to grab our rain jackets. We saw some dark clouds on the short drive to the trail, but didn't think much of it. Then we got about 100 yards into the hike when my wife started to second guess the forecast, and wisely ran back to our car to grab the rain cover for our son's hiking carrier pack. Not much later the skies opened up and we were caught out in a hail storm! The rain and hail only lasted about 10 minutes, but with only our puffy jackets to keep us dry we were pretty soaked. The silver lining came after the storm, when the clouds parted and we were treated to sunlight pouring in through the canyon. We have a very nice family photo of my wife and I soaking wet, and our son high and dry on my back. With the rain and general higher water levels, we were only able to make it to the first set of footholds you showed. It made for a very memorable start to our Utah trip.
Oh Maddie, you definitely are a trooper. Your determination to follow through with your plans while suffering with a migraine (that is a migraine when your eyes are so sensitive to light) is truly appreciated. You have such a positive attitude and manage to keep your sense of humor in the most challenging of situations. I am enjoying your summer journey and thank you for bringing us along. Don’t forget your electrolytes 🥾
I've had horrible migraines for over 45 years. Finally found a medication that helps (in addition to major diet changes). Nurtec. It doesn't work for everyone but it's been a lifesaver for me. I hope you feel better. Hugs.
Your best bet for cooler is elevation, although this year doesn’t seem to help. The other is checking the weather in different locations. That’s how I found Newport. The heat nearly killed my puppy. Had to to emergency stuff for her, but I brought her thru heat exhaustion. Bad. My a/c quit on me.
@@BeerinBeautifulPlaces I think you should see a doctor. The way you were looking in this video is extremely worrying. Its easy to make bad decisions when you are not feeling well, be careful out there.
I am so sorry Maddie! My trick for headaches - ibuprofen and pseudoephedrine (immediate release) - the Sudafed (pseudoephedrine is over the counter but I you have to show your license and they keep it behind the pharmacy counter). Magnesium glycinate as a supplement helps ward them off but once you have one - you need the ibuprofen and Sudafed. It’s a trick my Mom taught me a long time ago!
I applaud you for doing this western road trip in the summer but I would do summer trips in the North then enjoy the West in cooler months...beautiful footage tho! Best wishes!
I have had migraines for 45 years...since I was 5. They are rare now but were 4-5 days/week at their worst. There are prescription meds that can definitely help if over the counter stuff doesn't. But if the over the counter stuff works for you- that's great. Excedrin migraine is (generic) Tylenol, aspirin, and caffeine. You don't have to have been formally diagnosed to take it. Tylenol and aspirin work synergistically to help the pain and caffeine is often helpful for migraine relief. Glad you are rallying!
Headaches are the worst. I found a cool spot, not many right now. I’m staying in Newport Oregon. It only in the low 70’s. Sandy beaches, ward, cool shops to look thru, tidal pools, beach stuff. The main point is it’s cooler.
Those headaches can ruin any day. You’ve got a nice view out there, it could be worse. BTW, remember when you got stuck in the mud? Or the flat tires? They seemed like hard times. But, you always overcome them.
I’m loving this adventure and how you are going about it for vlogging. I’m not a doctor but I think you have migraine headaches. Ranger saying a prayer for your health and quick recovery. Please keep vloging. ❤😊
You sure those headaches are not from altitude? Are you running the engine a lot for air conditioning? You looked much better after forcing your breathing on that canyon hike.
I had horrible migraines before menopause. Blinding pain, visual auras (called them my bright squiggles). This was before the advent of new migraine medicines. I found and still use Excedrin for migraines. My migraines have changed: I no longer have the extreme pain but still have the auras and some disorientation. There has to be some benefit to menopause! Beside no longer having the monthly visitor. You could try Excedrine. No harm there! Feel better!
Maybe your headache was from dehydration. I know you are an experienced hiker and former park ranger, but I worry about your safety alone on these hikes. Maybe you should try and find a hiking partner. Be safe out there.
