You missed a big point. Google Fi is one of the only MVNOs that offers premium data from T mobile.

Also Google Fi is much better for international travel.

Thank you. Good cost and feature analysis for single user. However, for family of five the Google Fi plan becomes much more economical for unlimited. Using current prices, Mint would cost $30 x 5 = $150/mo, while Google Fi would cost $20 x 5 = $100/mo. Not to mention. If you prefer to go with the 4GB budget on Mint it would cost $75/mo, but is the $25 savings worth it for such a significant data drop? (Perhaps for some, but not with 3 teens in my home!) Thanks again.

Hi Jonathan - depends on how everyone in the family uses it. You can mix and match data plans for each user, so if some users do not use much data (uses mostly Wifi instead), they can opt for 4GB data while other users are on higher plans.

Been with Google Fi for 6 months now haven't had too many issue except turning off and on Airplane mode to reset data when its not responding. but for 80 bucks for 2 lines you can't really beat that I guess. I also use Signal Spy to stay on the T-Mobile side of the service rather than switching to the others. I also have my phone only use 4G and 5G signals and cutting the other options off. But in all Google Fi is not too bad jus the Customer Service is the less to be desired. I also have US Mobile for my business line and have no issue using there service and their Customer Service is better. Mint Mobile data is deprioritized when Google Fi is full Speed just like you would if you had T-Mobile Magenta plans

What speed do you get throttled down to with Google Fi?

I'm traveling for 9 days and use straight talk. Can I use Google Fi with the same phone number or should I get a different one? The google fi I want to use is just for the 9 days for unlimited data which will help with navigation.

I switched to Mint from Republic because I'd long had minor issues with Republic (my visual voicemail never worked) so I decided to give it a try. Immediately my Google pixel Spam call filter stopped working. After a couple of months I started experiencing having absolutely no service, sometimes even in my own house. I had checked the map and I have plenty of coverage here. Still, it would say I needed to get on WiFi despite having plenty of data. So... Yeah mint didn't work for me. :( I suspect it had something to do with my Google pixel. That's why I'm considering Google Fi. But yeah, the prices aren't so great... But thanks for the info! Food for thought. 😁

My daughter's got a couple new phones, Got 2 of the 6mo plans. If it's T mobile the coverage should be fine in our case.

Hope the experience goes well! Should be the case if you had good data service from Metro.

Thanks for the video. Do you know if either Mint or Google have options for international roaming? Thanks
@RichardWalls

Hi Amit - yes they do. Just an extra charge depending on how much data you use.

I personally use Metro by T Mobile, it's never given me an issue, I've moved around quite a bit in my life and it's rarely been an issue as far as coverage. Paying $90 per month unlimited everything, the only BS is you can't "hot swap" your sim. I use a Note 20 U5G as my daily driver but some days I want to use the iPhone 8 or pixel..something smaller for a day or event.

Mint mobile is the best.

Here's the thing. TMobile is great assuming you don't live in a congested area. Unfortunately I do. I have made requests, complaints, and service tickets for damn near 3 years and nothing. So if you live in an area like mine your going to have a serious problem. You are 3rd when the network is congested to get prioritized. T-Mobiles postpaid customers get the benefit of being primary. Then its metro customers followed by any mvno. Which means that the little 5g or late icon in your stats bar is merely a suggestion as to what kind of speeds your going to get. So if reliable connection speed doesn't matter then by all means have at it. Otherwise stick with a carrier like Verizon, at&t or T-Mobile
@llm03d
@llm03d Год назад
Google Fi is not deprioritized on T-Mobile's network and has the same priority as post paid T-Mobile customers. I have Google Fi and it has worked wonderfully on T-Mobile's network compared to Verizon (who I just left) in my area. I would recommend over Google Fi over Mint if having priority data is important to you. It's the same as using T-Mobile's network minus the plan perks like Netflix.
@Cstylz
@Cstylz Год назад
@@llm03d typical they arent deprioritize as google leases access to T-Mobile but during peak hours of heavy congestion they are. All mvno's are. Some more than others. Being that it's tmobile, you are 3rd in line during peak congestion.
@RichardWalls
@RichardWalls Год назад
Have heard this a handful of times in terms of priority. Is there any definitive source where T-Mobile indicates MVNO priority? Or is it based on someone's testing of data speeds?
@stacknsat
@stacknsat Год назад
@RichardWalls I've worked for another major mobile carrier and that's definitely how they are prioritized....hence pricing....think of the club scenario bottle poppers going str8 consuming alot with no issue, skip the line still a little latency but user experience is barely affected, then the people I aint in no rush/ I got other things I have to buy
