A random segment of 99-cent store items from The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from September 6, 2006. Not sure why I have this, but it's not on RU-vid, so here it is. Apologies for the low quality.
And the upper left corner states: "🇺🇸 USA Distributed with Pride" (not made in, just distributed). If you look up the company, it's listed on LinkedIn as an "entertainment" company in suburban Bensenville.
The 99-cent segment, and Headlines, were the best. Jay was so talented and I wish he'd return. Late night TV is garbage today (2023) and not worth watching. Jay and Kevin were the best. (and Johnny and Ed). Those were the days of real talent, now long gone.
Wish Jimmy Fallon would at least try what Jay Leno had done. No chance of that. I sure miss those days when you could just hear The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. With Kevin Eubanks and the Tonight Show band. On FM radio. Back in the day when before there were smartphones. DVD's had just been coming in. Both the ones called video - the ones anyone could hear and see them on any portable DVD player. Then the music CD's. The MiniDisc by Sony, hadn't been exactly a success. So, I'd listen to it when I had nothing else to listen in on to. No TV. No radio, radio. Not the emergency radio walkie-talkie kind. It'd be one of the best things I've ever had. Before cell phones had decent internet and before there were such things as Bluetooth. And Wi-fi. Before there were cassettes, that you could listen to,there were something called eight-track tapes/ *really* old school kind of entertainment. I had never watched Ed Sullivan shows before. That had been WAY before my time. Letterman, Conan O'Brien, and the Craig Ferguson show hadn't been too far off, either. Man,since I had been financially low income, those were the days.
In Mexico tuna is a fruit from a certain cactus, so it may be a cactus fruit drink. Wiener in the German language refers to things or food from Vienna. I know they don't normally speak German in Finland. Maybe the nougat is Viennese style candy.
@@watersipper1116 The name "Wiener Nougat" is Swedish, and yes, it means Vienna style nougat. Fazer is a Finnish chocolate company, but the Swedish language has a fairly strong position in Finland for historical reasons.
I use ear pics actually. No compass. Since I was about 20. Had a bad ear infection from q-tips. Threw off my equilibrium couldn't walk in a straight line. Super weird. Wet naps and ear picks.
The 99 cent store must have been an earlier version of the Dollar Tree store of today.Everything there is $1.25, but used to be $1.00. 2006 seems like ages ago now. I was in my early 40s, then.
99-cent stores had somewhat better quality items than the modern Dollar Trees for the most, but you'd occasionally find weird bootleg stuff like some of the things in this video. Dollar Tree is mostly single-source so these items aren't as common anymore.
Hey now, I recorded this in 2006 and have no upscaling capability. Besides, in 2006 everything looked like it was filmed with a potato and we liked it! 😉
I begging you networks, please have another late show like the Jay Leno Tonight Show. All the current ones are the same: political jokes about Republicans and kissing the ass of meaningless celebrities.
Back when the 99 cent store actually was a 99 cent store. You can't even get a little bag of hot cheetos for under a buck now. The Tuna drink packaging was in Spanish, so that actually refers to the Tuna fruit that grows off of cacti. It would essentially be one of the more rare Aquas Frescas that non-Hispanic people would not order.
MAKING FUN OF POOR PEOPLE. WHAT COULD BEE MORE AMERICAN. HOW MANY HOMELESS PEOPLE DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE ONE BILLIONAIR. GOSH I LOVE IT. THIS IS A REAL HOOT. JAY IS SOOO FUNNY.