Feeling lousy on a hot day can't be much fun, but that short hike in that canyon was nothing short of spectacular - nice going and thanks for taking us along. The whole southern half of Utah should be a National Park. P.S. Are you gonna drive the Moki Dugway? Be well, stay safe. 🥾
@@BeerinBeautifulPlaces Another thing that can help is making sure you get Electrolytes; Iused to get bad migraines until I startedusing LMNT every morning. I also use a Chilly Pad from Frogg Toggs; it holds water and provides evaporative cooling. I like to wrap it around my head and hold it in place with a headband or bandanna. Glad you're feeling better, but these suggestions will help next time...
Hope you’re feeling better…you know about canyons and any nearby or distant rain can be dangerous…double check the weather first! And please get some healthy food🙂🙏
It’s sad America’s sad at the moment imo it does not look good so it doesn’t feel good either again my opinion the way things feel to me a lot of people aren’t happy & are worried jus’ sayin’
Remember to just breathe🎉🎉🎉🎉walk, talk and be hopeful always. Remember your channel is a JOB as well🎉🎉🎉🎉what is your channels mission statement, goals and purpose🎉🎉🎉🎉
It’s my understanding migraines bring on nausea … and u want to go into the womb like total silence and darkness … I get Horrible what I think are sinus headaches … and think i never had a migraine … The way to know if it sinus is that caffeine or a decongestant makes it disappear ( I hate that decongestant side effect so I do the caffeine )…. Sinus headaches can be allergy related but for me usually pressure change in weather . Sounds like from temp changes there u are experiencing sinus headaches . Is it hard to follow the shade out there to park in ? Does that help ? (In NJ with horrible humidity and heat right now … I stay in because the mosquitoes 🦟 adore me all day and I don’t want to poison up EVERY day )
Lived for years with migraines. Finally my doctor gave me a prophylactic medication that was helpful. Eventually grew out of the condition, hopefully you will too. The meds that are available now are probably better than when I took them, years ago. Anyway, I am curious: those shots you do when you are walking away from the camera, or when you climbed down the rock with the foot/handholds - I assume you set up the camera, take the shot, then go back and retrieve it? I was thinking if you do those with a drone camera you can just fly it back to yourself.
Its been hottest on record try to stay cool and well hydrated and fed its easy to forget about eating when its hot out because it happens to me, hope you're doing good now
I just wanted to tell you are Absolutely so incredibly Beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍and you are not alone when it comes to migraines sweetheart I suffer from uncontrollable chronic migraines
I'm not a doctor, but your "Big Headache" may be caused by the "Extreme Heat" because a headache can often be a symptom of Dehydration, and as much as this pains me, the alcohol in your Beer certainly wouldn't help. I would suggest drinking more water and adding 'Sports Drinks' or mixes that can replace the Fluids and Electrolytes you are losing to all that Dry HEAT. Good Luck.
Water was the first thing I tried when the headache started the day before. These happen pretty regularly, even when I’m in my apartment all day drinking plenty of water
Sorry but that transition from I can't take along pain killers to if you want great photography (a sponsored item) was a bit weak. You obviously could have ibuprofen in your purse and drink enough water or take a day off from filming if not feeling good! I love your adventures but this one feels very off for your upbeat personality. We all need sick days but you don't have to make a video about it! Just rest and get better. And please take ibuprofen with you!
Thanks for your feedback. I filmed this day because it seems like people like hearing the good AND bad sides of these adventures, and while I felt bad it’s not like I couldn’t function. Having something to do makes me less lonely. I forgot to take the painkillers from my cabinet before the roadtrip and water wasn’t helping. I can see how the ad placement wasn’t the best, though. It had to be somewhere in this video but I guess I could’ve put it somewhere else!
@@BeerinBeautifulPlacesKeep doing what you do best…being YOU! There was NOTHING “weak” about your video, your decisions or the sponsored content. As someone who is old enough to be your mom, I was thrilled that you have those cameras in place! Thanks for showing the difficult stuff… You’re so relatable in every other context so no reason to hold back the difficult. 🤗
