How many of us were appalled at the Wet Markets, yet it seems to be similar practices going on nearer to home, that need to end. Thanks for the updated info Dr John.
Real world...do we still buy veal? In addition, take a look inside an ‘egg factory’ near you. Furthermore, take a stroll around you local abattoir and have a nightmare. Any idea how they slaughter pigs?
Could it be possible that mink farmers just aren't wearing masks while feeding and handling their mink? Maybe the mink are getting it from human saliva, i.e. through talking, sneezing, singing etc.
We are better! Mink farms, cow farms, chicken farms... are astronomically better than a wet-market where various animals are mixed with one another which likely generated sars cov-2 which then spread to humans and mink alike! "Not better" gimme a break....
We have to stop the countries with exploding populations and people cramped in small appartments, living 8 or more together. Stop sendign aid to Africa, India, Asia and we'll have less problems. It's inhuman how they live.
@@beersmurff What's "inhuman" is not giving them the same privileges and opportunities that YOU enjoy, simply due to an accident of birth location. On that subject, you called John a hypocrite elsewhere, look at yourself?
It’s hardly the same thing. The wet markets in Wuhan had animals in cages on top of each other from several different continents. In one wet market they had animals from China and Africa and South America all in one location, in highly stressful conditions watching animals being slaughtered right out in the open. There is nothing similar.

Any deviation from this narrative from the scientific community and government officials, will only prolong the suffering and cost far more lives to be lost, which is nothing less than crimes against humanity. From Denmark here. Just to clarify. The new cluster 5 cases were all in september but only identified as a new cluster in november. So far there´s been no cases of the new cluster since september and the authorities are speculating that the new cluster may have died out. Everything is closed down in northern Jutland and everybody is being tested. So the response has been very quick and right after discovering the new cluster. I didn´t know that we were the largest exporters of Mink fur. Apparently we don´t brag about it and no one wears fur in DK. I hope this is the end of Mink farming in DK.
It sounds like it is the time for you and other Danes to petition your politicians to end Mink farming in Denmark and then the EU, rather than hoping that it will happen. Edit: I should have worded this more diplomatically. Sorry.

I was just looking for something cheerful to watch while I did a pile of ironing when this popped up. Whilst it didn’t necessarily cheer me up, thank you for another interesting interpretation of the facts - and yes, you kept me engrossed so it did help me endure the horrible job of ironing!
I'm listening while putting away the clothes. As for ironing, I find 15 minutes in the dryer sorts out the creases for everything except linen. Not that actually ironing linen does much either, once on its back to square one in minutes. Used to work in a dry cleaners, have hated ironing ever since.

Maybe use lockdown time to enhance your reading and writing skills. I personally like the way Dr. Campbell does his vids soooo much. So down to earth, so real. So HUMAN.
@Dave Smith Campbells degree is in teaching nursing after having been a nurse. I guess it is why he is good at communicating medical information to people who have no background on his youtube. You can watch his educational resources pre covid and get a sense of his background. I do acknowledge he doesn't have a degree in epidemiology and so there are limits to his expertise. They are not low limits though. Here is his Linkedin uk.linkedin.com/in/dr-john-campbell-5256223b University of Bolton PhD Teaching bioscience in national and international nurse education. Post Grad pharmacology. School of Tropical Medicine. Diploma in nursing etc. Providing it is not all totally made up the man is qualified and is a Ph.D.
