Minix Neo U1 Android TV Box Prices & Availability:

This is our review of the Minix Neo U1 that features the new Amlogic S905 Cpu, 2GB of DDR3 Ram and 16GB of eMMC 5.0 Flash Storage, Pentacore Mali 450, with Android Loliipop 5.1.1
I have bench-marked the Minix Neo U1 with:
- Antuntu, Geekbench 3, 3D Mark Score.
Tested the Minix Neo U1 with:
- Our Stock Videos with H264 and H265 Codecs at 1080p and 4K resolutions without any problems whatsoever.
In terms of Android gaming platform the Neo U1 is capable of playing the most demanding games and the ones tested were Respawnables and Asphalt 8 Airborn.
Also capable of Game Stream at 1080p/720P resolution and 30/60 Frames Per Seconds.
Airplay was also very smooth, used Air Pin Pro App included with the Minix Neo U1 and i could mirror the Iphone 4S and the iPad 2 With latest iOS and stream content from it.
Pros:

- Smooth Video And Audio Playback in All File Formats
- Capable of Game Stream up to 1080 60fps
Cons:
- Main Remote is a little hard to press and use

Like I said, I have had both boxes and I found the shield a much better and faster unit, it's my opinion.👍

I don't see what makes this better than their last box (x8-h plus)? -that box also touted 4K H.265 playback....

+SkillipEvolver on picture quality, its running 10bits and X8-H or H Plus do not have that type of Chip set to get clarity pure like 10bits do beside that software is running is a little faster when you open and close apps, one thing i got a indicate this box is PentaCore GPU and not OctoCore but its awesome box

how long is the boot animation once you already have it set up? is it long? also, is it worth it getting this over something like the Q box? which is just around 55dollars. both are s905 chip

How this one compares to Himedia Q10 Pro and Nvidia Shield? I am only interested in a box that will play mkv up to 4k x265 60fps passing through DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD sound without any issues and if possible, outside KODI environment (not a big fan of KODI). And this one is considerably cheaper than the other ones. Thanks a lot for your inputs in advance!

- Himedia Q10 Pro has more RAM same speed, and 3D sucks at it, price a little more - Nvidia Shield have 2 different version both are way expensive, and almost all games sux, for only Kodi box the suck on pricing. i would not spend so much money only to get gaming controller for Kodi. as it goes for 4K 60hz with 10bit i would still buy Minix Neo U1, but it still have its own share of problems, like Multi Tasking still an issue on this box

+XC techs thank you so much. Yeah, I think I will buy the Minix. I will definitely no play games on it and probably not even stream, just watch movies from the external hard drive. Not sure multitasking will impact me much there (hopefully).

I have bought the Minix. Going crazy with it, just cannot make it pass through HD sound (DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD). Have already had KODI 16, 16.1 and 15.2 and all of them keep crashing. Even though sometimes I am able to play a movie where KODI sees that it is, for example, DTS-HD MA, it will only transfer the core DTS sound. Going completely crazy with this box, already restarted it about 25 times in 4 hours...

yes you still see the on screen keyboard

that is something no one have control over, its Google that can remove it, even if Dev team from Minix remove it with new update from google it will come back, and it is a must just in case your Keyboard on your remote stop working you still need the onscreen via your Air mouse you could use and type

Stick with the shield there is no real difference between the two boxes

Mark Rafferty shield is locked, and cost 3 times more.

Mine was not locked and I had no problem whatsoever installing Kodi as it is a free application

Mark Rafferty and in US dollars times it by 2, this unit is around $120 to $140 US shield is $260 to $320 US. honestly I would not pay $300 for a gaming system that I would use only for kodi.
