Miranda Middleton is a director, writer, and choreographer with a Master of Fine Arts (Directing) from the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA). She aims to create theatrical events which spark joy, connection, and a sense of shared humanity.
In 2024, Miranda is a recipient of the Sandra Bates Director's Award at the Ensemble Theatre, and will direct the Australian premiere of the West End hit musical THE GRINNING MAN for Salty Theatre/VASS Productions.
Miranda's most recent directing credits include PEAR-SHAPED (Rogue Projects/Theatre Works), LEMON TREE ON DREG STREET (Dirty Pennies Theatre Project/Theatre Works), SENSER (Theatre Works), NOT TODAY (Rogue Projects/Theatre Works/Seymour Centre), PASH (Edinburgh Fringe Festival/Melbourne International Comedy Festival), SOWING SEEDS (Gasworks Arts Park), and VOLDEMORT AND THE TEENAGE HOGWARTS MUSICAL PARODY (Salty Theatre/Adelaide Fringe Festival/Theatre Works).
Miranda was the Assistant Director on the new musicals COME RAIN OR COME SHINE at Melbourne Theatre Company and THE LOVERS at Bell Shakespeare, and the dramaturg on A LETTER FOR MOLLY (Ensemble Theatre).
In 2023, Miranda was the Resident Writer at Theatre Works, and a member of their She Writes Collective. Her writing credits include PEAR-SHAPED (Rogue Projects/Theatre Works) and a theatrical adaptation of the screenplay AMÉLIE (Studio Theatre, NIDA).
Miranda has two new musicals in development: PAPER STARS and SILVER TONGUE. She is currently undergoing a professional mentorship with leading Australian director/choreographer Amy Campbell.