@Dave Smith It's not just the 4000 deaths 2 weeks from the time that data was calcualted under the spread rate at the time. It doesn't stop at 2 weeks, that's just where the governemnt draw the line of "acceptable losses". You'd assume someone has made projections of how many will die without lockdowns vs how many will die as a result of lockdowns and consider it the lesser of 2 evils. Saving lives costs resources. I remember seeing a BBC report from NI recently where one hospital had its oxygen tank hit the yellow. No problem, it didn't hit the red they got more oxygen in time so disaster averted. What if every hospital in NI needs that oxygen at once, or the UK, or the northern hemisphere? I doubt oxygen production and logistics are geared up to meet that demand. They will be geared up to meet whatever they can sell plus whatever preparations they have made over the past months. They also talked about how the machinery used to pump the oxygen would be reaching its capacity. If that thing can pump x amount of cubic litres of O2 per second (although they make it to strength ie 60% O2, so it is more complicated than that anyway) then when you go over capacity people will die who wouldn't if you had the resources to treat them. I assume if you operate the machinery turned up to 11 for sustained periods you surely risk breakdown, then everyone depending on it at the time is in trouble. I remember when PHE were warning about tranqs running out for ventilators in some hospitals. All you have to do is apply that local situation to all areas at once. If healthcare gets overwhelmed more will die as a direct result of covid. Last lockdown we have seen so many heart attacks untreated and undiagnosed cancers. That is undeniably bad. People were scared and didn't seek treatment ( best I know neither were cancelled as "non essential") or were selflessly trying to not burden the NHS in the projected crisis. Imagine if it wasn't because they were scared or stoic, but because there is noone available to treat them or no resources to treat them with. That would continue until healthcare was no longer swamped. Months. These people would die as a result of healthcare being overwhelmed by covid I wish we were Sweden but it seems we are not capable of achieving those results with more NPI's. Tegnell talking about Swedens success last month ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0IgbuUD5MjQ.html The government is going to be judged with the benefit of hindsight and so I assume they are playing it safe rather than sorry, already some people are saying they should have done it sooner and some are saying they are calling it too soon . How many deaths does it take to justify lockdown in your opinion? Bear in mind you have to act 2 weeks ahead of your desired peak.
Good day Dr. Campbell. We thank you for all the information you give us. I have been watching your updates since January. I still feel you should be recognized for all you do for free! Thank you!
This "industri"will not end by killing the mink in dk. There are mink in many countries and they have problems with corona among mink...they just dont test genetically for mutation so who knows og han be anywhere without finding out. A wakeup call....
Why are you so concerned about mink farms lol? Think about what is happening in India. They worship rats, monkeys and cows. Imagine the disease mutating among all those animals and passing back and forth between beast and man. Shut down mink farms? You're better off erasing the whole country of India off the map!
“Man has much power of discourse, which for the most part is vain and false; animals have but little, but it is useful and true, and a small truth is better than a great lie.” -leonardo da vinci
Dr. Campbell, I have heard that there are several mink farms in the US. Many of the minks are sick with the novel corona virus, and no one is planning to do anything about it. These minks are allowed to live and spread the virus from one mink to another. This could potentially create another mutation (one that is different from the mutation created in the mink in Denmark). It is fairly difficult to predict how a virus will affect an animal, and how it will mutate to best survive in this particular animal. What is extremely DISTURBING is that that the US is not concerned, and is not testing the animals to see if an mutation occurred. The people who ware working in the US mink farms are not tested either. If they get sick, they are tested like everyone else in the population but not one is looking for a mutation either in the minks or the people who work with the minks or their family members.I tried to explain to a friend that the infection capability of this virus is unprecedented (in our lifetime), and that is why this particular virus is singled our from other viruses.
Yes, this happened in August in the state of Utah. Now Utah has insane covid rates... is it related to the mink mutation? We do not know if they never sequenced the gene from the sick minks.
Its a problem in many places...fx. italy spain france Holland sweden USA.....ect. I dont know if there are other places where mink are genetically testet but it's far from most....
Krinkle Hill in another video recently Dr John said that 3400 mink died of coronavirus in Wisconsin. It's very saddening to hear about this, and well time for these kinds of cruel "farming" practices to end. Raising poultry, pigs, cattle, geese (for down) and mink has led to all sorts of problems - foot and mouth, mad cow, swine flu, avian flu... it goes on and on. Maybe if being kind won't make humans change their ways, maybe self interest will.
It’s sad that we are not more respectful of nature. Purely commercial/luxury endeavor should be more regulated. Not only animal but impact on the land. But unfortunately for essentials we can that restrictive, we need this low prices to feed in mass.
