We were kids back in the late 80s. A few clouds adorned the sunny sky and we only had eyes for our football. Then we heard the thunder, no bad weather thunderstorm that was for sure. We boys immediately started scanning the horizon with our eyes and were thrilled when the mirage jets flew over our heads, so close that we thought we could see the pilot's beard flapping in the wind! 😀 So loud that the girls covered their ears and the toddlers started crying. The football? I don't know, nobody had an eye for that anymore. Yes, it was like that in Switzerland back then. Good old days!
I remember the times when i was a kid. My heart started bumping when mirages appeared out of nowhere in low flight. I always tried to imagine how it would be to sit in one of these planes, diving throug the valley.🥰 epic video
Des As.. ( d’un ancien mécanicien de Mirage IIIE😉 )
Great video featuring one of the best looking fighters of all times. I’ll never forget the Axalp 2003 flight demonstration where 6 x Mirage IIIRS performed for the very last time. After their strafing runs all 6 aircraft approached the crowd in a delta formation and pulled up in the vertical using afterburner until they disappeared from our view in the crisp blue Swiss sky. Everybody had goosebumps because for almost everone this was the last time they would ever see this beautiful jet. I have goosebumps again while writing this…… great great memories!!!😅
Slt
Although the Mirage IIIS/RS showed its age, its beauty perfectly matched the Swiss landscape, the mountains, the valleys, the lakes. A much better visual match than the heavier Hornet.
Very beautiful Video! - In the Swiss Army, as an Infatryman, I together with my comrades in the sky, who supported our ground positions with Close air-ground-training weapons.....Woah, the noise!!! It is just extreme! Many thanks for this great Video footage! These "Boys" know, how to fly! They are part of our defense, I was part of it with my rifle......!
Pakistan is beautiful, in pictures. But it is off-limits for many people in EU, UK, US due to poor personal safety and declining diplomatic relations. Perhaps this can change for the better, but unlikely in our lifetimes. India is more hospitable and generally safer.
Quelle prestation!
Absolutely fantastic & beautiful !!! ... We miss for ever our lovely Mirage III S & RS ... in the Swiss Air Force ! But if you would like to pay 17'000.- swiss francs, you could flight during 45 minutes as civilian passager with a true fighter pilot of the SAF in a Mirage III DS at the Payerne Air Force Base, Switzerland. I promise to you, it will be a great experience !!!
It is with a heavy heart that a announce to you almost 3 months later that the IIIDS HB-RDF is now retired due to pressure and issues from the swiss government concerning serviceability and safety because of the plane's old age...
I find the Swiss air force interesting from the fact of the different types of aircraft they have used. MIrage III, F-5E, F-18. Also from how they operate from roads and store aircraft in caverns.
Pakistan Airforce is still using upgraded Mirage III and Mirage V for ground attacks and stand-off weapons. They were successful in hitting several Indian targets on 27th February 2019.
Salute from uk, all about the delta baby, straight as an arrow is how to roll.. and front canards give it them knife edge pull ups , this and the rafie and obviously typhie euro are my faves...even liked them when argies flew em, but i keep that quiet to my fellow countrymen....
@silvialucianunes My dear Sylvia, It's really amazing ! A magnificent flight over the mountains of the Alps in a really exiting fighter airplane. Thank you for share my friend! @TPSchop Thank you for this amazing video with a excellent music !!
"Snap Roll" - I think not. You might try one in a MIrage III but only once, it would kill you unless you were at high enough to recover from the resulting spin. What you meant was aileron roll ...
