The red one looks exactly like the old original American Pitbull Terrier. That's amazing. It's hard to see a dog like that outside of very old photos and artwork. So many breeds in the modern day have had the original traits for their specific work bred out of them for a specific look. It's nice to see that some people appreciate the original breeds and how perfectly they where bred/evolved for their tasks

I heard on a pod cast from a trainer who deals with protection dogs for police military and I was surprised to hear him give a shout out to bandogs.he indicated that Protection dogs back in the days were what you have created. And not the German shepherd's, Dutch shepherd's or Belgian Mali. He said that he found Ban dogs to be able to tolerate more pressure, and are after the fight it self and not the cause like most shepherd's, Mali, etc. He said some are relentless and show no hesitation in their apprehension. I had no idea how few little German dogs are actually solid from start to finish. He said even top lines have produced weaker dogs and they were still handed down from department to department even though they showed hesitation and a willingness to back down from a fight should the bad guy decided to put up a fight.

When u breed them right, that's what you'll get lol. I had Colby dog's when I first started out with APBT and when I did tight breedings (inbreeding) the pups would ALLL come out looking like Primo , Pincher and other well known OOOOLD Colby dog's . Genetics are weird with dogs! Even the other APBT lines I have, when I make a breeding, often I'll get dogs that look like clones of dog's that have been dead since before I was born.. I hafta go back and look through all my gramps pics and pedigrees to see where the traits come from.

Facts. This is why I love you, Lee. Keep it 100%. Another tidbit you didn't get to - dogge is the German translation of the Old English docga or dogga (also synonymous with dogo and dogue). Dogge was originally a job description, not a breed or type.

What you said about people getting bit is absolutely correct. I live off grid in AZ,I'm originally from Louisiana, love dogs. Always had dogs. Most of my dogs lay around in the shade. They've bitten anyone but their pretty intimidating, that's fine. I had a stranger to house asked if my dogs bites, honest answer, I don't know, he ain't never bit me. But if your curiosity is getting the best of you, walk over there and slap the shit out him, I'm kinda curious too. If course he didn't and that was good enough for me. Love the dogs, love the channel, as a side note where I live, the dogs have to be able to defend themselves. As for me their pretty protective. If the property. Have a great day.

Really good distinction there about "band" meaning "bound" and how actually bandogs were never "guarding the king's forest" but attack dogs who hunted man like prey with a handler. Hunting dogs, of the "lead in catch dog" variety. So named for the way they are restrained on lead during the early stages of a hunt until the handler "point and shoots" them towards the target by slipping them off-lead. That's a "bandog" by function. And actually, many pure pitbulls work as bandogs today (mostly on hogs, some on cattle, even a dog fight is kind of a "point and shoot" attack dog scenario, and pitbulls view dogs as prey, they don't fight for rank). Sometimes the quarry was boar, sometimes bear, and sometimes man. But always bandogs were actually hunting dogs, and not "guard" dogs. The whole bull/mastiff family need to be understood as hunting dogs first and foremost. If you do that I think it helps to see ruined mastiff breeds for exactly how ruined they are, because it's obvious they aren't hunting anything. "Guarding" is so vague, it's like "maybe that big clumsy tired slow oaf could guard, I guess", but no, that's nonsense. Can it hunt? If not it's a lemon. So most mastiff breeds are in even worse shape than many people realise, they're just as ruined as the english bulldog. Every bit. Look at the ancestors of the english mastiff from the 1700s and they are tall athletic striking boarhounds. They have fallen that far. Your bandogs look like they can hunt, in at least a "lead in catch dog" capacity, so they are legitimate. Blooding them to target man as quarry is then your prerogative.

Any dog can be taught to be aggressive to man or animal. That said the American pit bull terrier is highly intelligent and should be considered a working breed, they clean house in canine competition and even hold herding titles. As someone with thousands of hours of research, there are paintings of bull baiting dogs from 1600 and before, that look exactly like the dog in my avatar and in the 40 pound range. My thinking is the breed existed long before 150 years ago, and were modified (some more, and some none) by adding larger breeds, and by adding terrier. It seems that today the majority of the dogs have gone back to the original 45 pound dog. Mayday was an exception, with larger breed DNA, and some of the Colby dogs were an exception, with terrier dogs bred in (look at the photos from 1900) The “working” pit bull, whether a sheriff deputy, herder, or catch dog can have a wide range of looks, where the ADBA show dogs will have a specific look. Eli is a 45 pound working dog (now retired and loves the grand kids) The only way he would bite a human is if it threatens a loved one, especially the kids, and despite being only 45 pounds, is a frightening force to anyone that rings the doorbell. But do I consider him a guard dog, not really. If there’s a coyote in the back yard, he however becomes a catch machine. Human aggression and animal aggression are not related. Period

