The Martin Handcart Pioneers were pinned down in Sweetwater Wyoming by an early winter storm. They were miraculously rescued by Ephriam Hanks. A heavenly messenger called upon him to leave immediately and assist the stranded Saints. He rode into their camp with hundreds of pounds of buffalo meat. In the name of Jesus Christ he healed the sick, he raised the dead and administered to their needs. He performed surgeries and amputations with his hunting knife. His arrival saved many people from starvation and freezing, while they awaited the arrival of the rescue parties struggling through the deep Wyoming snow to find the Martin Handcart Company.
