Two former NFL offensive linemen (Alex Boone and Jeremiah Sirles) join former 8th grade football backup (Phil Mackey) for entertaining, behind-the-scenes discussions about the NFL -- from a trenches perspective! Your Dumb Football Questions are always welcome on the OLine Committee. An offensive line lifestyle podcast!
Every advanced stat says Purdy is an at worst a Top 10 QB, and many place him firmly in the Top 5. Jimmy G, Trey Lance, CJ Betheard, Nick Mullins, and Sam Darnold couldn’t produce anywhere near Purdy’s level. Since that Miami game in 2022, nobody has more TDs or fewer INTs. Nobody averages more air yards per attempt or completion. No QB in NFL history has ever had a season where they were top 5 in yards and bottom half in completions. That’s called efficiency!
Spot on. Some of the best analysis I've seen of 16s play. Those second and third order effects of oline being trash and how his injury relates to loss of mobility needed make perfect sense and were extremely helpful in understanding some of jaguars struggles in the later part of the year
Take the kiss my Superbowl ring tier and just drop it under the better than people give them credit for tier. Put Mike T in his own tier above both those tiers and drop McCarthy to the update your linked in pro file tier.
I had forgotten about that awful run of OC injuries in 2014. Seems like we lost one a week for a stretch there. And I kind of recall them all playing better than expected too.
When you think about it a good chunk of these people who make the pros come from not the greatest upbringing or having really hard beginnings and you’d think they wouldn’t dare do anything to mess up this job that literally ends generational poverty but yet they always find a way to just throw it all away kinda sad tbh
Jags fans getting a reality check in 25. Get used to looking up at Cows and Colts, maybe even Titans for awhile. Turnover machine QB behind an invisible OL gonna bury your team.
DFQ: How do teams balance consistency with unpredictability? You want to be good at the plays you run but the more you put the same things on film the more opponents can predict and plan for them. Week to week what was the ratio of existing plays to new plays?
A lot of mentally challenged people in life when you talk shit and dont worry about a punch in the head they feel much more brave......civil discussion online is almost impossible
How about giving the Kansas City Chiefs defense some credit. They shut down the run and made Lamar throw the ball. The Ravens can't play from behind, they panicked. Zay Flowers didn't fumble the ball, Sneed punched it out. Penalties created issues. Hit Mahomes in the head... really?
Do you guys watch 49ers games? Because everything described here is completely false. There are more negative plays for McAfree than positive outcomes. When you factor in critical fumbles he's not simple or a given. He is great on occasion, he's not dependable otherwise.
As a Chargers fan who wanted to see Sirles get a crack at RT, I have to wonder if the starter stealing his homework was DJ Fluker. He never seemed prepared or had a clue what was going on.
Dumb football : how much do players care about personal records? Like if you have a teammate close to breaking a single season record or single game record. Do you, as teammates, want to push him over past the records? Like say your running back needs 9 yards to break the all time single season rushing record. Do you guys want to give him the ball? Or is it just all about wins and the stats are just stats?
have you ever told and agent no that coach or offense line is a bunch of idiots i will retire or just go home ... before working with that dude or dudes
Do guys on opposite sides of the ball on the same team help each other get better? EX: Would a buff pass rush guy help his O-Line buddies improve to the point where they can hang with him? DB vs WR, etc?
lol. Aaron Rodgers did the same thing as Favre. Wonder where he learned that? lol. Rodgers pretty much got McCarthy fired...but that loss due to special teams fucking up didn't help either lol
Dumb football question. Can the guys talk about their experiences dropping weight after their playing days? Watched a few youtube vids of Boonie from back in the day and no offense bro but you had massive chipmunk cheeks!
People seem to forget that Dan was a TE for over a decade, and learned from Parcells and Payton. MCDC knows ALL aspects of offensive design, pass pro, run game, route concepts. *And MCDC is 4-2 against LeFluke 🙂
Big ben retired in 2022. Not 6 years ago lol Sirles. Last game was Jan 2022 in a playoff loss to the chiefs. Also Mackey the vikings traded for Dobbs. He started for the cardinals in the beginning of the season.
Fun fact. Andy Reid was 1-4 in the playoffs with the Chiefs before Mahomes. Reid was a playoff choker at the beginning in KC, just like he was in Philly.
I think it's important we all remember this tier list is an opinion from one guy. Was super entertaining to me because it was so wildly different than what we usually hear. I love this show man. Stay humble fellas.