There is a guy, here in the US, who has taken mink from mink farms and trained them to hunt rats for farms and businesses. His web site is " The Mink Man" and it's fascinating to see his relationship with his mink and how he uses their natural behaviors to take care of a pest problem without chemicals or traps. The mink are so fast that the rats don't suffer much and there are no poisoned bodies to kill or sicken other animals. He uses the meat from the prey to feed his mink so they have a natural diet and there is little waste. His training methods are very interesting too and it's good to see how patient he is. It was another random pandemic video pick that I learned from. I never knew it was a thing but I think it's a great newer way to tackle a long standing problem and even make a living maybe.

Farming mink for their fur requires the mink to be healthy both physically and psychologically meaning that their quality of life is quite high for a farmed animal.

Hello John I have watched your videos about the Coronavirus since I discovered your channel in January and am unspeakably grateful for the work you're doing. I am a danish citizen and am very concerned with how we're dealing with this mutation. Just a linguistic heads up, when the danish authorities say "many citizens are infected" the word used could be "flere" which can mean anywhere from more than 2 to 'many' so there's no reason to thing the word means more than 12 infected have been found. I personally believe that to be the case but I just thought the clarification would be helpful.
Simon Bastrup Hello Simon, Do you know if birds eg: Pigeons, Sparrows, seabirds ect. can carry this virus and spread it further to dogs and cats. Kind regards from Ireland Kate. 👱♀️🙏
Hi Simon, could you tell us more about your concerns about how the Danish authorities are dealing with this? It seems news about this outbreak has only reached the rest of the world days ago, so maybe you could fill us in a bit, or give a link that we can google-translate?
Right. Flere = several, which 12 is. The Danish government wouldn't just say "many" like that to imply more people have been infected, it doesn't make sense. Honestly it's probably too late to stop it though, since the cases were found many weeks ago and it's already spread to Croatia. I don't know what a lockdown of Denmark will solve when the mink is already out of the bag.

Agree wholeheartedly with your abhorrence at the treatment of the mink in the intensive farms in Denmark. Truly inhumane. Sadly this ill treatment/abuse of animals goes on around the world in farms, in the wild and in people's homes. We have too many people chasing resources, too much pursuit of material assets and instant gratification at whatever cost to the planet. This really does need to be addressed. It feels as though humans are self destructing.
Peter: Probably the tracing ought to start with the slaughtering. USA electron microscopes did pick up SARS2 in human blood, do it might be in mink blood. Perhaps the virus wiuld be present on the hide until it is tanned. Chemils used in tanning ought to be tried on SARS2 samples to see if those kill the virus. 😷🐹
@McDonalds Farmer Dont know about your first statements, but the last is just plain and obviously wrong. If any of the tests are contaminated, then it must be from the people who is handling the tests, and just happen to leave virus on the test kit. The kits themself does not contain any virus, and cannot sustain a living virus on or in it for longer then anywhere else. Please stop scaring people who may need to use these tests, it is not productive, it is infact damn irresponsable of you !

Until the good doctor spoke of Denmark fur farms, I had no idea they are in Canada (mink and fox). The US has around 260 farms. I hope they are aware of this mutation getting into their livestock. Thank You, Sir. You were the catalyst to motivate me into action. As a full time employed chubby 76 year old I have become concerned about my viral immune response since I am an ex-smoker, have moderate COPD, and had pneumonia 18 months ago. My D-25 had ranged from 20-29 for years. As of yesterday it tested at 59. Personally take 6,000 IU D3, 50mg Zinc, 500mg C, 400mg Magnesium, and 100mcg K2 mk7. I may not be invulnerable but at least now I'm better armed for the viral wars. You have blessed my family and a lot of the internet with critical knowledge. Thank You again!
At least, vaccines aren't being built from the ground, up. I would hope this just means that this strain would now have to be included into the vaccine. Kind of like how the flu shot has to be updated.
