Minix Neo U1 Android TV Box Prices & Availability: geni.us/MinixU1
This is my review of the Minix Neo U1 that features the new Amlogic S905 Cpu, the Pentacore Mali 450, 2gB of DDR3 Ram and 16GB of eMMC 5.0 Flash Storage with Android Loliipop 5.1.1
I benchmarked the Minix Neo U1 with:
- Disk Speed Test, Antuntu, Geekbench 3, Network Speed Test, 3D Mark Score & Epic Citadel.
Tested the Minix Neo U1 with:
- Big Buch Buny, Tears of Steal and Sintel Movies with H264 and H265 Codecs at 1080p and 4K resolutions without any problems whatsoever.
- To test out 10 Bit playback capability i run 2 sample movies from Samsung, The Iceland and Dive Into The New World, both Ultra HD 10 bit video and the U1 played everything just perfect.
In terms of Android gaming platform the Neo U1 is capable of playing the most demanding games and the ones tested were Respawnables and Asphalt 8 Airborn.
Also capable of Game Stream at 1080p resolution and 60FPS.
Airplay was also very smooth, used Air Pin Pro App included with the Minix Neo U1 and i could mirror the Iphone 4S and the Ipad Mini with Retina Display and stream content from it.
I also mirrored the Imac that delivers a higher bit rate files and played live slide shows from it and also a apple event and no issues once again.
Things I did Like The Most:
- Usual Great Build Quality from Minix Boxes
- Really Fast Storage
- Crazy Wifi And Ethernet Speeds
- Smooth Video And Audio Playback in All File Formats
- Capable of Game Stream at 1080 60fps
Things i Did Like The Least:
- So far Nothing

I spent a good chunk of time over the last few days watching all your reviews on the latest and greatest android boxes. Almost had the trigger pulled on the x8h+ but heard about the u1 last minute through one of your comments. I loved what I'd read of the specs and the benchmark numbers, so I took a leap and ordered it last night. So glad it proved itself to be an oustanding machine and that you thoroughly enjoy it. Based on this video, I purchased 2x U1's (one for lounge and one for bedroom) in September 2016.....I previously had the X-8H Plus, but the U1 blows that model out of the water in every way! Hey David, glad you are happy with your machines!!! The U1 is a complete beast compared with the X8H Plus. Funny is that the S905 is supposed to be inferior to the S812 but Amlogic implemented so many new features that Wow.. Besides that Minix used the fastest Emmc Flash Storage available at the time and its way fast than most media players, just the Nvidia Shield has one faster than the U1 :) even the U9-H that just came out, we can barely see any difference :) Thanks for the feedback!! Roberto, I really enjoy your reviews. They are clear and don't hold back on the "Like The Least" issues as you say. I was impressed with this unit. but like others I too would like a comparison between this and the Minix Neo x8H Plus. I hope that you can squeeze such a comparison into your schedule. Keep up the fine reviews I trust them and I am sure I am not alone in that confidence in your testing and reviews.

+Julius Jahnke Hi Julius, hehe i never hold back and believe me i always try to find any con on all boxes because im sure there are but honestly when everything works perfectly out of the box i cant lie :) On my tests the machine behaved wonderfully and its being used as a daily driver for the past week on my bedroom and so far no issues :) Regarding the video yes, i will have to record a video with my thoughts about the line up because im getting a lot of similar questions, users are a bit confused right now :) i will do my best to help as usual :) All the Best. WOW ! I'm really impressed ! Airplay from a mac, Mirror Link, Great Kodi, Game streaming (I need to check that) ! Everything I see on this video makes your television a central part of our media life ! I keep it in mind and continue to search for other super android boxes but this one is great.

