Upgrades for the Tamiya Monster Beetle. MIP ball differential and I have gone for a little more power with a 540 23T Sport Tuned motor. Tutorial on the MIP diff can be found @MIPonline
MIP ball diff all the way. Have one in my BF and Frog. Along with full bearings and the sport tuned motor. Not race ready, but still fun as heck all day. Reminds me of what i wanted them to be back in 87
Cool video fella! I'm a big fan of the monster beetle, and own 3 of them..... and a blackfoot, and mud blaster! As you say, a real fun car, and huge Tamiya icon. Yes, the MIP ball diff is essential! I run technigolds and superstock motors in them, probably went through at least 3 gearboxs in less than a year! The flex/warping of the metal diff plates result in the gears jumping about and chewing themselves up big time, a fault that dates right back to 86! Since fitting the MIP diff I've had no more issues.... from the gearbox anyway. Replaced the shocks with better aluminium ones, added a metal chassis brace where the rear body posts mount, limited the travel of the rear trailing arms(to stop it spitting out the rear shafts when driven hard), added headlights, added a high torque servo to reduce steering slop/torque steer and now running her on a superstock bz with 2s! Its now a whole heap of fun, pretty fast, and very reliable! If you fancy checking it out in action (and seeing many others) then check out our channel at Green Hawks RC. We even used it alongside a lunchbox to do an RC firework display in our last video! 😂 Hope your one is still going well fella, I bet those wing mirrors are now long gone! 😂 👍 👍 👍
Brilliant insight, thanks for sharing. It’s a wonderful car to have in the collection. I’ll certainly check out your videos. The mirrors are just about still there!
Sound's great ive ordered metal stearing arms etc for when i start my build and useing light grey chassis ss wanted the limited edition one but couldn't get so using that and having the original red and made up black edition replica body
@@SRG-HITMAN-11 Awesome man! The black edition is gorgeous.... I really wanted to get one, but couldn't justify buying a 4th monster beetle! 😂 😅 (yep, I think I have a problem!) The grey chassis really lifts the visual attraction of the car, makes it look far meaner, especially with the black body/livery. Black suits the monster beetle the best, my original 86 one is finished in gloss black, looks so cool with the gold wheels and yellow cva shocks! Those metal steering upgrades sound sweet..... I would highly recommend the Tamiya high torque servo saver upgrade as well. The standard steering has soooo much slop, which in turn creates a lot of torque steer /unintentional doughnuts..... the upgrade to the servo safer definitely helps! Good luck with the project going forward fella. 😊 👍 👍 👍
@@SRG-HITMAN-11 Wise move fella..... that should work a treat! Just stay away from the £5 Ebay special servos, l learnt the hard way, half of them don't even work straight out the pack! 😂 👍 👍 👍
