Nearly 90% of students at Minnesota's St. Olaf College will vote in the 2024 election. NBC News' Joe Fryer reports on how non-partisan "election ambassadors" who encourage classmates to cast their ballots.

Who is the thing if you make voting a part of your culture a part of something everybody does and everybody motivates others to do regardless of how you vote people will vote. On a college campus if you don’t motivate students to vote, they may not vote, but if you have groups on campus, pushing asking, did you vote and letting others know that we did vote? It becomes part of the culture it’s one of the things to do. Most colleges have a midnight breakfast around finals because it’s one of the things to do. Simply make voting one of those things. in fact, election day in America should be a national holiday where we push people to vote. We don’t make you vote, but we make it part of our culture to vote.

Dude it's Minnesota we've really high turn out in primaries even. Several people dropped in for a Ilhan Omar's primary, on a random seeming Tuesday that was for her and city elections. My daughter loved doing her pretend ballot and getting a sticker. Also known as yo kiddo this is important let's gamify this. We have enough locations and volunteers that it's just walk in verify address and name bam voting done. I get emails telling me I'm in the top of voters for turnout like a silent American hero story just for me.

You don’t know these college students! Unlike most of the rest of the country, Minnesota has excellent schools. These students have a good education and are very well informed on the issues. And since they will outlive us all, they have a real reason to participate in the politics that will rule over them.

@bobcob3362 They‘re also the people who have to live in the world that we are creating. They are the people who have to live with the climate change Republicans are working towards. They are also not so full of the bitterness and propaganda the average 60-year-old FoxNews watcher has absorbed over the last decades. I know, I know: these people don‘t vote how YOU like it, therefore they should not get to vote. Because people like you don‘t really like democracy.
