To clarify a mistake I made in this video, the gps is in the motor itself. The heading sensor is basically only useful during the spot lock jog function

I taped my sensor in a couple places to see if it worked better in some positions than the others before drilling any holes. It sits on top of the console in my 24' Pathfinder. It works fine through the plexiglass windshield for the bow mounted Riptide Ulterra.
It comes on and off with the motor. It has a blinking light that shows if its on or off. I have many items straight wired to by battery. If its not running its not drawing anything. Its the way the instructions say to do it
Thanks for the video. Would you see any issue with connecting the puck to the 12v battery that I run the trolling motor off of? That would be much easier for me with my boat than the main cranking motor.
@@bluegrassstateofmind4542 thank you for the reply! I figured since it's just a really small draw for the puck it would be minimal drain on the trolling motor battery and then I wouldn't worry that it's slowly sucking the cranking battery down.
I see you connected the GPS puck directly to the battery; did you install an in-line switch or is there constant 12v power to the puck. Secondly, what size shaft on your Terrova
No switch, it shuts off after the motor is turned off. 60"inch shaft. I say always go with the longest available. You can always raise it but you cant add length.
