Minn Kota Riptide in heavy seas 

This one was the 101, I've since upgraded to the 112 with i-Pilot. Yes, it keeps me within a few feet in all but the worst conditions. There are days that we drift live bait back into boulder fields and I never move for the entire 6 hours of moving tide. Spot Lock has changed the way I fish... I couldn't fish the way I do without it!

Anchoring in tide and heavy rips like that can be a pain in the ass. Not having to haul the anchor every time I want to move a bit is nice too. We are using big live baits that are up to 20", they like to swim all around the boat (especially when getting chased) and can get wrapped up in the anchor line. Many days we are throwing big top waters in shallow flats for fish that are very skittish so being in stealth mode with the trolling motor is a huge advantage too.

+An American Gose fishing ah stripers will hit 20" bait, I just use hearing I catch though the little action on the Hudson is all I got so far.

do you have the anchor option on your trolling motor? can that keep you close to the same spot in the waves?
