I‘m so thankful for you being honest with us! It’s not your fault being misdiagnosed, it’s part of the process. Almost every person with a uterus experiences similar things yet awareness isn’t spread enough. I hope you and Ryan will be able to conceive easily when you want children.

Your reaction to the misdiagnosis is completely understandable. You carry around the emotional weight of the potential implications, only to find it was for naught. I'm sorry this has been such a rollercoaster for you, and thank you for sharing your story so honestly.

I think we all get misdiagnosed at least once in our lives and it obviously isn't our fault. The best idea is to focus on the happy parts of this story. You wanted children and you will have them!! I'm so happy for you xx

I’m really sorry you had to go through this, and I can understand how you felt after you found out you didn’t have It..But just know that all the pain you felt while thinking you had It, will be replaced with a lot of joy and you will have your family, I’m sure about It. Sometimes the best things need time to happen in our lives! I send you a virtual hug, take care!

This was an interesting video, don’t feel bad at all - so many women (young women especially) seem to struggle with periods and general female health such as UTIs etc., I definitely have experience with this and have also had an ultrasound at an NHS hospital. As I get older (I’m the same age as you) i’m starting to think that even with the best intentions many GPs or even specialists don’t have the time, knowledge or resources to properly investigate symptoms and provide clarification on what is normal and what isn’t etc. There is a lack of clarity regarding female health and in general people don’t talk about it enough so there is also a lack of awareness. (Maybe if men dealt with all this then it would be different ?) Anyway thanks for being honest and talking about it x

Hello Ella! I really empathize with you on this video, because I have been having irregular periods since forever. Some of my friends do have them as well and that comforts me, as I am not alone in this. At first, when I started my periods, I was told it was because the hypothalamic pituitary axis was inmature, but I am 23 now so that can't be. They have told me it is not polycystic kidney syndrome neither, fortunately I was not misdiagnosed, but some of my friends were, apparently it is very common, because when they do the ultrasound they can see a lot of follicles in the ovaries, especially in the first part of the menstrual cycle, and they may think it is PCOS when it is just normal. They should do a test to see the levels of androgens in order to diagnose POCS, but a lot of times they don't do it and just diagnose. For me, the main option now can be functional hypothalamic amenorrhea, mainly because stress affects my hormone levels. Anyway, I am quite scared as well I won't be able to have children naturally, because my ovulations are quite irregular, but I can't know for now, so I try not to worry a lot about it for now. I am about to graduate as a doctor and I hope to keep learning on this topic more and more. Greetings!

Hi gorgeous, okey so first of all I just want to thank you for being so brave and honest with us, you are amazing lovely! Then just want to clarify that is not your fault and that you don't have to feel guilty or whatever because you have been misdiagnosed, we truly believe you when you are saying that you really didn't know that you haven't got PCOS. You are so strong gorgeous and I really hope that when you and Ryan want to have kids you can do it. I wish you the best in your life✨ thanks for saying that you are here for us and I want to tell you the same, like we really don't know eachother personally but if you ever need someone to talk important or just have a good chat I am here for you whenever you want. Hope you are having an amazing day, love you so much and sending you and the fam so much love and positive thoughts 💛

It's cool that you posted this follow-up video, shows good character. I just wonder what that first doctor was looking at on the ultra sound that made her diagnose you that way.

I also only have irregular periods but ultrasound does show ovarian cysts. So I don’t really understand what your doctor is saying because pcos isn’t a one size fits all. Everyone has their own mild to severe level or symptoms. Idk why you feel stupid though, be happy if that’s truly the case and don’t worry you can still get pregnant!

Did you ever worry about being in the pill for so long or the secondary effects it could have like trombosis ?

You have nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of. Don't feel stupid. You're not a doctor. The doctor who misdiagnosed you is the one who should be ashamed and feel stupid. But what did your current doctor say about why your periods are so messed up, and is the anxiety and the panic attacks just ... psychological issues to be dealt with now? Make sure the shrink doesn't misdiagnose you!
@elladeanne9207
@elladeanne9207 4 года назад
Thank you! The reason why my periods originally didn't stop was due to a hormone issue but I have no idea why I only got them once every 2 months when I came off the pill for a little while so no answer there. The anxiety and panic attacks are something that I have to manage daily!x

So then you were diagnosed with PCOS based on irregular periods? That is so ridiculous... but definitely not tour fault. It blows my mind that a doctor would just call that PCOS but you are not in the wrong for believing a doctor, and it’s definitely not wrong to feel what you were told you could/would feel. It’s nothing but natural to feel symptoms or blame certain things on PCOS if you were told and believed for a long time that you have it. I hope you quickly come to terms with the fact that you don’t have it and wish you all the best in the future w having kids 🤞🏻 x