What do you mean? We've known about the minks since end August-start September and we've been handling it since. It takes time to kill 17mil Minks. We already killed several million and only recently have we decided to kill them all. But the spread has been stopped. No new cases since September. So rest assured the strain is handled. The final killign is just a precautionary measure to prevent more mutations going out. Not sure where Doc John get's his 5 Nov from. That's when they finally decided to kill all Minks. We've been on the ball for months
@Chas Maravel I find myself wondering if people in the past who dealt with even more devastating epidemics and pandemics with little to no understanding of what they were or how they were happening may have been slightly better off psychologically than we are today where we can completely understand the what, why, where, who, & how in addition to having extremely high quality ways and methods to combat it, and yet we must all live day to day, moment to moment watching the absolute bungling of responses and lack of individual responsibility from the global community at large. We could absolutely get this virus under control relatively quickly but we just won’t. The cognitive dissonance is a daily psychological beating. The idiocy and straight up lack of giving a crap from so many people who are in leadership roles is astounding and exhausting for those of us who understand what the stakes are here.
Australia here. I wonder if we have the resources to deal with 2 concurrent pandemics, suspect not. I am going to call it SarCov-3 (in effect a new virus) It does not need to be more virulent to significantly raise the mortality rate, just overwhelm the hospital capacity. Nature is really .........off with us.
@Chas Maravel It's a DIFFERENT strain in Denmark and new to doctors. Yes, new variations may be out there. We have nothing to do but fight the virus we know and wait and see what comes down the pike. Breathe!
It seems very interesting Dr. Campbell. I will hope your subtitles option to understand better the video. Thank you so much for all your help informing people on this important subject.

Hi John, hope youre both well. Mail on line are saying the elderly and shielding are going to get Vit D delivered to their homes next month. I wonder if Matt Hancock has been listening to your updates!!!
This is an interesting change of direction, had they started that in the summer, I'd expect at least a 3rd less hospital admissions. Another issue would be dosage, the recommended 800iu isn't close to a real world number especially if you are low, and most old and at risk will be well low on vit D. Sadly next month is too late, they should actually arrange direct shots of vit d , you can get an injection which is a huge amount of vit D and kicks in almost immediately. This would give those at risk a fighting chance but 800iu would take months to kick in. It's a step in the right direction, I would personally have those at risk get a booster shot of vitamin D, it will kick in quicker and last several months (e.g over the winter).
At least your government is doing something. Here in the USA, there's nothing! No help for us shut ins, immunocomprimised, elderly. Nothing. I wish I was in the UK.

The samples were made in september. As in; the swap was made in september. Then the PCR test takes about 24 hours to complete. And then the complete genome sequencing takes about 1-2 weeks, for each sample. And then the mutation needs to be flagged - and then tested against anti-bodies. So a minimum of 3 weeks will pass, but may take a bit longer if there are backlogs. Or if other things that may add a day of processing here and there. So the different reaction to the anti-bodies was first observed on Monday. Tuesday scientists double checked. Wednesday the politicians were informed. As I recall, Thursday there was a pressconference, that announced changes to be in effect by friday. Friday, the North of Jutland was in lock-down.
this timeline is not true. Already in October 13th, they knew this: "For the first time, it appears that the virus mutations may complicate or completely eliminate the effect of a future coronavine vaccine. This is what SSI says in an interview with DR News." The real timeline can be seen here: www.dr.dk/nyheder/politik/tidslinje-saadan-har-myndighederne-kaempet-med-coronasmitte-hos-mink
And even back on September 18th, they said: "Two days later, SSI and the University of Copenhagen write an epidemiological report. It states that the altered virus "potentially (may, ed.) Result in herd immunity not occurring and that vaccines will not work." www.dr.dk/nyheder/politik/tidslinje-saadan-har-myndighederne-kaempet-med-coronasmitte-hos-mink
@@Chinadesdeelaire The DR.DK timeline does NOT include the specifics of the scientific observations, only some general phrases about (potential) danger. Action WAS taken according to these general phrases about potential danger. But if you go and watch the press-conference on Nov 4. You will see Kåre give specific scientific data, and not just general phrases. Now.3 was the first time ACTUAL evidence was observed. "In a Petri dish", as he calls it. Until then it was just a possibility that we needed to be very concerned about. In the DR.DK timeline, they have (for some reason) avoided to refer to what was specifically said on the press conference, by the scientist, about scientific evidence. I do not know why DR has chosen to be so vague, when the actual precise information IS available, even in their own internal documentation and archives.

