This time around I filmed the Miss Universe pageant video live with no spoilers from social media! Instagram the__sovere... Email: sovereignsrealm@gmail.com
I couldn’t stop smiling when she said Miss South Africa and Miss Venezuela need Jesus to beat Miss Philippines😁 thanks so much for your genuine reaction. Love lots from the Philippines 💕
@@loisemir29 in what way it is blasphemous? davonna is just saying that south africa and venezuela need a miracle to beat philippines. your spirituality is just too shallow!
I watched live at Impact Arena, Bangkok. • When USA was called, she was booed .. audience hated her... audience around me were screaming “ booe-ly.. ( bully) • South Africa’s gown was punctured and as she walked it caught on her heels, she tried to kicked it as she walked. • In live -audience, the Philippines was consistently crowds fave.
@JeJeMoN ME They mocked her because of her bullying scandal, where a video was leaked in which she was mocking Miss Vietnam's accents and language proficiency
Beauty Holic : No one said anything about Australia and Colombia but when it comes to USA this is so wrong, everybody’s gonna die. We can’t forget what she did, once the deed is done this is too late but no one’s perfect and if it wasn’t recorded, anyone would have knew about that.
Filipinos were also "partially" rooting for Vietnam. I mean Catriona would've still won, but at least she'll have some competition that didn't need Jesus. So, yeah. Vietnam was a crowd favorite among Filipinos as well.
Thats so true... Same what happened in 2016, Yes it was held here, and everyone is behind Maxine, but Filipino pageant fans were so in love with Ms. Thailand, Chalita Suansane. Filipinos love "Cinderella" stories and always root for those who have struggled and have overcome their poverty.
I’m a Grade 11 student, and during the live telecast of the Ms. Universe, our whole school actually watched it. We were in the canteen when the Top 3 was announced. I agree with your statement that only Ms. Vietnam has a chance to beat Ms. Philippines. When the Top 3 was announced and Ms. Vietnam wasn’t called, we already knew that Ms. Philippines won. Her answer in the finals solidify her spot as Ms. Universe.
Only Vietnam had a chance to beat Philippines IF ONLY she is a good speaker. But no. Even if she was called in the top 3, she would not have that chance to beat Catriona who is such a smart girl.
The thing about Philippines is that, she got a very sensitive question. Our president really has a strong stance on illegal drugs, so Catriona's answer was diplomatic at best. The less she said, the better.
I know you’re not a fan of Philippines but the reason why her fans have such an emotional attachment is because they witnessed her get robbed in the Miss World 2016 pageant. She was a clear winner just as you said here but she wasn’t crowned. I’m just glad the universe had bigger plans for her.
Lineishka Pérez lol did u see puerto rico’s expression when she was announced??? She was so shocked. . She didnt expect that coz obviously Philippines and Kenya gave the best answer. Anyway its good that Catriona wasn’t crowned coz she is destined to be Ms Universe. Also during Miss World Catriona received most of the awards so thats that.
@Lineishka Perez. I feel you...but unfortunately, the world doesn't have the same sentiment...it was witnessed around the world! No sense of using bad language!
On 2015, Pia Wurtzbach was a surprise win but this year, we all knew that Catriona is a sure win. She came prepared having 10 months of preparation under her belt. She was on hands in everything and even picked her own team to tranform all her visions into reality to represent our country. She’s really by far the best representative we ever had in Miss Universe. Thank you for your reaction! Love from the Philippines!
