There are certain individuals that are just not wired with that drive and that is awesome but, when another animal pushes your dog beyond her threshold and she doesn't have a chance to flight, she will fight. And once that happens it is hard to disengage them from that adrenaline packed moment. And unfortunately you're amazing dog at that point would be extremely sensitive and unpredictable with other dogs because they can't trust. Being an irresponsible owner and allowing dogs to traumatize other dogs is never okay and sadly it's the norm with the "fur baby owners" like in this video, who can't admit they have a real pitbull! (Even just a mix) but really what they mean is they have yet to see their Pitbull show "pitbull" related behaviors. It is one-hundred-percent not the breed it is always mostly the owner and how they're raised but that is not to say that there are not genetics at play and not traits that are still there from the past mistakes that we made when we thought that it would be entertaining to make them want to fight in such an extreme manner that they ignore anything else including pain. These dogs actually enjoyed the fight they enjoyed the adrenaline rush and there was nothing that competed with that and in order to get your dog to choose to not act that way you have to have something that competes. You have to know what you're looking at to be able to set your dog up for success in every situation and if you don't know or are not willing to accept what you know, then you are walking a very fine line of setting your dog up for failure.

That poor pitbull on the leash. He was obviously anxious from all the other dogs surrounding him and pressuring him. If your dog is in a fight, you drop the leash, at that point, there's nothing else you can do other than to let your dog's natural instincts take over. You can't protect your dog from a fight by keeping him restrained while another dog is biting and attacking him, it does him no good.
@KimChi-iy7jd

The white Pitbull was "poor" in a sense that the handler didn`t trust him to be with the other dogs equally off leash. I agree it is almost an invitation for trouble, because the other dogs know he can`t move as freely as them. Luckily most of the other dogs (besides the brindle pitty a little bit) were "well" behaved and didn`t use this situation to get at him. I agree the owner or handler did a risky thing there. My terrier mix which I got from the shelter (I believe there was a pit in her line as well) got bitten by a free running labrador directly and without hesitation in the nose. That was extremly unsozial dog behavior and a real bad experience for both of us, because my dog was on the leash, we were on our way home on the street and my dog was quietly walking beside me, the labrador came around the corner in full speed. The owner was playing catch the ball with him apparently. Of course I let go of the leash and my dog had the other dog on the neck. I separated them and was jelled at by the owner of said free running labrador. When this guy threatened to whack me and tried to kick my dog (almost successfully) I just called the police and they took care of the situation. They believed me, they saw that my dog had a leash and the other dog not only had no leash but also no collar - so everything was fine in the end, besides our visit to the vet of course.

I've told my daughter just that. If our male is attacked, to let him hold his own by dropping the leash. She can't sperate a fight on her own. She knows to drop the leash, and to call the police or for help (us) while it's happening. At the park, he's put on leash if we see him becoming annoying or trying to dominate another dog. He's so hyper, he can create a fight quick

@RiceKurry
@RiceKurry 4 года назад
Yeah it can cause issues fast. I personally only like dog parks with at most 4 dogs in the park. And dogs that are generally all behaved or owners that are willingly to let other dogs correct them. I.e. My pit-rottie mix loves to play ball but isn’t too fond of other dogs while our lab-hound mutt other dogs. In order to both get them their exercises and stimulation we have a local dog friendly park. We take them both and the people in our community know Sunny (pit-lab) doesn’t like rude pushy dogs. She won’t go after a dog and we have full control over her at all times. When she is annoyed she comes to us for help before ever growling or barking, but if the other dog continues to jump, nip, bark, mount, ect. She will pin them and correct them. We always try to remove her before then, but most owners with pushy dogs have either had their dog corrected by her and they no longer bother, or they’ve trained their dogs to have an “off” command. Dogs will teach other dogs what is acceptable. So when pushy dogs go after Sunny, our hound and all the other dogs will go after and correct the pushy dog. It’s such an interesting dynamic when dogs are allowed to use their own language. Hope this wasn’t too long of a read.