We use it everyday for our multimedia needs including our Slideshows live stream from imac to the tv trough the U1 The Minix U1 has proven to be one of my favorite machines for 2016 over 50 machines used so far Once you use a Android box you wont go back hehe All the Best RJ 😀

***** Hi Stephane, my opinion is simple 😀 if you are getting a new tv for whatever reason than if you have the choice of getting one with android built in at the same price of a regular tv than go for it. If the price difference is big than humm i would avoid In the case of being the same price is a good deal as you will have a system that will work fine maybe for a couple of years until you feel the need to upgrade to a faster Android TV box If the price is higher i would prefer to invest my money on a box as its much more powerful than any tv manufacturer is building on their tvs Hope it helps RJ 😀

Great video Roberto. I have tried that S905 from from another company different from minix that only had 1gb of ram. It was terrible. You could definitely feel the difference and I'm sticking to the S812s for now

The S905 is a great CPU, a lot of power difference from the last S805 but its not only the cpu that makes 1 machine :) The S812 is still a great CPU and will last for a while. For those with a S812 machine i see no real reason to upgrade just now. :) All the Best. RJ

I now own every Android box from your best of 2015. (addicted) Also, have 2 of these Minix Neo U1 (This is my favorite box by far) - spoiler alert :) Bought Nvidia Shield on two occasions and returned both times. Don't like the restrictions and the fact that it does not have a full google play store. Thanks for your awesome videos !!!

Really good review, thank you. Having a 4K UHD television I wanted to upgrade from Amazon fire stick which lagged and froze. The minix has been awesome I must admit was tempted with Nvidia shield but read some reports on unreliability. Only issue I have had is with the on/off which can be problematic despite an update. In saying that the playback is brilliant and 4K really good. Would definitely recommend and got a deal which includes better remote

the Minix streaming TV boxes are high quality. It would be very interesting if Minix would come up with dual boot OS (Windows 10 & Android) in the near future, that would put Minix to another whole level. Very nice review Roberto.

Hey Umut, i would go definitely U1 at this moment but i would also go with a powerline adapter kit to have Ethernet instead of wireless on any machine so that you can take full advantage of it RJ 👍

Regarding gamepads i use the ipega 9028 and the logitech F710 although the Ipega is a better choice for android. The 2 machines if you need Netflix HD Wetek Core if not the U1 is a newer tech and i would advise on that Hope it helps RJ

Although the S812 on the X8 H Plus is a superior CPU at this moment i would honestly go for the U1, its a "Mini Beast" great performance, and way faster than the X8 H Plus in terms of storage, its like using a SSD and a 7200rpm hdd :) Grande Abraço RJ

Great review, been waiting for this! Will upgrade my M8S box to the Neo U1. Noticed you have very fast internet speed though, my download speed at home is only around 30 Mbps. Will it still be a noticeable upgrade from the M8S?

Which is the best one for watching Kodi on only? I will be using it with my 1080p TV and 5.1 surround sound (not 4k yet). I won't be using it for gaming or anything else, just Kodi! +Arash Mohsenijam Hey Arash, the U1 is one of my favorites boxes and probebaly my favorite as its one of the fastest machines out there atm. We should see the Amlogic S912 this year but honestly i dont see what else they can bring to the table. Off course it will be with more raw performance but for our needs i dont see where we are going to use more cpu power :) I would not wait, get the U1 and be happy hehe!! Let us know Oh i use the Ipega 9028 and a Logitech F710, hard to say which i prefer :) pros and cons on both All the Best RJ

Hi Jorge thanks for great review as also. You helped me pick out my first box over the Xmas holidays Z64 Android and is excellent kodi is my friend... But we all know tech moves on and I thought about upgrading but I read a comment below and you say the U1 is not an upgrade but it is newest device from minix and scores very highly but even your review compares (x8-h plus) it to a device that is older than z64c an you elaborate on this plz. +Chris Coles Hi Chris, and im glad i could help. Regarding the U1 yes its not a real upgrade in terms of raw performance, the X8 H Plus and the Z64 will give better benchmark results as the cpus are more powerful, but the U1 has the new S905 which has new tech and thus making it capable of doing what the Z64 and X8 H Plus does and faster. At this moment U1 is my Minix favorite box and if you are happy with the Z64 you will be even more happier with the U1 :) Hope it helps RJ