@@elithepitbulldog2209 if you follow these dogs enough u will know the original pittbull became a staffordshire because of the pease law in england around 1820s, these pitbulls couldnt do the work they where made for so old timers who appreciated the sport had to adapt to there enviroments. Prior to this the dogs where bred bigger. If you read arthur healds book make ready from the 1930s, he tells u about how the staffords used to be bigger an longer legged, an what they where bred for. Just like the fox terrier until the show ruined the work ethic an standard so any hunter that wanted a good dog would go see mr jack russel. Who kept the dog true to its nature. So if u wanted a fox hunter u would buy a jack russel. Once upon a time people named the dogs of the work they did origin they came from or bloodline they where. But i have spent many hours research myself an us humans have shaped these dogs since the roman days an before, dogs of conquest, u can see old statues in roman times that look like the pitbull. But like all a specific phenotype doesnt always win. The old brain vs braun, barnstormer vs smarts, just like big vs small smaller dont use as much energy an wind, but bigger is more power n strength, the double edge sword, but a dog just wants to please its owner an if the owners like an train it to do a certain task. Sfter generstions its just gonna get better at the task.. look at becerrillo an the conquistidors, christopher columbus said 1 dog is worth more than 10 soldiers.

I have a Wrecker x Widow female of yours. That is a very tight breeding based mostly on a small pitbull, she is a solid 120#, which amazes me but kind of speaks to the idea that genetic potential for larger dogs is still present in the pitbull and you will never get the consistent gameness from any other type of dog.

A shy mean dog can be deeply game. Has had no bearing on performance in my experience. in fact I have one that comes to mind. Wouldn’t come out his house and growled the whole time anyone was in the yard, even at feed time. Look at him pretty hard. Ended up sending him back to the breeder. Thibodeaux/Mims cross. Had another Jeep/Rascal cross, Long’s Margie to Loner. Wouldn’t let anyone touch him but me. Never even tried to lick me. A deeply game dog. Talented too.

Use them for meat, fur, or commit to a 14 year pet with $$ vet bills. I also couldn’t find any ethical poodle breeders or rescues that had stable animals. My 45lb sproodle female who wouldn’t hurt anyone has the best ears and deepest bark I’ve ever heard. This is including pitties and honest to goodness mastiffs. She’s tall, long, and very slim (we have a slow feeder for her)- but I think people would consider twice before breaking in.

The Bulldog is a small mastiff. They come from the Alaunt. A dog of the Alani tribe - a Persian group that now are associated with the Ossetians. There were three variants of the Alaunt: The Alaunt Veantre (large coursing mastiff like a Great Dane), the Alaunt Gentile ( more like an Argentinean Dogo) and the Alaunt de Boucherie (the Butcher's dog). In the 1400s the English Bulldog was called... "Bandogges" and... "Butcher's Alaunt". Bulldogs were crossed with Terriers in the 1700s. It has been documented that it was to improve the hardness and gameness of the Terrier. DOUBTLESS, some of these hybrids would be tested as the Bulldogs was tested. And they were. So we have the "Victorian Era Baiting Bulldog", Bulldog-Terrier hybrids (of two types: Improved Terrier and Hybrid Combative Dog). Eventually, the Bulldog and the Bulldog-Terrier blend that WORKED WELL would be recombined or blended together. And that's what I believe we have today.

Bull terriers are bulldogs with just a touch of terrier sprinkled on for finishing instinct/ability, as the bulldog proper is designed to subjugate and control, the terrier is designed to kill. The history of fighting dogs runs parallel to the history of human fighting, in that when they first started experimenting with "mixed martial arts" they were actually surprised that the wrestlers were dominating all the karate and kung fu and boxing guys, control of the fight is everything, and wrestlers have that down. But they'd just lay on top of people and weren't good at finishing. Over the following years and decades they found building on that wrestling foundation and sprinkling on some finishing ability was the best way to go, and still today most elite UFC fighters have that wrestling base with added finishing ability whether in the form of striking (kicboxing etc) or submissions (jiu jitsu). In the dog world the bulldog was the wrestler, it grapples with bulls and boars and controls and subdues them, and in a fight it will also easily control other dogs, even if they are better at killing and causing damage. It won't give them a chance to showcase that ability because it just controls and subjugates them. However if you take that wrestling/controlling foundation of bulldog, and sprinkle in killing nouse via terrier, you improve the fighter by gifting him the ability to do something with his control and actually cause damage and finish his opponent. That's what bull terriers are. Bulldogs adjusted slightly for the dog fight with some "killer" edge, but still very much retaining the "wrestling" aspect as their foundation and still perfectly adept at controlling and subjugating unruly beasts.

