Quick question. When you directly mount something to your boat, like the fish finder holder for example, what kind of screws are you using? Do they hold in place over time or does the plastic on the boat give way or strip over time? Thanks!
I use lathe self tapping screws and some marine sealant. I have avoided putting holes in the boat opting for velcro tape or flex tape where possible. Sometimes it's unavoidable though for things like the Lowrance. I start the screws with a drill but then finish putting them in by hand being careful not to overtighten. Mine have not worked lose so far. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Fish on!
Timely video! Just got my trolling motor and got this prop to put on it. I will be using it on the bow transom. Glad to see it works well. My lakes have mostly light weeds so this should work perfectly for me.
That's great Mark. I was actually surprised at the difference. Moves the boat faster in open water too so that's a bonus. Good luck with your new motor. Have a great season. Fish on!
It's good to see a $20 investment works to an 85% satisfaction. I know I was impressed with how well it did in the SWAMP! When I had my 55lb thrust Kota in a medium weed lake, the motor quit working because I had weeds all tangled up inside the prop area. (I wish I had the weedless wedge) So I say yes to the "WEEDLESS WEDGE". Thanks for sharing..... Fish on!!!
No question the $20 was worth it. Hope fishing is going well for you in Retirement. Pretty slow for me for May and June. Not enough caught on any given trip to make a decent video. Thanks for watching DT. Fish on!
Do you think the weed wedge would do as good “pulling” forward as opposed to “pushing” forward? I reversed my head and put trolling motor on front of bass raider. Also is the weed wedge as bad in open water as it is in weeds when in reverse?
I may switch the head around on my 50lb Motor and then depending on where I'm fishing, select the motor accordingly. On the open water, reverse actually does really well on the Weed Wedge. Thanks for watching and the comment. Fish on!
I know my question is just looking for an (your) opinion at the moment. I switched my head unit on minn kota 55 so that I can mount it on front of bass raider and use it in “forward” operation. So my prop is “under” the boat when on front and I’m using forward operation of motor. With the prop/motor on front and prop “under” boat “pulling/pushing”” the boat across lake do you “think” it would still be as good for weedless operation with motor operating in forward mode? I use a rudder on back (until I get gas motor) to minimize side to side drifting of boat.
I'm not sure. I don't like fishing out the front since I don't have a rudder either. Some guys think I'm nuts for fishing out the back. Guess just used to it.
Although I'm disappointed also in the performance of the prop in reverse. It's truly amazing how it chopped it's way through all those weeds. Very impressive if I say so myself. Are you going to spin around the handle of your trolling motors now? So you can continue driving your boat in the direction you're comfortable with.
I enjoyed getting the blowups and catching a couple. I will definitely use it again this season. The lure that eludes me is the frog. I have tried many times. I have hooked them, just not landed any. That one will be done for sure. Thanks for watching. Fish on!
So you can catch fish with different lures. I will need to give that a try because I can't catch fish with the same ol lures I always use. So far this spring..... 1 White Bass. Great video. I like the PIP Chart, that's cool. Fish on!!!
Those Baby bass dudes are so versatile don't you think? Can be fished in so many ways with different presentations. They just catch them ya know. Thanks for watching. Fish on and have a great season. Thanks for checking out the mods too.
As long as you're catching fish the way in which you go about doing it doesn't matter. My brother fishes backward also and it works for him. Great video the swamp is producing some really healthy bass this year.
When I had my 8ft Sun Dolphin, I also fished out of the back of the it. I used the reverse on the Kota a lot, just like you. So from my standpoint you fish normal. Nice looking Bass you caught. I like how the Bass jumped 3 times out of the water while hooked on the "Randy's". A lot of your bass today were a lil jumpy. It looks cool to see them jump out of the water but I know on your end, you are like don't jump and spit the hook.! Great video. Fish on!!!