I would head over to minix forums and search there to see if anyone has confirmed the audio or if you don't find than open a thread there with that particular question My personal favorite is the U1 at this moment hehe!! Hey Sam Yeboa (cant reply to you because your G+ privacy settings) Non the less: It really depends, some would say go for the Nvidia Shield that is the most expensive and has the best hardware, but on my opinion it has pros and cons like any other. I prefer the Pure android experience as i get with the Minix U1 and its one of the fastest machines i have ever tested so far, so i see it as a well balanced box delivering a great performance at a more than fair price. If you like what you see on this video, go for it and you wont regret it :) Hope it helps RJ

Denise Themis Hey Denise, i understand your concern but the issue is with our network, so speed will vary of the router / "hotspots" that we have. I use powerline adapter on my home so that i can get the best of my connection on every corner so the speeds that you see here are from about 5-7 meters away from 1 of my hotspots (1 wall) Thats why i always suggest powerline adapters, small investment and we can stream 1080p MKV BR 30GB files without issues 😀 Here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oyUD4wjCcVg.html it migh be useful All the Best RJ

+Rafael Hey Rafael, thanks!! But dont be sad the U1 is not a upgrade to the Z64, with a Z64 there is no reason to get the U1, you have a great machine there, unless you need 10 Bit videos or 4K native output your machine will last you a long time :) RJ

+Ashwin Ramesh Hi Ashwin, thanks for the feedback!! :) Im using the Ipega 9028, just search on YT and you will find my review of it, it has been with me for a while and works great for this type of machine :) Regarding cameras i dont use but if you check the minix foruns you will see that users use the Logitech cameras successfully Hope it helps. Hi and thanks. Now that is a good question and instead of recommending a box i would recommend that you wait a little bit for the next Minix machine to appear which will have probably the S912 Soc but more important the Android 6.0 version that allows us to install aps on external storage like the SD card making the internal storage less relevant. There are already machines out there with 6.0 but as you want a great quality box i would wait a while Hope it helps RJ 👍

Roberto, many thanks for your reviews. I'm highly tempted by this box,I have tried a few so far but haven't settled on one. Is there any Android box which allows you to play sound from your tv via hdmi and also play 5.1 DD or DTS from a soundbar connected via optical? just like a normal blu Ray or DVD player can do

+AC Milan 1899 Hey, i understand the question but humm!!! Not sure if it will play on both and this answer is for any box not just this one. The Minix U1 its a great box and i love the experience but i have never tested that situation. I would suggest buying trough amazon so that if you are not pleased you may return it easy. Non the less if you cannot with the U1 you will not be able with any other Let me know if it works please once you have tried it :) RJ

Thanks for the review, I just bought one - hoping to be able to stream my pc to the loungeroom without any issues, i have 5ghz wireless at home and don't really want to use cables. using gtx 970 so hoping to use Moonlight to stream to the projector in the lounge. Also bought a wireless Xbox One controller, so hopefully that works as well.

HI, i use 2 gamepads. Ipega 9028 and the logitech F710 but at this moment i would go with the logitech because the Ipega does not work with Asphalt 8 airborn (The turbo) No installation required on the 2 gamepads RJ 👍👍

thanks for another great video. i have always loved MINIX boxes. I'm currently running a x8-h, not the plus model. is there any big difference between this and the u1? if i were to get another box it would definitely be either another MINIX or an nvidia shield TV.

Hey Roberto, I find your reviews really helpful in making a good buyers decisions. I'm looking for a media player with similar game stream performance as a Steam Link, so I don't have to buy two devices. I read on one of your forum posts that the X8-h plus can only achieve 720p with 60fps, but the Z64 could achieve 1080p60p with no lag, just like you mention about the U1 in this video. I don't really care about 4k content because I don't have a 4k TV. So my question is, which one of these three devices has the best performance for game streaming from my PC and which one would you recommend?

+Qxy Hey :) at this moment i would go for the Minix U1, honestly in terms of game stream i see no difference between the Z64 or U1 but the U1 is still faster than the Z64 on aps opening and browsing etc so definitely my choice atm I also have purchased a Steam link while in pre order and has arrived in Nov and i still haven't reviewed it. Hopefully very soon ill share that video. But you are spot on, for users that want game stream and also the possibility of media player and other stuff like browsing etc the best is a android machine such as the Minix U1 Hope it helps RJ

nice review RJ! One thing I don't like is that only 16gb (only 8gb for user). I was going for the z64 because I don't see an urgent need of 4K. How you will now compare z64 and u1 specs and performance. CPU is lower for u1 for example. U1 Extra cost will be justified?