I watched a purebred chocolate English labs. Massive dog. Could have killed me if it wanted to. I was extremely careful with the dog. Started out reading to it with my side towards it and threw out some treats. I hadn’t owned dogs at the time and I no experience wirh aggressive dogs. I had worked with other dogs so knew not to stare it down and bratty kids who would calm down during their favorite story. After a few days we could remove the gate and I was the *only* person who could watch the dog. There were two locked doors between us whenever I couldn’t carefully watch it or had access to a cast iron skillet. This was due to bad associations with an electronic fence. Again, this was a purebred Labrador. The larger the dog the more damage it can do. Add genetics and breeding and you get the danger factor.

Impossible to say. Bandog isn't a breed. It is a job. If whoever you got the dog from told you it was a breed, they misinformed you. It really depends on the dog.

excellent video. though, the apbt was used for other jobs, the sole, original purpose was to engage in mortal combat with other dogs. if this society were to acknowledge and accept that, I guarantee it would be less accidents. game dogs is a term that is used far too loosely. game bred should be the term used instead.

It sounds like you have a dog you don't know how to handle (no offense intended, but I have to be direct for safety of your family and pet). As a result, I would recommend you contact a professional trainer in your area for a professional assessment OR return the puppy to the breeder.

if there is overpopulation in this world, the forests would be cleared. There will be a potential human animal conflict and soon all the prey would probably disappear due to over hunting.. Overpopulation will reduce wilderness space for food production or agriculture. When there are prey animals who have to live in wilderness, very few animals may be able to adapt to the new landscape.

Can I ask why your bandogge has a 3rd of its tail? Why not crop it as a stumb or just leave the full tail? A American pitbull shouldn't be over 70lbs and should have a Bruce Lee type body. Way tomany people class non pitbulls as pitbulls. Also I read Rottweilers were originally used to defend family treasures when on transport. Interesting each breeds back ground.

I speculate enough time and breed mixing has passed to where your dogs can be used for certain police departments imo. I may be wrong. What your doing here is fascinating because we don't have anyone in America on your level of facility, time , breeding and selective breeding to legitimize a breed.

Hello, Lee. I agree that the working dog will increase. It is one of the reasons I did not get another Jack Russell... (awesome breed to me I love Jacks) but decided to go with two APBTs. At least that is what some people say they are. They are PR UKC... but they are blue. I say "but" because as you probably are aware many people do not consider my dogs an APBTs. Perhaps, you can shed some light on why? I believe my quest is going to be focusing on the now extinct Blue Paul Terrier ( or blue Poll), and how it is related to the lines of APBTs in the United States. I'd love to hear your feedback on this and/or do a video on the subject if you believe it has any merit. I also noticed you are licensed in MS. My dogs were born in MS. Thank you.
@APBT-Bandog
@APBT-Bandog 3 года назад
The blue paul terrier is not likely to be the justification for the blue in a UKC “pit bull.” Odds are, those dogs simply have outcrosses in there that are not reported even though that may not be what you wish to hear. I say this because if the source was Blue Paul, then blue would most likely have been seen in the ADBA dogs as well from the 1930’s to today...& they were not seen in the 30’s-80’s.

No. Rottweilers were used to drive cattle and to pull draft (draft dogs). Catch dogs would grab the cattle or wild game by the ears or nose.

From what I've read the Doberman is the only breed that was created specifically to protect an individual as opposed to property, livestock, etc. Would you ever consider using any in your breeding program? I know they're not catch dogs but it seems like from the right bloodlines they would be natural protectors.
@APBT-Bandog
@APBT-Bandog 4 года назад
The Dobermann is very fragile breed, has a very weak grip (bite), and tends to be very insecure. I would never use them. They are very intelligent though.

Madman1 Rug I have been working protection dogs for 20 years and I have worked them myself with a compression sleeve and one can barely feel them on the grip. No comparison to a GSD or an APBT. “Breed based” “bite force” stats mean nothing since they vary on why the dog is biting, where the bite measuring decide is in the dog’s mouth, and the individual doing the bite.

I started watching this expecting to dislike the vid, purely because of the tethered dogs. After watching I would love to sit down with you and some cold beers to talk dogs. The last bit about dogs being kept for a variety of tasks in the future has never gone away around here. The further into the bush people live the better their dogs get. They're all mutts but heavily influenced by Pit Bulls, Staffies and Mastiffs. No one cares what they look like, it's how well they do all their jobs and how easy they are to train. Throw Greyhound into the mix for more hunting focused folks.
@APBT-Bandog
@APBT-Bandog 2 года назад
Yea, I have had some see the dogs tied out and mistakenly assume the dogs were kept tethered, which certainly is not the case. They are only tethered when we are doing something that requires an extra hand. I would never keep a dog on a short line for very long.

lol. With a name like "critical mass," I would expect you do know if you drop something in water, objects still go towards each other, with the items that have the most density pushing the less dense things out of their way...but the less dense things don't fly off in space. They too are still pulled in, but are just pushed out of the way by the objects with greater density.
