So far we reviewed the most cutting-edge CBRN respirators available and also a few others we consider a good budget option as most people won't invest hundreds of dollars into protective equipment they might never need and that's fine.
What's not fine is how a certain re-selling company in the US COUGH MiRa SaFeTy COUGH decided to market almost 40 year old gas mask through popular RU-vidrs and influencers.
This CBRN respirator is the prime example of how misleading yet effective marketing can shape our perception of things. 😉

I was about to comment when you introduced it as the cm7m I'm glad you didn't keep that up lol, I was very surprised to learn they outright encourage two filters at once youd think they would know basic respirator safety and not encourage something that seems outright dangerous. Lovely video very insightful. Do you know if or when you'll do another things that can get you killed?

Twin filters are used in some military context (as instance instructors in gas chamber, witht the US M40, or S10 ... among others), or hazmat CBRN emergency.

Obviously as the OM-90 is nothing to write home about. You can imagine how much money MIRA Safety funneled into its marketing to persuade people it's actually better than it actually is.

It's good to get an expert's opinion on this mask, thank you. I received one of these for free and it works well with my face, good to know that it's a little outdated but not a piece of junk. Is there an official spectacle kit for these from Gumarny Zubri? I haven't been able to find any information on one.

Yes, there is/was a spectacle kit that could be obtained as the Czech manual describes it but I have no idea where and how to find it.

Yeah, OM-2020. The thing is I made a testing of the thing for the Czech company and it was very bad which of course didn't stop MIRA from selling it even though they knew about the shortcomings. They however invested considerable effort into me not speaking about it. There have been some changes implemented as far as I know and we certainly could make a review about it but it's an essentially flawed product on many levels. If OM-90 is meh, OM-2020 is ten times worse.

@@Monz117 If you can't try out various respirators, it's hard to tell the difference between them. Especially people with no prior experience and that's what MIRA counts on. You can't go wrong with Avon C50, we made a pretty comprehensive review about that one. It's a night and day difference and many people who followed my advice are content with what they got. I'm not shilling a product, I'm just saying what's objectively better.

@cbrnacademy I watched the video on the c50, and am very excited to see the difference from the om90 I got from Mira a few years back. Was just going to get the "cm8m" until I found your channel. I can tell that you're not schilling for companies, and I greatly appreciate it, as I'm definitely one without experience in the arena, and I definitely was falling for the marketing. Seriously, thank you! You've got my subscription.

looks similar to the S10 and FM12, was this a common trend in design??

Apparently, yet the FM12 is much better (Although it's a legacy respirator). OM-90 should be also considered as such at this point.

@@NBC_noob No longer used or manufactured respirator. FM12 has been replaced by the C50 and it's no longer made if my information is correct.

Are you able to clear the gas mask? What I mean is in Bootcamp you are taught to put your mask on and then cover the exhaust with your hand and blow air out to get rid of the contaminated air inside the mask. Based on the looks of its design it looks like you are unable to clear the mask like many Soviet gas masks.

A very good point, so let me explain! When you watch our tutorial on how to use a gas mask, or any gas mask review of ours, I always tell people to exhale sharply after donning, which is a way of clearing. The reason is that many gas masks don't have the exhalation chamber located the way Avon masks do, so in many cases it's not as easy to cover it effectively. That's why I'm always doing clearing the way I do to show people a more universal method. It's not something I made up, it's a regular clearing procedure in many armies that use other than Avon respirators.