@@aspen7993 it's all good 👍. I agree that the American Pit bull terrier is a powerful dog that can cause alot of damage. Even though they are not a very large breed of dog they have the potential. To cause more damage than some larger breeds. Not because they are meaner than other breeds but because they have the strength of a larger dog pared with the Thing that. Separates them from other breeds which is their drive. American pit bull terriers have a higher level of drive than most breeds. So everything that they do They do with high intensity. They will pull on a dirt bike tire hanging from a rope with out being encouraged. While other breeds need encouragement or they will get bored and quit. American pit bull terriers will run themselves on a slat mill. While other breeds stop once they get tired or when they realize they aren't going anywhere. When pitbulls are faced with a challenge they become more intense when other types of dogs are challenged they'll quit even though they had more to give. This intense drive has been bred into the American pit bull terrier for a long time. There has been dog fights documented that went on for over 2 hours. It used to be legal for people to test their dogs on hogs people would time how long it would take for the dog to pin down the hog or hold it in one place This could take up to a hour at times. When these events were legal it was like going to the fair whole family's would attend there would be food and music dogs were sold and hogs would be auctiond. Now days the American pit bull terrier is still commonly used for hunting hogs. All of this is part of the breeds history and plays a part in the development of the APBT a amazing breed with crazy drive that gives them the ability to do amazing things. Or horrific and horrible things like killing people's pets and mauling innocent people. You are right they can cause a lot of damage and they do need a owner that is responsible and educated about the breed. Who has the means to keep them from harming any people or pets but still being able to meet their needs by giving them the physical and mental stimulation. That's required by this high energy working breed. The American pit bull terrier is my favorite breed and they truly are misunderstood by so many people. I was just sharing information about them with you. it wasn't meant to be in a negative way or in a corrective manner. Because I do agree with what you said. @Kawaii Lio Pitbulls are dangerous in the sense that, once they get into a fight, they tend not to give it up. A fight that involves a pitbull can turn deadly very easily if the owner has no control. Pits are one of the most efficient and powerful fighters among dogs, meaning that avoiding dog fights with them is essential. Outside of fighting, a well-trained pit won't be a problem.

I'm all for your objecting to owners that don't try harder to control their dogs especially if it really looks like the owner thinks there is nothing wrong or nothing to do about their dog's behavior. In the dog park I like to start pretending and acting as though the owner does know there is a problem but just has some difficulty in handling their dog: so I get in the problem dog's way and thwart some of the bad behavior planning to quit only if the problem dog threatens me (that's never happened, nor has the dog's owner ever threatened me). Have some of you decided not to get involved as I do because of other owners getting hostile about your interference when you tried? Or do you just not want to get involved because you feel it should not be your problem?

That’s something that outside people need to understand though. Yes, as a pür I’ll owner it is your responsibility to erase the stigma of pit bulls, but it’s also others’ responsibility to stop perpetuating the stereotype that all pit bulls possess bad behavior that cannot be corrected. It’s all about the owner and the training. People need to stop clumping all pitbulls and their owners into one group, just like the stigma of Rottweilers.
@shortney1708
@shortney1708 4 года назад
But dogs bred for gameness will always have to be handled different from one another depending on their individual personality and instinct. You need to know around age 2 - if they are aggressive or not. You won't know that sometimes before it's too late. A trainer specializing in aggression and code-red dog behavior can help determine that without a fight having to happen. Otherwise, be careful and never underestimate your pitbull. If he is aggressive and wants to fight - it's simply instinct, bred by humans, to do so. No reason to be angry at the dog or dislike him. Don't anthropomorphize dogs. Continue to love him but understand you must work with a special trainer and have an open mind that the risk outweighs wanting a dog friendly animal. If she's too much of a risk - just keep her away from other dogs. Period. My pitbull is a people ONLY animal. He's the absolute love of my life. But an enormous responsibility. We owe it to the breed to not discard aggressive pitbulls, we owe it to them to accept them and give them full lives. Even if it means without other dogs near.
@shortney1708
@shortney1708 4 года назад
I say age 2 because a pitbull can be very friendly and loving to other dogs and pits when they're under 2. Age 2 is when they start to grow into their aggression. Like a puberty. Knowing what I know now, I would never assume a pitbull is not aggressive until I've worked with a trainer until the age of 3 or more. It's not something you want to happen. If you've never seen a pitbull fight, I suggest you watch one. It'll change your life.

