I took it as her realising that she had to use her Plan B and although she had planned it all in advance, career suicide is still career suicide at the end of the day. You kinda see her mentally preparing the following scenes before her hearing as well.

i think you should really watch the movie. she isn't "against" guns she is for properly checking and surfacing records on people buying guns so that it isn't terrorists or criminals buying them.

The same happened in Australia, Jamaica, and nearly every country to ban guns. The United States' homicide rate is decreasing and has been decreasing since the early 90s, while gun ownership has risen. Also, our homicide rate due to guns is not 30K because that includes suicides. People who are suicidal don't need guns to kill themselves. The actual number of gun homicides is around 8K, and like I said, that is decreasing each year.
