This was really good but I feel like you brushed over some important music theory stuff , so is this progression in 3 different keys? The last vid went from the key of C to F and then you added this key which is Am.
@Retiep97
@Retiep97 4 года назад
kusaekusae only 2. F major and A minor. Fmaj7 is the First chord. Then you are doing a 2-5 (Bm7b5 - E7) to Am7 and then a 2-5 (Gm7 - C7) back to Fmaj7.
@LEYGSL
@LEYGSL 3 года назад
@@Retiep97 So I take it the a minor must be a melodic minor scale as there is no f# in a natural minor scale? Then when he ends on the 1 it jumps back into the a natural minor scale as there is no a minor 7 in the a melodic minor scale?
@Retiep97
@Retiep97 3 года назад
@@LEYGSL the scale doesn’t matter. Notes out of the key, crates tension. The 2-5 is passing chords. Its a way to crate tension and release and some interest. You can use 2-5 to any chord in any progression. You just have to think the chord you going to, is the “tonic” chord.

@takerushiotani498
@takerushiotani498 4 года назад
why did you decide to flat 5 the 2 chord instead of a regular Bm7?
@Retiep97
@Retiep97 4 года назад
Takeru Shiotani Because if you use the Bm7b5 it fits in the A minor scale. There are no F# in A minor, which would be the natural 5. When you are making 2-5-1. The 1 chord deicide which key you are in. Lets say you have a Cm7 chord and you Next chord are Abmaj7, and you want to make a 2-5-1 to Abmaj7. You are going to use the Ab major scale. So the chords would be Cm7 | Bbm7 - Eb7 | Abmaj7. A good thing to remember is. Are you going to a major chord the 2 chord is always minor7 and 5 chord always dominant7. And are you going to a minor chord you’re 2 chord is minor7b5 and 5 chord always dominant 7.

@stefanguy
@stefanguy 5 лет назад
Apologies if it was a bit fast! So it’s still that yes however we play 4-7-3-6-2-5-1 (F, Bm7b5, E7, Am7, Gm, C, F) so the only chord we really added was the Bm7b5 (the 7) and we changed the 3 to a dominant chord (E7)... so the chord progression is two separate 2-5-1 movements put together (Bm7b5, E7, Am) is our minor 2-5-1. And the (Gm, C, F) is our major 2-5-1 from the last video. It gets confusing because the numbers of the chords change depending on what key you say you’re using. If we looked at this whole chord progression in the key of C it’s 4-7-3-6-2-5-1 but if you break it down it’s built on two 2-5-1s. I hope that makes sense.