A question please Dr. John. If the virus has mutated to make it more suited to mink, then does that imply that it is now LESS suited to humans? I am puzzled how the virus is able to jump back to humans.
John i played a couple of your videos about the mink live in us on America News Network this is my channel and I've been following and watching you from the begining of the pandemic i do appreciate all your info And god bless you
They have skipped animal testing altogether and are testing in humans, it's called "Warp Speed". The manufacturers are doing their own "safety testing".. you cannot sue them for harm caused, they've been indemnified.. What could go wrong?🤣🤣🤣
When I was growing up back in the '60's in South Dakota, mink farms were quite common until an epidemic among the mink pretty much put an end to mink farming. I don't recall the name of the virus that attacked the mink , but if I recall correctly there was some concern about its transmission to humans. This resulted in the culling of most of the mink in the mink farms. Mink seem to be susceptible to respiratory infections as well as a host of other ailments; see lib.dr.iastate.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=2270&context=iowastate_veterinarian . I was not aware that mink farms still existed, but since they apparently still do, it's not surprising that the Covid 19 would find the mink farms the perfect place to mutate.
Remember the Greenpeace advert? 'It takes up to 40 dumb animals to make a fur coat and just one dumb animal to wear it'. Thankyou Dr Campbell for pointing out the inhumane method of farming mink as well as your very informative update.
I watch your updates daily now, excellent stuff :) I can see how genuinely invested you are in every bit of good (and bad) news you share. More people need to watch your videos. Thank you sir
I actually thought mink farming had ended decades ago, I was shocked in May after reading mink were passing on a cross mutated Covid strain to farm workers, I wounder about other animal farms to such as pigs and poultry, is this why China killed millions of chickens and pigs months ago.
Wonder no more. WHO recommendations NOT to test out meat supply so USDA is refusing to even after a concerned group of scientists petitioned the government for the testing data. Funny as WHO is mouthpiece of China and I saw China bulldozing millions of live pigs into a miles long pit to be buried alive early in the pandemic. www.foodsafetynews.com/2020/07/usda-wont-require-meat-and-poultry-testing-for-covid-19/
As a Canadian, I avoid American meat products as I don't trust their testing. I buy organic regardless, and only a little due to cost and preference for health reasons.
How surprising was this Denmark mink discovery, this shows that facts are not the same with our beliefs. All animal farming is ''animal suffering factories'' and chinese are by far not the biggest producers in this world! Just look at meat consumption per capita, open up eyes and educate yourself!
Quite predictable John that this virus, as do so many others, would mutate. The worrying issue now is how do the scientific community deal with it. Very worrying 😕
@Chris Stevens Not true at all. Apparently no one has read any of my posts on the previous video. Explanation (again) follows: The virus binds to human ACE2 receptors via a RBD (receptor binding domain - a matching section of the spike protein that acts like a 'key') that is able to bind to those receptors. If a mutation was necessary to infect mink - if mink have a different ACE2 RBD than humans - then that would mean that some spike proteins or all spike proteins would need to have an RBD capable of binding to mink ACE2. If the virus is capable of spreading from mink (or more likely all mustelids - including mink) back to humans, then the virus released by the mink must possess both receptor binding domains, or else there would be some manufactured virus that possesses one RBD for mink (capable of infecting other mink cells) and other manufactured virus that possesses the other RBD for humans (which would not be capable of infecting other mink cells but could be spread back to humans). The vaccines that have been developed so far are targeting the S (spike) protein; I don't know if the antibody is supposed to directly target the RBD or some other complex on the spike protein (in which case there would be no concern with any change in the RBD) - I suspect a person's body would produce a diversity of antibodies that can bind to all parts of the S protein, since that's all the information we're giving the body through the vaccine. But if an antibody a person's body produces is targeting the RBD of the S protein, then as long as the virus has the correct RBD for humans, it will still be able to bind, which means the antibodies produced after vaccination or after recovery will still be effective in providing acquired immunity.
