This was an entertaining match. Great video quality! So close. Murray really did well to carry Britain in the third set tiebreak. If Laura didn't double fault twice maybe things would have been different. Azarenka is a great returner and Laura has great volleys but got a little tight in the end. Very evenly matched. Would not want to be returning against Mirnyi. I wish more top players men and women played mixed doubles!
The double faults were unfortunate, but at the same time, Laura did not want to hit soft second serves only for them to be crunched by Mirnyi and Azarenka, so it did make sense. The part were they lost the match was at 7-6 when Murray hit his return in to the net when returning Azarenka's second serve. That should have been a free point and then they would have been neck and neck.
Andy is one of the best returners in the men's game. But in the doubles they serve from a different position and when returning, you want to hit it away from the other player, so it's not the same as a singles game. Also, notice how often Azarenka was able to return Murray's serve, not very often...
Max Mirnyi was a known top player in men's doubles(#1 and/or near the top for a long time), Victoria Azarenka was #1 women's player at this time, Laura Robson played very well in such company, even forced Max Mirnyi into a return error at pressure packed 7-9 down in the tiebreaker decider...the crowd clearly helped Murray and Robson play better with their encouragement, but IMAO Azarenka managed to find her focus and play well after being blown away the first set, that helped Mirnyi settle down and not "overplay"...very good match, it was too bad Robson double faulted in the tiebreaker under pressure, that was a momentum breaker and probably the difference, otherwise the tiebreaker might well have turned into an extra points classic, IMO...
Let's not try to find excuses. Murray is the no. 2 in atp! he can't be distracted by a grunt (even Nadal grunts like hell)!. He clearly had problem returning Vika's serve. You know why? cause the Belarus team played better. End of the story.
It doesn't matter. The thing that matters is that he won after 3 easy sets. Fast sets without rallies. More like a good warm up for Andy. There are not excuses about his weakness in the returns. He had a bad match or he is an average-bad double tennis player.
This was a good match; I just don't like the fact that the crowd was mostly only cheering for Murray and Robson. Obviously I understand that their playing on home soil, but at the end, it was almost silence, compared to when Azarenka made and unforced error. Can't say that I hate GBR though.

It's hard to say that Belarus were better. They won by two points. They won, yes. But it could of easily been 10-8 to Andy and Laura. Why are people saying they were MILES ahead when they clearly weren't?
She is grunting on returns of serves!! are you kidding me?? They need to stop allowing these clear attempts at distraction. Its such a detraction from the women's game. I keep expecting mirny to tell his teammate to shut up

Sometimes he just makes me cringe; he really should stick to rugby. maybe he's gotten better in the last few years, but last time I heard him, he just knew so, so little about how tennis players play, and instead just remarked where different balls landed, basically.
