Perhaps the Mirage F1 would have done better if the Fox 1’s were actually removed? Perhaps it’s a bug but when Cap was dogfighting you could see them on his wings… I’m curious to see if it would make enough of a difference

well atleast , in theory/raw performances the mirage f1 is way worse than mig21/viggen . f1 has wway less twr, low climb rate , high wing load

Surely it would've helped, but the F1 is still a poor performing plane. It's slow, it's radar and missiles suck, and it handles like a dump truck. The Mirage does have two things going for it. It's name is cool and it's a sexy looking plane. Neither of those help in combat. Lol

Compressor stalls are so fun. I am sure DCS can't reproduce the loud boom of one. I got to test one engine into a low pressure stall and people came running from the next building to see what we blew up. Got to see a grown man almost pass out after running up 3 flights of stairs before he remembered what the testing of the day was.

I tested out the AI Mirage F1 when it was released and I got absolutely clobbered by the 530's. Ace-level AI, 50km air start, and it would launch at around 10-12km. Too far for an R3R shot to try and force him defensive, so it was all notching and cranking. Dodging them in a MiG-21 was insanely difficult - waaaaay harder than the AIM-7, which the AI tends to launch much further back.

Seeing the Argentinian skin on the mig gave me an idea for a wargame. What if the Argentinians had soviet equipment in1982...mig-21s, mig-23s, and su-22s. BMPs, T-72s, soviet SAMs and AA from the era. Would it have made a difference?

It wouldn't have made any difference where their aircraft came from. It wasn't the quality of their equipment that caused their defeat. It was the failure to properly plan for war. Also, one of the Argentinian problems was British subs stopping Argentinian ships from bringing supplies to the islands, and the fact that large transport aircraft and fast jets couldn't operate from the Port Stanley airfield. So they had no way to transport heavy equipment to the islands.

The military junta had been fighting a clandestine war against its own people for decades and in the short term, this distraction worked, and Argentine nationalism helped prop up the government. However, just like Saddam, the ruling junta calculated its land grab would be against an enemy who lacked the will or ability to take back its territory.

How would the F-5 performed in this situation? I know its not designed for dogfighting, but I do feel it can turn pretty well. Ive seen some of your guys pull some pretty impressive maneuvers with them

The F5 is underpowered but very manouverable, especially low down. Easily able to beat the Mig 21 in a dogfight. No clue how it works with the F1 and Viggen.

Mig29 beats the mig28 easily , the Russians actually got a f5e , they tested it against mig23,mig21 , u can say that the f5e contributed a bit to the development of mig29 , it would simply outrate and perform wayy better in a 1 circle against the f5 . Su27 also beats j10 , mig19 would outrate the mig21 but mig21 can beat the mig19 in a 1 circle fight.

@@hemendraravi4787 The fight they only did one of lol well I feel that your literally wrong👌 The F-5 is entirely different and better in every way than F-1 Mirage it's not even a good comparison The F-5/MIG-28 is agile while The MIG-29 maybe more so once again I expect it to be a challenge but not a complete washout and believe it would be entertaining! mm lots of nose high, heavy load and drag. Mirage F1 is not a dogfighter design but it can still hold his ground pretty good. Corner speed are 295 with combat flaps and 450 clean. slightly nose down attitude and aoa between blue and green you can sustain turn between 450 and 510 all day long with pretty good rate for that generation. When almost there cash in the energy, free of insane aoa induced crazyness, and light it! f-5 ,mig 21, 23 su 22 mig 19 no problem.

Cap - corner speed is easy calc, its sqrt(G limit)xStall Speed. usually 6G so about 2.5x stall speed. Stall speed is easy to find - pull the tightest turn radius you can maintain in a flat turn, thats your stall speed :)

@@lucky_luke4785 I should have said, G is whatever your blackout limit is. I dont know where its set in DCS but use whatever its set to for SQRT(G). in a fighter the sustained limit should be the pilot, not the airframe.

Yeah, but Mirage 2000 is a sexy beast, the only one who looks better as single seat along F-16 and EF-2000 that are pretty both single and double seats, all the others I prefer them in double seats variants F-15, F-18, Su-27/J-16, Raphale, Mig-29, J-10 obviously F-14 or I don't like them at all. You guys certainly do NOT know how to fly combat. You decide to turn with the planes rather than use maneuvers to gain the advantage when you can't turn.
