I still remember the days when Mirai appeared at every anime convention in Malaysia. the very last year she appeared was in 2017. still hoping for an update on this project and her merchandise being produced.

It would have been cool. I went to Danny Choo's pages and looked up info on this concept. He had a whole universe planned around it from what I could tell. Sadly, he seemed to have put it all on the back, back, back burner in favor of creating what he calls Smart Dolls, launched in 2014. I guess that has been pretty successful for him, since the storepage is still up with recent releases.

According to yahoo One episode would cost 10 million to 20 million yen (about US$110,000 to US$220,000) to produce. In addition, the publishers have to pay the sponsoring fee for the timeslot, which can cost about 50 million yen (US$560,000) for late-night timeslots on five to seven stations for two cours (six months). However, sponsoring timeslots on UHF stations cost about half of that. The total budget for an anime series on the level of Fullmetal Alchemist (which aired on key stations for one year at 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays) was at least 500 million yen (US$5.6 million). So the project is probably on hold since it doesn't have enough funding.

There is such a riot of eye candy in this, it's unbelievable! And it's only the opening for Culture Japan! I've watched it close to a dozen times already, and still can't catch everything in it! I am SO panting for Mirai Millennium to come out!!!!!

I don't know why you all think that Mirai look like Asuna. First of all, just because the hair and eye colors are the same doesn't mean it look like Asuna. Their eye and face figure are SO different. The hair style are so different too 2nd of all, I bet A LOT OF YOU never read or heard of the SAO novel until it came out as an anime. 3rd of all: My opinion is that they DONT even look like each other. Original work never look like any other character.

If you're going off the anime. SAO was written and published on the web in 2002. I don't know if the artwork accompanied it back then though.

JC Staff did some excellent animation for this - I don't think I've seen them render with such good detail. Looks like it from BONES - and that is a good thing. Look forward to 2nd season of Culture Japan.

Chill out guys asuna and mirai looks cute both of them got swords. And the anime SAO was created in the year 2012 and it was written in 2002. Mirai was written and created in 2007. But u don't need to care Because U probaply should just love both :) and go for ur unreal harem ^^

I have officially fallen in love with Culture Japan and I would likee to make friends with Danny and the wonderful crew there and I would also like to visit Japan in the near future. I am wondering if there is going to be a Mirai exoskeleton like in the anime. Mirai´s sword is splendid and the anime is one of the few animes I have seen which have the Brutality of Fact - similarly as Wolf´s Rain and Moon Phase and such anime. Culture Japan has also become my favourite online show and I will be introducing Mirai to my fellow native Icelanders in less than 7 days. And with watercolor anime destined to replace current mainstream news it is no surprise that Japanese animation remains among the best you can find.

Let me sum up my other comments. The works you mentioned all had credibly good source material (as in I can look it up, read it, etc.). Madoka, being the exception, had a really good production team. Those are all things that I can judge those shows by. I can't do any research on this even if I wanted to, because there isn't anything, so I can only judge by the OP, and I already mentioned the significance of that. A cover without a book is just a cover (and this isn't even a cover, really.)

Fun fact: SAO Volume 1 Aincrad was first conceived in 2002 for some contest, but by the time it was finished it was over the world limit. Reki Kawahara instead put it up online for a few years, until several years later when he officially publishes it. So yeah, unless Mirai came along before 2002...... Note: NO, I am NOT bashing Mirai or anything. I'm just stating facts! Trust me, I like series such as .hack way more than SAO, so ain't a crazy SAO fanboy!
