I've owned 2 Minn Kota's. The first was the 30lb thrust C2 and it lasted until i sold it. I then got the 50lb thrust endura max. I didn't use it long enough to have an opinion on it. When I sold my lil 8 foot Sun Dolphin I had the 30lb on the front and the 50lb on the back. Great review. I have friends that have the EM and they have similar issues as yours. Hats off to Minn Kota for sending you a knew lower. Side note..... I have finally retired and moved to Utah out of California. I am going to wait until at least spring time to get a boat. It's too cold and some of the lakes around here freeze so I would need to wait to get it in the water anyway. Thanks for the channel. Fish on!!!

Congratulations on retirement. Has to feel great. Hope you have a long and healthy retirement. Minn Kota was great to work with on the new part so I don't want to beat them up too bad. That said, they need to address the issue going forward with new motors. Looking forward to Spring already. More reviews and mods coming soon. Fish On DT.

Even with Minn Kota send me a new head unit which was nice of them, I still would buy the C2 next time. I was able to install the new head unit without issue so we will see how it goes. Thanks for watching and glad to be of some help. Fish on!

I have a c2 45 lb thrust on my pelican pond prowler 8footer . It works great i think it moves 4mph in 5th. I've retired and I'm going to get a tracker xl , so i can cover more water. But understand i love my pelican and you channel. I haven't decided to get rid of my pelican, because it is so stealthy. I love it .

That's great you are getting a tracker. Those are nice boats. Hold on to that Pelican. They still can get places they bigger bass boats can't as you know. I really and kicking around getting a fishing pontoon boat. Can't pull the trigger just yet but even if I do, I will keep the PBR. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Great review , thank you. I have an Intex Explorer K1 Kayak. Im looking at adding a Minn Kota 30lb - 30 inch C2 - 30 motor. Any thoughts ? Would the 30lb push it ok , or would you recommend a 40 or 50lb ?

To me, I would want something very light for a kayak. I feel as though the smaller models move you around just fine. My old fishing partner had a Pelican 8e and a minn kota 30 and it more than did the job

As I understand the difference in trolling motor sizes, a 55 isn’t supposed to be faster than a 45 at optimal top speed. I think the 55 is supposed to be faster if you were heading into a stronger wind. The 55 might be able to go 3.5 into wind where the 45 might only get 2 or 2.5 mph. I could be wrong. I have the 45 c2 and often wish I had more power but maybe a 55 wouldn’t be much better . 🤷🏻‍♂️

I can't really say for sure Pat. I don't notice any top speed difference or really any difference when it comes to wind etc. I would much rather get weight down especially when fishing that swamp I love. The boat sits up high on the bank and makes for interesting dismounts and loading. Taking the motor off in awkward positions make the lighter ones more appealing. I probably should have just bought a 30 this time. Hopefully I can get that new control head installed on that 44. It will go back to being my main driver for sure and the 50 will get turned around for Honda trips. Thanks for watching and Happy Thanksgiving. Fish on!

@@fishingwithvance I completely understand the weight advantage, I never take my trolling motor off. My favorite mod for my boat is the jet ski trailer I tow it with. I can back my trailer into my one car garage and keep motor, fish finder, batteries, seat and rods all on the boat. The charger can be hooked to batteries while still on the boat. So nice.