+Jesus Frances Hi Jesus, its more than 8GB but i understand your point of view, the Z64 has 32GB and is still one of my favorites. If you dont need 4K native output the Z64 is the best bet for the price. The U1 is a lower end machine but has a great cpu and great overall hardware that now is fighting with top boxes as the X8 H Plus and Z64. Hope it helps. RJ

Hey GRiZLOC , cannot reply directly because of your G+ privacy settings :) In terms of speed the U1 is a night and day difference. Specially because it has a much faster flash storage. I noticed a speed difference from the X8 to the Z64 and i notice from the Z64 to the U1 so you may imagine that its pretty faster than the X8 H Plus. The CPU on the X8 H Plus is still superior in terms of raw performance although the new S905 has new tech and does pretty much everything we need from a box at a nice price. Regarding Netflix yep i love minix machines but i would not suggest it if that is going to be your main usage. I wish Minix would do something about this in the future :) RJ

+nikko Hey Nikko, the X8 H Plus is still supeior but the U1 has newr tech so it can play things like 10 bit files that the X8 cannot. Although the X8 H Plus is still superior at this time if i was to get a machine i would go for the U1. If i already had a X8 then i would wait for its upgrade later on 2016 :) Hope it helps RJ

Hello Roberto, watched literally every video on your channel about android boxes, good stuff! Im looking to buy my first box and did a lot of research but still dont know what to choose. Since its a first, I want to buy relatively high end machine, Nvidia Shield is just too expensive and I dont plan on gaming too much as I do own a video game console. Right how Im looking at Minix boxes, they seems to be well build and you to seem to enjoy them. What would you recommend for simple media consumption? I was gonna go and purchase Neo X8h plus, but then saw a Neo U1, which is more superior on hardware department but after reading some forums people seems to have issues with the U1 model, for example not being able to connect and download onto external hard drive or constant video stuttering, have you expirienced something like that on U1? So many choices, but so hard to make the right one lol I think its between U1, x8h plus and z64 android right now, but which one?

+Alex Polischuk Hey Alex, i totally understand your questions and its not easy to chose. I still have the X8H Plus and its a great machine but at this moment my daily driver is the U1, im using it very day and its one of my favorite machines at this time. I stream MKV 1080 Blu-ray movies from my NAS to my boxes and the U1 has so far given me 0 problems. One issue that i find frequently its people using Kodi addons that suck and make machines go slow and then blame the boxes hehe! Which is not fair I dont have nothing against addons etc but the way i use its a pure installation of Kodi and then i grab all my media from my NAS and my experience has been nothing but great :) Hope it helps RJ

eufioselected No problem 😀 Regarding KODI im not very concerned really. Although Chris Browet was the only KODI Android Dev im sure they will get someone else. Regarding Minix they have stated recently that although Android has no longer a KODI coder, their machines will be kept up to date with their team doing the improvements on their KODI optimized version. As last resort in a really dark scenario if KODI was to disappear from Android there would always be the SPMC solution so no worries :)

Hi Zohar and thanks for your feedback!! Regarding the keyboard sure, any keyboard will work, either wired or wireless :) and to a pc monitor yes as well. You will need a monitor that has HDMI input which is the best option for resolution. If you dont have HDMI input on the monitor there are some adapters but the quality will suffer All the Best RJ 👍

Regarding the Z64 Windows is a really nice machine that can replace any older big Computer that we have on offices such as schools etc and these mini pcs on my opinion are totally capable of replacing those units. If you can wait a bit longer wait to see the prices that the new Cherry Trail will come, i expect that they will be a bit more expensive than the Z64 as the specs are higher for what i have seen, like the SSD´s with 128GB etc but at least by then you can make a choice a Z64 or a newer model depending on price and on your needs If on the other hand you need it right now get the Z64 W which is a fine machine. Another great review Roberto!! Keep it going!! :) I recently purchased a Android box in October, and I noticed when playing back my movies from my external drive on any common movie player that every so often there is a slight stutter, like its buffering or something, even on Netflix...Did the U1 have any issues like that? So would you recommend the U1 over the 8H Plus and Z64, if someone were to purchase one now?