I don't think you can necessarily label all owners who walk dogs on lead as insecure pet owners. It sounds like you're simply talking from your own experience. I have a wolf dog who is extremely well behaved and easy to handle. Him as well as my other 2 dogs are walked hooked to my belt loop; he could easily rip away and take off if he wanted to. But despite that he walks beside me on a loose lead even when other dogs on leads passing us are barking, lunging, etc. My toddler is usually biking ahead of us. He's amazing around my chickens (I think we have over 30 hens now so it's impossible to walk him through the coop or run without being very close to a hen and he follows me no issues with them flapping all over), dairy goats, and horses. He's off lead at our house 24/7 and I love walking all 3 of them alongside me when we go to town because I find that enjoyable. It keeps me moving, not just sitting down watching them from a distance, like every other day! I feel like between all our animals the dogs get the least of my time lately with kidding season, so for me, it's just to enjoy my dogs. Maverick doesn't mind the goat kids climbing on him and often licks them like a mama dog would. Almost everyday we have antelope come through our property and I hate when they get close to the chicken coop (they eat most of the chicken feed that is out! GRR) So I let Maverick chase them away. He can be at a dead run chasing them and if I call he immediately turns and comes right to me. During the winter he LOVES being outside, but me, not so much (gets to -40) so he's trained to run on the treadmill in the house. I'm also training him for dog skijoring in the winter!! Dogs on lead reacting or misbehaving probably have owner issues ;)

All dogs (especially terriers) when they really get into it want to fight to the end, it's just that pits are more capable of doing damage than many other breeds. I personally like to adopt shelter pits and think breeding should be banned until all shelters are empty. My last pit loved all animals unless they tried domination but he got along with my cats & accepted that they ran the place. My current pit is hyper-reactive & I don't let her off leash except with dogs I know she gets along with. She gets along with 2 of 4 cats. She's actually better with small dogs as she's not immediately afraid of them. Larger dogs take time. (Based on very scarred and torn ears I think she may have been a bait dog).

i would 100% support you on banning breeding if there wasn’t some reasons for it. i had to buy from a breeder cause we needed a puppy to train for service work, since training a full adult dog won’t get as far with it. we also got him at a young age because my brother is terrified of bigger dogs and if he grew up with him, he’d be better with the dog. my mom also was against having a standard black and tan shepherd because two of them mauled her poodle when she was younger (don’t blame her, tbh i wouldn’t trust the breed after it either) so instead she was able to negotiate with a white gsd and we got that. once i’ve moved out i’ll definitely adopt, though. i have always wanted to and there are many dogs in need of homes in shelters. though, buying a puppy is okay if there are reasons.

Your Mom Yep, generally Pit Bulls are well behaved dogs and rarely start trouble. My Bull terrier is the same but he has been attacked so many times in public parks that I gave the park up. Even though he never started the trouble I would muzzle him for the confidence of other dog owners but after he then got attacked again whilst muzzled I never muzzled him again. Incidentally I took the muzzle off during the attack much too the owners reluctance but it needed to be done for my dog to protect himself of which he did and very effectively. The attacking dog lost but thankfully with no serious injury. The problem was with the ignorance of the bystanders that ensued after the dogs were untangled they went as far as to beat me and my dogs with their fists presuming my dog was the attacker. They also lost.

Over here in the UK a lot of people walk around with their Staffordshire’s off the lead/leash in the street. You never know what a dog’s background is, or what training and socialization the owner is working on. You can inform people without shaming them

I listened up until 13:04 & a good pit bull owner shouldnt take their dogs to dog parks- NOT because they “over-react” but because if something does pop off- they usually get the blame.

They usually get the blame because they are always in the midlle of the drama. :) Pitbulls are really really intense breed to have and require insane skill and a lot of training and time input into them. And 95% of owners are not capable of that. Some breeds should be given only to people that have some sort of licence to prove that they can handle this type of dogs. The problem is not in the dogs is in the people and thats why we should regulate who gets to have this dogs that in the wrong hands are a loaded gun without safetty.

I have a very dominant Shollie and other intact males like to single out my dog. He doesn’t start fights, but because he’s intact (fixin’ to get neutered) males like to try to go after him. My dog tries to mind his business but when I see him even show a little bit of bad behavior I put him on leash timeout (I leash him for 10 minutes for him to calm down) and it usually works. I hate when owners don’t check their dogs and don’t take their pet home when it’s being aggressive.

