En este miss universo hubo mucha belleza, que difícil estuvo para los jueces . Todas hermosas en su estilo. Me encanta Lorraine, dueña de una belleza natural, dulce y elegante a la vez, tenía mucha clase.
back when natural beauties won miss universe. there was no plastic surgery and face lifts. this girl is beautiful and sweet and so graceful. sadly the miss universe show has been sexed up. I wish they would go back to this format and have the little girls greeting them in evening gowns again.
+Justin Bieber Sucks Est. 1998 I think most contestants now have had work not just one. it's sad that they feel the need to change themselves because of society
There had been plastic surgery prior to this. Miss Universe 1979 had a huge nose job prior to winning Miss Universe, so I wouldn't be surprised some girls here had something done.
Lorraine Downes married in 1986 with Murray Mexted, a New Zealand rugby All Black, with whom she had two children, before divorcing in 2001. She also has a successful business in New Zealand. She is now married to former New Zealand international cricketer Martin Crowe. After years of relative anonymity, Lorraine competed in and won the New Zealand version of -Dancing with the Stars- in 2006 with dance partner Aaron Gilmore.
Way to go Lorraine! - I feel you nailed it from that personal interview (top 12), surely warmed the crowd and the judges heart for appreciating the hospitality from the people of St Louis, Missouri - the first and only Ms Universe winner from NZ.....and I think it is way overdue for another one, its been 30 years now..
@@taroupriapus9760 that is what I like about Miss USA and Miss Universe, having high scores only move you forward in the competition. When the judges cast their final votes, they could change their minds at the last moment.
Bellísimas ambas rubias, tambien lo eran la italiana y española pero no brillaron debido a la timidez que proyectaban. La verdad es que todas las semifinalistas muy bellas.
I love when the winner is from a new country, like this edition. I miss the time when the real beauty wins these kinds of pageants. Not inclusion, not circus.
The old miss universe pageants with Bob Barker were the best the had class. And the women were very intelligent unlike today all you have to do is look good bikini with implants
Lorraine iis the best of everything. For the 80 she represents the beauty of that time. And how charming she is. The sweet voice and the soft way she walks.
4 out 5 Finalist Countries ends with “Land” 😅 England, Switzerland, Ireland and New Zealand. USA must be USALand to compliment the 4 other countries hahaha
Miss Universe 1980, Shawn Nichols Weatherly will always be for me the most beautiful Miss Universe of all time. Miss New Zealand was beautiful, but I have to say that Miss USA was even more so. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I was very happy for New Zealand, too.
I think they picked NZ in the end for she had a warmer personality and was the underdog. USA was glamorous but they felt Lorraine was probably more relatable and CInderella-esque. Or the judges were a bit too eager to show their impartiality to let the home delegate win.
Galileocang, the biggest upset in MU history is you commenting on this clip! I did have a personal liking for Switzerland and USA who seems outspoken and witty. Due to being only one interview this year, Ms NZ came out first...and did she came our firing!....with humour, graceful with her answer and then rounded off appreciating the wonderful hospitality from the people of St Louis - this I felt was enough to keep in the running till the very end - so this said, this was her fate, this was her year, the title was hers - well done, Lorraine Elizabeth Downes!!
She was not the favorite, but caught the heart of everyone in the world. Lorraine Downes with her angelical face. She rememer us that sweet singer NIKA COSTA.
As sweet as New Zealand was, I would’ve picked USA to win this year. This was one of the Times USA should’ve won! The face is stunning and her gown was nothing but excellent. It would actually do well in today’s age. Maybe they didn’t want to crown another American just 3 years after winning... unfortunately MUO gave a lot of wins to Miss USA in the early years; leaving out some runner ups that should’ve won!! 1983 and the stunning Debbie Shelton in 1970 are some Miss USAs that should’ve won!!!!
Please dont remind me about Debbie Shelton losing in 1970 MU, I want to enjoy the rest of my day, lol, but yes totally agree on her, that still gets in my craw though its 52 years ago. I think that was definitely what u were saying in that Miss USA won too soon, only 3 years before and they didnt want another one so soon, so they had to space it out. I really think USA should have won in 1970, 78, 83, 86 and 1990, but the winners do have a certain charm and beauty so I can see why they won, especially in 1983 with NZ.
@@dansby37 people seem to forget Julie’s win at Miss USA was an upset victory over Texas, who was leading the competition. So history repeated itself with her leading but ended up as a runner-up at MU.
I love the farewell walk of miss Universe 1982 and the crowning of Miss Universe 1983, honorable mention to Miss England Leslie Moore, I would like her to have placed as first runner up.
Lorraine Downs, the winner, later said she and Miss USA shared a penthouse apartment for that year, which was a tradition at the time. Lorraine said Julie, Miss USA, was very snooty and refused to speak directly to her.
@@kkuldanji6378 Only because she had issues with Donnie? I saw Alicia once in a flight and she was't fat, she's beautiful and your wife but haters will hate!👎👎👹
It was a tough decision all were beutiful women . Miss Ingland was gourgeous as well Miss USA . The winner was Newzeland. She is a gourgeous woman as well. Viva Newzeland!
Well deserved win for Miss New Zealand! I thought Miss Switzerland (3rd runner-up) was gorgeous too, a kind of Snow White, with pitch black hair and white skin.
Definitely would’ve crowned Julie and Debbie in 1983/1970 for Miss Universe. MUO likes to give surprising wins to Miss Universe.. exception being 1967 and 1980 who were both major favorites their years. 1995 was less surprising to some extent
Based on the crowd reaction, we can tell New Zealand wasn’t the favorite to win. She is naturally beautiful but USA and Switzerland are more stunning and at another level! Ireland was also a crowd favorite based on the cheers she received after being called as second runner up.
I'm sure many of the contestants were equally happy that NZ won as well as USA losing. Julie was probably hyped the entire time as the favorite only to be upended at the very end.
