Absolutely gorgeous restoration. I love the 1974 paint Job. Perfect. That is one beautiful bike. I'm definitely becoming a fan of the Kawasaki Z1. I'm so glad you have saved and given new life to these vintage bikes and kept them as they are meant to be. Thank You to the Johnny's Vintage Team. Although this is my favourite Colour Z1, I'd still like to see a professional job done in Olive Green with Rust Orange Pinstripes in this style. Just a dream.

Again a very nice build that is right down my alley. I posted a comment about a week ago on how I want to customize my kz 1000. And then I saw this project you built and it hit the nail right on the head. I like the chrome and the wider tire and the grips. But there's a couple other things I want to add to mine. I want a swing arm that is just a little bit longer than stock but not to long like a cafe racer. I also want to lower the bike a few inches. And install a oil cooler with braided hoses. Plus I want my spedo and tach rebuilt by your Florida guy. And I remembered an episode I watched when you first used him and you said that it isn't cheap, so I was wondering what that cost also? Other than that this bike is spot on! Excellent job!!! Scott Harrington, West Jefferson/ Columbus Ohio.

Scotty, I've seen the meters go for between $400 and $600, depending on what's wrong with them, for the set. I'm sure we can address your needs. Come on up, bring the bike and we'll have a meeting.
@scottyharrington164
@scottyharrington164 6 лет назад
Johnnysvintagemotorcycle Thanks for your prompt response. My wife and I are discussing when we could free up some time to come up and sit down and make a game plan for our build. We will be in touch very soon and look forward to meeting you. And as of the meters I was on the same page estimating around $500.00 for the set. Thanks again for your time and consideration. Scott Harrington.

Hi Willie, we can't find your request on the Kerker in the string of comments, so we'll just reply here: " I would like to get a price on a kerker exhaust for a 78 KZ650" (A black Kerker exhaust for his bike would be $969.95.)

Super nice bike, enjoy watching your videos... I'm new to Kawasaki's but all of sudden have 3 of em... About the pods - all the gurus on the forums say u can't get the bikes to run right with them.that u need the airbox... Can u do a video about how u tune with pods? Thanks.

1974 год и уже дисковые тормоза, а объем движка вообще улет. Я родился в 1977 году, а уже был такой крутой мот, просто мечта.

Johnny, I have watched a lot of you vids and you do a great job. I am in Australia and I am reconditioning a 1977 Z400 D4. I am struggling to get front brake parts. Could you tell me who you source brake seals from. I have looked everywhere on the net.

What does it cost to restore spoke wheels using the Buchanan? SS spokes? Do you suggest re-chroming the rim if it is in usable but rough shape cosmetically?

Excellent looking motorcycle, I’m really impressed. About how long did the entire process take?
@Johnnysvintage
@Johnnysvintage 6 лет назад
It takes at least 100 man-hours, but it has to be spread out as we have to farm out our polishing, powder coating, etc.

Are there any advantages to going to a 16" rear wheel?
@Johnnysvintage
@Johnnysvintage 5 лет назад
No, most people just did it for the look and later the LTD went to the 16" in 76 from the factory. Because of the profile of the tire, it usually came out the same anyway. Usually the width of the rim was wider on the 16 vs the standard 18 inch which was 2.5 width.