Thanks DT. So I guess I'm not the only "insane" one. I really liked that underspin. I have to try that at other lakes less weedy and later in the season too. Swamp is spoiling me right now, I need to fish other spots but man, getting 6 or 8 of the 1.5 to 2.5 lbers sure is fun. Next vid, another lure off the PIP has fallen and only two to go on the NEVER CAUGHT list. Thanks as always for watching. Fish on DT.
@@fishingwithvance Yes I’ve taken the boat out to 3 different lakes in the area but the water temps have been in the 40’s and I don’t have down riggers yet to get deep enough for the trout. This month we should see a turn in temps and fishing will get better. 👍Fish on!!!
Honestly, the best ones we have built are the ones on seat brackets. Strongest and most stable. IMO. Thanks for watching Jett. Fish on in SC my friend.
Great update on the Mods. You answered all my questions from the last video. Have you already reinforced the table? I do like the size and how you have more room underneath the table. Hopefully the table works out without too much added weight. You’re definitely lighter with the lith battery instead of a marine battery. Looking forward to the upcoming fishing videos. Thanks for sharing. Fish on!!!
Yeah, KastKings reels suck the only products from them that I actually liked were their Kong rods and their tripolymer fishing line but that's all I can really truly recommend from them.
Looks like a great day. Well it must have been you caught some good looking Bass in the swamp. What are your water temps right now? We are still in the high 40's in my area of Utah. Another week or two we should be in the high 50's. How was all the mods and upgrades? The prop, the new table, the new app for the battery? Great video, keep'em coming. Fish on!!!
Water temp that day was right at 60. Things should get going now. Next video coming out goes over all the mods. Some were great and some not so much. Hope your weather turns for you soon. Thanks for watching. Fish on!
I have Dakota 23ah and 54ah and I lost the screw on my 54ah. Where can I find the replacement screw? Also anyone has suggestions to have replacement of these screws like wing nuts or any advise ? Any photos to show me? Thanks in advance!
I looks like a great idea for an inexpensive price. It looks like it’ll do the job. Do you have any issues with battery life on your phone? I had a battery box on my old marine battery and it had a battery life meter but also USB port to charge my phone. I’m looking forward to seeing you catch some Bass. We are headed to camp near a small body of water that doesn’t allow motors so I’m taking an inflatable kayak. I’ll send pics if I get lucky. Thanks for the video. Fish on!!!
I don't have issues with battery life on the phone. I suppose my trips are short enough and normally in the AM so fresh cellphone battery. Pouring rain again today so no fishing but I'll be getting out a ton over the next 2 months. Good luck at camp. Hope you get some and please share some pics if you do. Thanks for watching and Fish on!
It looks like the Weedless Wedge just might do the job. It is much bigger. Good luck this weekend for the trout season opener. I have taken my boat out twice in March to a lake that is mostly a trout lake. The lake gets 100 ft deep. I tried spot fishing and trolling but didn't have any luck. I will need to invest in down riggers at some point but they are expensive. The water temps here are still in the low 40's. There is another lake that averages about 10-15 ft deep but has a lot of Carp and Catfish in it. I want to try taking the boat out on that lake now that I have a fish/depth finder. I'll send pics if and when I catch something. I can't wait to see PBR10 out in the Swamp or Bragg. Fish on!!!
Looking forward to those pics of fish caught off the new setup that is for sure. Weather will be turning around soon I hope for all of us. We are having flood rains the past two days or so here in Western Pa so trout in the stream will have to wait. I think it is about 4 ft too high right now and raining again as I type this. ugh. We will have to shift gears and hopefully get out on the PBR10 instead even just to wet a line and fish for some trout in a lake. I wonder how long until I chuck the trout gear and start going after Bass. I give it 10 minutes. Catter will be going so that will make it fun. Can't wait to see if this Weedless Wedge makes a significant difference. Thanks for watching and Fish on soon DT!
@fishingwithvance I fish with my rod slightly at angle with bait clicker on, I don't do the European way of carp fishing. Gonna get that bite alarm it loud and I'm pretty hard of hearing... Tight Lines buddy 😎🤘 Ps. I do use a method feeder and Hair rig set up 100% when carp fishing 🎣