+Portu Bello Hey my friend!! Have you tried to play from the network (if you have a NAS) or from a different HDD, there could be any issue with the drive? Regarding the U1 no problems whatsoever, when i notice any problem on any box i point it out and send feedback to the brand so that they can fix and this one is working great out of the box :) The U1 is not a upgrade to the X8 H Plus or the Z64, its a lower end machine but has a new and powerful cpu that makes it be fighting with the top of the line machines, any of these 3 U1, Z64 or X8 H Plus will give a great experience. But i would suggest at this point the U1 specially because its so dam fast on the storage that everything seems really snappy :)

+Roberto Jorge (Tech Reviews) The box I have is the MyGica ATV1900ac...The only thing running perfectly is Kodi on my box. I have tried running my own movies from my usb drive on Kodi, but cant seem to figure it out. So Im really thinking of purchasing the Minix U1 or the 8H Plus or Z64, because I want really smooth playback of videos and Netflix combined with a lot of Kodi use. Since you said the U1 is not an upgrade, I'm not sure which Minix to get but I understand that any of them would do the job. Seems that the U1 is abit faster than the other 2 and it runs on Lollipop, and the other 2 runs on KitKat. Is there a big difference beween Lollipop vs. KitKat??? And again, thank you so much! :)

Hey Roberto great video as always! I'm really unsure what media player I should buy! I'm tossing up between the cheaper M8S, tronsmart vega or a minix (and even then really not sure which to get). M8S is attractive because its cheaper but is it worthwhile forking out the extra $ for a minix? If so which would you get? What my needs are: Kodi streaming from my NAS of all kinds of video formats Netflix would be a plus.

+Stormbreaker69 Hi, on my opinion when you get a Minix machine you are not only getting the box itself as the M8S which is a budget box, but we are also getting a much faster machine + Online Updates, a big community around the product, support etc so we have to see the price not only for the hardware but also for the services that come included. At the end will be your choice depending on what you are looking for :) RJ

Só I use it for to see soccer game from the Brazilian channel & so)I'm looking to by a other one.. And I saw the u1 ..What do think is better z64 or u1??The z64 looked like more process power (Intel,32gh emmc)?What are your thoughts?Or is there smart box better then both?

+Onilio Sousa Hey Sousa :) If you liked the Z64 than you are going to love the U1 :) Yes the Intel CPU has more raw power but the Amlogic S905 has new tech giving the U1 the ability to process files that the intel cannot beside 4K etc Ah!! And the Z64 is one of the fastest machines on boot and loading aps but the U1 is faster hehe!! Get the U1 and you will be very happy :) RJ

+B Fu Hi, regarding the Matricom i have not tested so i cant say how well the firmware is implemented or not. Regarding the X8 H Plus, Z64 and U1 they are 3 top machines and any choice will not let you down. At this moment i would go honestly for the U1 specially because its really fast, opening and closing aps its a breeze and has new tech that allow us to play new video files. Regarding the X8 H Plus and the Z64 are 2 wonderful machines that are still superior than the U1 in terms of CPU but the new S905 on the U1 is so great that its a midle tier machine fighting with the top tier machines such as those 2. I have the 3 machines and so far i have no complaints on the 3 :) Hope it helps RJ

Hello Roberto, I love your reviews. I have the MINIX NEO U1 and I find it great. I need to purchase 2 boxes, one for my Home Office and one for my Den. The thing is I also need 2 Enigma2 Linux Sat Receivers for the same rooms. I was wondering if you could recommend a Dual Enigma2 Linux and Android Box. I think Wetek do such a box but I'm not sure of the specs and maybe you know of others. Thanks

+UBLoyal Hi, the U1 is indeed a great machine. Regarding sat receivers Wetek is about to launch the new Wetek Play S2 which has the S905 and DVB so that is a consideration. But as far as Pure Android machines the U1 is one of my favorites atm :) RJ

Thanks for the video. I bought the z64 on your recommendation and I have never regretted. On your z64 and a huge selling point for me was the fact it supported over the air updates which is an another point you touched off in this video for the u1. My issue with this is bar the day one update I have never received an update. Can you please tell me if this was the same for you?

