MINUANO is one of my all time favorite compositions from the great Pat Metheny. In this session you will enjoy jamming along with me on this fantastic chord progression, which is both simple and challenging at the same time, as most of Pat's music.
I've recorded the interactive backing track on a drum loop (from the app Drumgenius as usually) with an afro style, because, as the title of the song says, the rhythm has a 6/8 feel, although the time signature indicated in the score is 3/4. The resulting pulse is actually a great blend between the two, with the help of the bass line, which moves regularly in 3/4.
Therefore this time, alongside the guitar part, I've also overdubbed a bass part! Please let me know in your comments if you like this solution also for other next interactive backing tracks that I will record in the future.
You can download the pdf of my transcription of the melody and the harmonic progression here:

I always recommend you memorize the melody and the chord progression!
We are going to play two choruses each, switching from comping to soloing, as usually.
After 8 bars INTRO in the first 2 choruses I play the melody, harmonized with the chords. It would sound beautiful if you played a single notes melody, the first time at unison with mine, and the second time an octave higher.
Then you will be the first to improvise.
We can play the final theme the same way, going to the CODA on the very last time.
HARMONIC ANALYSIS:
on the A part we are in the key of A major for 6 bars (on the Bm9 and F#m11) and C major for 4 bars (on the Fmaj7 and G6)
on the B we are mostly in the key of C major/ A minor, except for the secondary dominant A7 (where we can play an arpeggio), the F# sharp halfdiminished, where we can play in the key of G, and the last A chord, where we go back to the key of A major of the A part.
Have fun! PLAY WITH ME!!
