The King's Academy, a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence with a Top-5 Nationally-Ranked Fine Arts Program, recently performed "Miss Saigon" on its main stage in the Page Family Center for Performing Arts. Starring sophomore Aubee Billie (Kim), senior Clay Hider (2019 Jimmy Awards nominee, Christopher Scott), senior Kyle Martin (John Thomas), sophomore Olivia Henley (2019 Jimmy Awards nominee, Ellen Scott), junior Chris Santiago (The Engineer), and senior Chris Pappas (Thuy), and a talented ensemble cast--this musical was an instant crowd favorite.
TKA’s Conservatory of the Arts, a two-time American High School Theatre Festival award-winning fine arts program, is led by Mr. David Snyder (Artistic Director, Musical Theater, Department Chair), Mr. Nathan Adams (Vocal Arts), Mrs. Cathy Higgins (Dance- Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz), Mr. Douglas Gawriljuk (Dance- Ballet and Modern), Miss Sarah Fahey (Theatre Arts), Mr. Brad Majzner (Stagecraft), Mr. David Skinner (Instrumental Director), Mr. Wes Lowe (Assistant Band Director), Mr. Patrick Clifford (Strings), Mrs. Macey Norton (Video/Digital Arts), Mrs. Lauren Moxey (Visual Art), Mrs. Stephanie Grasso (Elementary Choir, Woodwinds), and Mrs. Robin Phillips (Piano).

It’s not an easy production to put on. You have to have an amazing actress who sing the part but she also has to be an amazing actress who can carry a whole production. Another thing is the story is not really appropriate for high schools. I know they do it , but not really appropriate. Also the budget to put it on is expensive since you have to have a helicopter land on the stage. It’s one of the most famous parts so you can’t not have it.

The young woman who played Kim was wonderful and so emotional. Hate the premise of this musical, as a Vietnamese person, but I do love the music.

To the girl in red: You have a beautiful vibrato and dynamics, the one thing is that u r kinda running the note through your nose (typically found in pop singing) if u pull it back to resonate through the back of your head kinda it will help ur voice be nice and strong and with the scooping because u definitely have the potential and the foundation already there. The girl who plays Kim: very very very good, it seems like it feels hard to hold the constant note at that level of belting that you’re doing right? It may help when you’re dropping your jaw to just relax it there in that position, just relax and hold it steady. A little bit more warmth on the vowels and it actually rly sounds like Eva Noblezada goodjob

Agreed too! I would have liked to see a lot more emotion from Gigi. There is emotion in the vocals, personally I would use much more. she’s sort of just standing singing. But both excellent from both girls!

I am filipino.We played this when i was in 9th grade. I really miss acting in front of people. But there is no back up dancers. But its good.i really loved it🥰😍❤️

Okay....I am having Deja Vu! I see Frollo, Quasimodo, Esmerelda, Clopin, and Phebus. If only Frollo (Kylier) was the main man then you can say he finally got Esmeralda. Only nearly 500 yrs later.

Personally, I think they are both good. Slightly forward with the girl playing Gigi, I would put it back a little. I didn’t see much emotions with her at the high bits. It felt ad though she was just singing it. Much more with Kim. Kim has good vibrato! Great emotion. Both excellent from girls!

Great performance indeed from acting ans vocals but jsut a tiny nit pick is that for me the dancing though really great and greatly expressive for me it takes out solemn and silet and dreary moment that this song needs which all the old version and specially the origianl west end release and the 2000 manila production with Lea were it gave pure silence just to help further the point of how deep these womens situtatuins were really where