Sorry Roberto. No I'm currently considering buying a 2nd minix box. I bought the neo z64 after watching your review. One thing that sold the neo to me was when you mentioned about the over the air updates. My question to you was I never once received an update from minix on my neo and was this the same for you? Patrick Nyland But i have had a few updates on the Z64 im not sure how many but maybe 6-8 updates. Try to connect it via Wifi and check for the updates (Should also work on RJ45) press that button that says updates and then check and it should show the updates. The same happens with the U1 but as its newer i only had a couple maybe 3 updates so far The U1 is a great machine!! I love it hehe!! RJ

Patrick Nyland Patrick have in mind that the Z64 has a known issue which is that even if you make 10 updates it will always show version 1.0 :) so maybe you have done the updates like me. Mine has been updated and shows version 1.0 hehe!! The U1 is a beast. fast fast!!! Enjoy it RJ

Hey Wiz, the X6 is a nice machine but franqly the Amlogic S905 on the Minix U1 beats the crap out of the Rockship 3368 on the X6, so if you want a fast machine with 10bit playback, game stream and one of the fastest storages available, the U1 is the way to go. RJ 👍

+Jimmy S Hey Jimmy, the U1 has the new S905 CPU which i really like because it can play every format that i have tested and also the U1 has the fastest storage that i have tested (just between by the Nvidia shield) So Minix U1 is a really nice beast at this moment. The X9 is also a nice machine, older tech and the reason to go for the X9 would be if you need that your machine records from a HDMI input Hope it helps RJ 😀

+M. quinones Hey and thanks for the feedback!! The S812 on the X8H plus is still superior in performance but the S905 is competing with top end machines giving the same results in real life situations and also playing newer formats like 10Bit that older cpus cannot like the S812. Both machines are great and for those that have the X8 H Plus i dont see the need to run and get the U1, but for those on the market for a new box i would go for the U1. You will notice that the machine has a really fast storage and makes it very responsive compared with the X8 H plus. SSD vd HDD :) Hope it helps RJ

hey Roberto what machine would u go for out of the minix u1 or nvidia shield I will mainly be using for watching live sports also how does the u1 compare with the nvidia for gaming? thanks

+Gary Lindsay Hey Gary, there are pros and cons on both, including prices & the way that we use it, i personally prefer the Pure Android experience on the U1. In terms of games i see no Android game that can benefit from the better hardware of the shield. Both the Shield and the U1 can use Game Stream. The shield has Geforce Now which is unique to nvidia but i don't find it useful to me personally, having in mind the price and the limitation of the games. Thanks a lot for your answers Robert!! And, What about using FolderMount or Link2SD?? I imagine that being Root is needed in order to pass heavy android games from internal storage of the Minix U1 to a SD card.. Could it be possible?? To achieve this purpose, I would need to root the U1..., wouln't I? Thanks a lot for your support Robert!!!

I would also like to know. I've been trying to connect my Dualshock 3 controllers to my Minix Neo U1 for weeks now. I've tried the "Sixaxis Controller" app after rooting and still nothing. :(

Boa Tarde Roberto, estou a pensar adquirir uma minix U1 mas gostava de pedir a tua opinião uma vez que só a penso utilizar para Netflix, Plex e Kodi (Live TV) e se esta é a melhor a comprar tendo em conta que tenho um budget de £120. A minha internet em casa está agora em 200 Mbps por isso uma box que use esta velocidade em pleno também será um ponto a valorizar. Muito obrigado e muitos parabéns pelo excelente trabalho.

Hi Robert, can you turn the U1 on with the A2 remote? I can't with my X8H plus due to the USB port not being energized when the unit is off.