Blondie has gotten so big!!! I can see that behavior issue. It's interesting. I think it's more about untrained humans. That's one of the reason I don't own a dog. I don't think I'm ready to commit to do the work daily in order to obtain the dog I want. What surprises me in this video is that pitbull owner didn't really watch his dog, even from afar. He was back to his dog for a long period of time. How can he prevent unwanted behavior ? A lot of what's going on iis silent. The moment all the dogs start barking and nipping, it's too late.

“Not willing to let them just agree to disagree” What a brilliant way to put into words. I had this happen with a pitbull at my dog park. My GSD is about a year old and massive (my grandad calls him a horse) and one day we were in the park with a undisciplined juvenile pitbull who just wouldn’t leave my dog alone. the pit would get amped up and my dog would try to leave but the pit pursued him. Ran my dog ragged. Eventually my dog ran to me for help and the pit jumped on top of him trying to put him on the ground. i had to literally pull the pit (by his fancy harness) off my dog. Not saying that they can’t be great dogs but they need to be put in their place every once in a while.

I watched the video a lot of times. I look for details of dog behaviour. :D In the last fight 13:40, Blondie looked interested and went with Midnight to see what was happening but it seemed that she did not know what to do when lost Midnight into the figth. The body language of Midnight was different than Blondie. She had her target between the eyes. She went directly to the big black dog that was "eating" a small dog. I guess that the action of the girl with a glass of putting Midnight between her legs, snapped Midnight off.

the only thing I didn't like about this video is the way you talk down on Pitbull's. like most dogs with a bad trainer or owner wouldn't respond in the same manner I have been training and breeding Pitbull's for 15 years now and I haven't had not one situation where my pups or adult Pitbull's alike wouldn't stop and come off a simple command no matter what the situation was.

13:46 she is talking about how pits dont bark and they just fight and saying they're aggressive then a fight breaks out with the little dogs 😂😂 all dogs are the same it just depends on the owner, like that fight didn't seem bad cos they're little so you dont see threat but if they were bigger it be dangerous, bet those little dogs are more aggressive they also may know who to be aggressive with. Delete my comment dont care, but just know you dont know much.

With uncaring owners like that is why people have dog phobias. I grew up in an environment like that with untrained dogs and I've had to stop fights with other unknown dogs to protect mine and it was a big rottweiler and a pitty. If your dog cant handle itself dont get one cause obviously you cant either. Lol. But ya man idk how you do it anxiety level rocket high. Why I dont go to dog parks. I really appreciate the your channel. A lot of dog owners are so untrained and that's why the dogs behave the way they do. They allow aggression to go unchecked and when the dogs attack other dogs or children......then they apologize and yell at the dog. They need to curb the behavior from home. Thanks for posting! Good training for dog owners of which I will be in a few weeks!

lol - Let's go to the Dog park and sit around, record people and talk about how bad their dogs are compared to my dogs. "OMG that pit bull needs correction, look at him pissing everywhere. So dominant." "OMG why does she have him on a harness, that is so perplexing to me." Feels like a child's playground.

What gets me is the amount of dogs without collar s on ( prob just because it’s law here 🇬🇧) your dogs have good recall but a lot don’t and if they had collars on their owners can grab them rather than follow them about because the dogs slip out of their hands. Your dogs are beautiful absolutely beautiful
@TheRealAlfredoGallardo
@TheRealAlfredoGallardo Год назад
Absolutely!!!!! My thoughts exactly. Dogs should ALWAYS have a collar when in public (especially!). Owners have to have a way to grab and separate them if necessary. No collar makes that very difficult.

Midnight came to the rescue of that poor little dog the other black dog was shaking. 13:40 midnight seen what the big dog was doing to the little dog and probably was tryna break it up. ----Also phewww woah i’m glad that brindle pit didn’t get involved in the huge altercation, I have pit/ dogo argentina mixes too and know that they don’t go looking for trouble but if a dog keeps following them giving them a problem they will not bck down. It’s always other pit-bulls that they’ve had altercations with, they just test each other too much within their breed and then don’t bck down.

I am not sure why every one thinks they can own a pit bull. This goes both way's owners that do not know how to be the Alpha is the problem & training. I would say 65% of pit pull owner's should not have that dog breed. As it is a advanced breed/pet. Its like owning a raccoon, Lynx, puma, witch our very advanced pet's. I know I may receive hate for the pit bull stuff, but it is so true. A lot of BAD Owner's give a good breed a bad name.
