I mean, this is the same kicker that made 3 other field goals including a 50 yarder earlier in the game. Not saying they shouldn't have been mad, but damn that offense with AD should've been able to grind out one touchdown you'd think

Holy shit Phil! I was just east of the 50 yrd line 3rd row behind the Vikes bench and everybody was hugging and hi 5in and my gf at the time was grabbing my shoulders like "he's gonna do it we're gonna win".. And I got that same feeling..... You had to hold your breath to see that day it was so f-n cold.. But I didn't look I knew he would miss. Such is the fate of a Viking fan. We sat there in the stands until everyone went in the tunnel and I was the guy that yelled (raging scream)"F-u Walsh" as he ran into the tunnel. A bunch of coaches and trainers looked at me and could see the anguish in my face, I could tell they understood. Needless to say I had my son kick a 27 yarder 2 years ago at training camp in eagan barefoot just to reinforce my feelings about that day. He was a kicker/punter at irondale now in college at Mankato for civil engineering.

Went to the gopher game against Nebraska that year in 2015 on that end zone. I knew he was gonna miss it because of the wind in that open section and Blair being more of a right hash kicker. Still hurts 💀

I will never forget being at that game. The air temp high was -6F. It was the 2nd season of being at outdoor games and I finally got my layers dialed in so I could last a whole game in cold weather. We stood the entire game because as soon as you sat down you got cold and you weren’t going to warm up. I remember walking around the concourse of TCF at halftime seeing the Seahawks fans who thought their fancy North Face jackets were going to keep them warm and laughing at their misery. Somewhere in my house I have a certificate from the Vikings for attending the coldest game in Vikings history. I was so anxious to get to warmth by the end of the game I don’t think I was even that mad. I do have a theory on why Walsh missed. On one of his earlier makes the refs let a Seahawk come off the edge a little early and he nearly blocked the kick. I think Walsh was subconsciously thinking about that and hurried his kick which made him yank it left. Just a theory. No way I could do another game outdoors like that.

I was watching this game with my dad. Watched us get down the field with that huge throw and catch/run from Kyle Rudolph. I wish they'd go for the gd tuddy. As soon as they line up for the FG, my dad says "they got this. Nice win!" I just stare at him and start "Wtf you just say that for, you effing jinxed it!!!" Dad is like "Nah, 27 yards, it's a chippy!" He's not actually a Vikings fan, generally only watches college, whereas I've watched Vikings my whole life. He doesn't understand what he did. Blair whiffs. My dad's jaw drops in disbelief. We don't watch Vikings games together anymore lol!

@@AftertheReviewSports So Sirles was dead wrong that we already beat Arizona that year. Arizona was the #2 seed and had a really good year - we went in to AZ and almost came back to beat them but Teddy got strip sacked by Dwight Freeney while driving to tie the game (I think that was one of 3-4 times that year he got blindside strip sacked to end a game)

I told him “son this shit is far from a guarantee”. 30 seconds later I turned to him and said “ welcome to Vikinghood son” as he stared in disbelief.

I was working with no worries about the kick. I was like good they’re going to line this up and kick the game winner. Then it hit like a ton of bricks inside my head. “He might miss” and sure 💩 he did. I looked as soon as he kicked it and I thought I just watched Saturday night live and someone is f@cking playing a joke on my eye balls. Ya I couldn’t believe it. That team I thought was poised to make a run after that game. That team was solid. Always in it and was never embarrassed. That was a good team, and it was a shame to see it go to waste.

@MavisRecon
@MavisRecon Год назад
Yep! The offense played like garbage that game and most of the season too. Normally I wouldn't say anything, but since everyone treated Bridgewater like he was God, and he deserves infinitely less than that, I think I need to sprinkle a little context on this heap of homerism. Bridgewater was an unproductive, inaccurate, noodle arm QB who threw as many touchdowns as he did interceptions. Thankfully he didn't throw a lot of touchdowns! He road the coattails of AP and the defense and made tons of mistakes: He was barely a net positive influence on the offense. As much as I hate today's kickers, who really look like they are nothing but a bunch of points shavers anymore, Teddy can shoulder some (most) of that blame too. If not, then the entire offense can. And that's the bottom line cause Stone Cold said so. All the "real fans" ever said about Teddy was that he "knows how to win!" This just in: APPARENTLY NOT!

@richardlug6139 Год назад
@@jamespratt7526 Well I do not blame Kirk for the Vikings lost as you are right the defense lost that game and basically sucked all year, but that last pass by Kirk was just plain dumb as there was no way he was going to get a 1st down. Just chuck it down field toward who is ever past the first down marker and hope for the best.

@frozennorth3426 Год назад
@@jamespratt7526 Yeah. I’m not sure that we were in “a huge hole” (1m48s was plenty of time left and we were at midfield and only down 7), but Kirk absolutely reverted to pre-2022 “Checkdown Kirk” and shit the bed on 4th and 8, probably even more than Walsh on that 27-yard field goal, but it’s true that it wouldn’t have been an issue if the points we’d already scored were greater than the points we’d already given up.