Hey!! Yes the U1 can be turned on with the A2 light that i use so the A2 will work as well. The U1 works differently in this case. Although i dont usually turn my off but it works. Usually this is a function that only works in some IR remotes like the Zidoo ones, but the Minix U1 + A2 combination works like a charm :) 👍👍

it's about 2-3 times more expensive than boxes with similar specs, i would definitely count that as something not to like about, but then again specs aren't everything, but is the software experience really that good ?

Hey Joe, the only way to really see the difference is to use one of these Beasts. Using a budget S912, 2GB, 16GB Flash is completely diferent than using a Minix with the same config. They use premium aps and make one of the best firmware available and those 2 together wow!!! Its like using a Nvidia Shield but with Pure Android. Best Pure Android TV Boxes are from these guys, no questions about it 👍👍

hi roberto - i'm getting confused with the line ups of minix with every new version out: X8H-Plus the oldest had DTS/Dolby+GigNIC+True4K+HEVC / Come newer Z64- no DTS/Dolby+100Mbps+1080p / come even newer U1 - not even proper DTS pass through+GigBack+Questionable display ... i'm really lost considering if minix wants me to prefer only a snappy UI response vs give up on things which matter more here - playing back Video & Audio. (I may not be accurate on thse specs - but in general thats what I could understand) do advise which one is really speaking more sensible to use here.

+Renjith Chembakarayil Hey, regarding audio its really difficult for me as i cant proper test the pass-trough, i dont have a capable AV receiver at the moment In terms of machine it self at this moment i prefer the U1 because its faster than the 2 X8 and Z64, although the raw performance of the U1 is inferior because the cpu is inferior, but has new tech so can compete with top end machines. I believe that on your particular case probably the X8 H Plus is the best choice regarding the audio concerns, its a more mature machine and people had enough time to test and report issues and Minix has fixed most of them, the U1 is still very recent so it will go trough the same process that the X8 had Difficult choice there Renjith RJ

Hi Robert, from Spain and of course THANKS a lot for your astonishing reviews! are the best. 2 questions please!! 1) Does Minix U1 offer the possibility to transfer android games installed in the main storage of the console to the Micro SD??? It was a marvelous option of Nvidia Shield portable, and I would like to know if Minix U1gives this chance o not..., 16 GB for games is at the end not enough.... 2) Besides, you suggested ipega 9028 controller with trackpad for gaming, if I get 2 gamepads (and the game allows it) could I play multiplayer with 2 gamepads at the same time??, sometimes some tvbox recognizes only 1 pad, and the second one is not recognized well ...confusing it with the first one. Even in emulators, if I configure both pads, Could I play to multiplayer games with 2 pads? Im looking forward for your prompt reply, I would like to express most forcefully my thanks in advance for your invaluable efforts for this community of mad technology users!!

+Eduardo AV Hi Eduardo :) Thanks and warm regarding from here my "neighbor" :) Regarding your questions: 1- Not at this time and neither does any other box with the exception of the Nvidia Shield that already has the Marshmallow update. This is a Android Limitation and not on the hardware. Once boxes start to have Marshmallow, all will be able to transfer aps to SD which will be great :) 2- I cant see any reason why it would not work, i have only 1 ipega 9028 so i cant say 100% but i would imagine that will work just fine, 2 different pads (Different ID´s) so should do it fine :) Thanks for your feedback Hope it helps RJ

i have this machine and have had it for about 1 year. bought 1 for a friend about 2 months ago. love it. i am wondering if there is a better machine out now @ the ~$140-160 ish price point ? i have 2 people interested in buying & want me to get for them, so thought i would ask here, i dont have time to research read up on each movie box & I really like the minix brand.

hey Marney, the U1 is a beast and only beaten by the newest U9-H which has the S912 instead of the S905 but for real world usage we wont notice any difference. Get the U9-H if you are going to use Adaptive storage and want Android 6, if not the U1 still going strong 😀

perfect ty for confirming...i just bought 3 more for friends...now i have to do all the installs which seem to change from XBMC now to KODI, back n forth. i was planning on installing kodi, then collusus, sanctuary, then ares repo. my 1st machine videos were all about XBMC which the U1 comes with but all current (sept '17) videos seem to be KODI based.