@Brigid Are you going to add something of value? Are you even capable, or are you just being a sycophant? I haven't seen any evidence that Dr. Campbell reads the comments, so your vote of willing support probably won't be noticed by him.
@@SirRandom And a good thing that they can't, since Dr. John has advocated in the past that the strictest possible Australia-style lockdowns (house arrest) should now be enacted in all affected nations, which would probably slow the spread of virus but would also paralyze the entire globe. I'm quickly becoming disillusioned with him, but he does report news which I think is valuable.
I can visibly see the disappointment in your face Dr, lessons not being learned are they, that is what happens when there is a financial cost put against everything including lives. All year you have been playing down the possibility of mutations and playing up vaccines, I predict your next disappointment is on the way very soon 😔 I appreciate your time and effort making these videos I find them very informative even though I do not always agree with your conclusions.
We're learning as we go along. This mink mutation was only discovered in November. Before that there was good reason to suspect a vaccine would work, now it's not so likely....if it's a conspiracy how does that benefit big pharma? They've already put a lot of time & money looking for a vaccine now that could be down the pan.
@dave smith Which scientist ? Which goverment ? Million of scientist and almost 200 country around the world involved in this matter. Do you want to say : all of them is trustworthy and / or stupid ? This is all plandemic ? If you think so... you should think again.
Its not financial cost, since delaying the reaction will pose a much larger and possibly inconmensurable larger cost. It is ineptitude of the authorities. Authorities that are chosen not based on their capabilities but on empty popularity contests.
Hancock lied about flawed research on vitamin D while people like Professor Ennos, Shiva and thousands more called for it months ago along with independent SAGE so it was all deliberate. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_eJuj0rx-48.html gbdeclaration.org/ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W0vL0281s5c.html ru-vid.com ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-abt98KiZpz8.html institute.global/policy/digital-identity-missing-piece-governments-exit-strategy off-guardian.org/2020/11/06/face-masks-a-danger-to-our-planet-our-children-ourselves/ www.aier.org/article/open-letter-from-medical-doctors-and-health-professionals-to-all-belgian-authorities-and-all-belgian-media/ efile.fara.gov/docs/3301-Exhibit-AB-20200714-38.pdf
Well done Doctor Campbell because the Minx situation in Denmark I was curious about. Who stands up for the animals ultimately because the majority feel like you do although I can’t hear one voice talking for animals .
Very informative video as always. Hopefully you will be able to get your vitamin D3 after advising us all to take it. Thank you so much for all your time and energy to keep us all informed. Bless you, stay safe.
They have waited to harvest the minks until they are fully grown. (They are on a synchronous growing cycle and are normally harvested in November or December.) Profit comes first. :-(
Absolutely appalled to see the mink in cages so small they can hardly turn around. This is beyond disgusting. The EU should take a stand and ban this cruel industry. Who on earth is wearing mink clothing these days?
Dr. Campbell, Any more word on the COVID-19 virus mutation in Norway that you reported on several days ago? Is this the same mutation? If so, it seems to indicate that the virus has already spread beyond Denmark since Sept. and closing borders is a little like closing the stable door after the horse is long gone.
It takles time to do the PCR test (24h), and then gnome sequencing of positive PCR tests (1-2 weeks), and then mutation identification (1 day). And anti-body testing on mutations (1day). From the first anti-body test, showing different behavior, in a Petri dish, on Monday night. To the announcement (Thursdays) of a complete lock-down of the region (and announcing a wiping out all Mink in Demark and a permanent loss of 1% of the Danish GNP,) it took only two days. I do not think it could have been done any faster.
Sorry think you misunderstood its the fact that they new all this eailer in the year this should have been looked in to way before now but thank you for the information
We've been on the ball for months.
@@beersmurff Stat Serum Institute talks about Mink strains being found in 200+ people. I'm more concerned about the mink farms in other countries like USA who aren't getting this info fast enough (if they even care to act on it)