just finished the whole video! thank you for the kind words for the philippines and our new miss U. i have been a fan of miss U since i was in gradeschool and i am now in my 50s. i have never seen a ms. philippines who is so nationalistic than catriona (considering she is half filipino, half australian). she brought to the pageant our history and heritage. all the dresses she wore to miss U were beautiful textiles from our country. even in her clutch bag was accessorized with our national flower, sampaguita. the earring cuff she used on the finals was the 3 stars and the sun rays in our flag, her hand movements during the national costume represented the 3 groups of islands of the country, luzon, visayas, mindanao, even her entire costume represented that (the big lantern (made from the lantern capital of the phils, pampanga which is in luzon, her body suit with tattooes of the "pintados"from the warriors of visayas, and the beautiful headdress of t'boli women in mindanao). the gown at the preliminaries was inspired from a bird called ädarna in a filipino folklore, and lastly the red gown at the finals is inspired from an erupting volcano, mt. mayon (in albay, bicol province where she is from) with lava flowing down from the crater, and thus the red, orange and yellow colors in her gown, made by a filipino designer, mak tumang. and all the pageant analysts and commentators here in my country were saying that she is the MOST PREPARED candidate we ever sent to miss u. and all her efforts (and her team as well) and sacrifices paid off. she competed in miss world few years ago but she only bagged 1st runner up. needless to say, she is not meant for the world, but for the universe ! mabuhay ang PILIPINAS! mabuhay Miss Universe 2018! mabuhay CATRIONA GRAY!
Word is, Vietnam's translator hadn't translated her answer properly. Apparently words have been omitted and sentences were cut short, if this is true, and had the translator done it properly, I feel that Vietnam would have been in the top 3. She was this year's dark horse in the competition, she and Philippines would have been duelling for the crown had that been the case. I wouldn't have any qualms if she did win this year instead of Catriona, but Philippines was just on point every single microsecond. Congratulations to all the delegates for a job well done, and of course Congratulations to the reigning Queen of the Universe.
The last Q and A would have been appropriate for Vietnam. It would have been a battle between working at the poorest area (Miss Philippines) and being a poor (Miss Vietnam).
Gerry de la Cruz the question is not about being poor. The question is what did you learn in your lifetime? And how can you apply this on your time as Miss Universe? Catriona Gray’s platform has always been about children. When Miss Vietnam introduce herself, she talk about coming from ethnic minority and getting married at a young age. I don’t think she will beat Catriona’s answer as it was on point.
"The Philippines, the unstoppable force is back!" Really enjoyed this reaction video of yours! Thank you so much :) I loved Belgium's and Vietnam's hair. I found South Africa really beautiful too and absolutely a worthy opponent to Catriona, but Catriona just killed the Q&A portion and she really stood out with her volcano-inspired red dress in honor of the Mayon Volcano in her hometown Albay, Philippines :) Even her slow-mo turn is lava-inspired :) Looking forward to your next Miss Universe reaction video.
Understand I will always do my best to be fair and unbiased. Regardless of a contestants representative country or fan base I will judge and critique EVERYONE. Just because everyone wanted to jump on the Philippines band wagon I’ve never been a follower and I wanted all the girls to have a even starting point in my mind, You will find no favoritism here. I probably critiqued Vietnam the most and I love her. However I was never delusional in that I knew Philippines was definitely going to put up a fight going in and if you thought I was not a fan of Catriona you definitely didn’t watch the previous video or finish this one. I’m happy some of the women were able to put up a fight for Catriona though clearly it wasn’t enough lol it made for a good show.
Sis, you don't need to explain yourself. This is your channel. You are entitled to your own opinion. Just let them ultra-nationalistic fans be. They don't deserve your precious time. You were honest, fair, and unbiased throughout the video. And I appreciate that. Keep being that strong, opinionated, and gorgeous black queen that you are. Much love from PH.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 you needn’t explain...we’re all entitled to our own opinion...we should respect each other and avoid being rude...your analysis is fair and respectful...I don’t see why people should get offended, just because your opinion differ from theirs...✌🏼❤️🍫.....peace, love, and chocolates!!!
Davonna Finley I'm from Philippines and I apologize if there are some Filipinos who are being rude. I love how passionate you are about Miss Universe and I absolutely enjoyed your reaction! 😊
I’ve been following a lot of pageant vloggers and I’ve watched all of their 2018 recap videos. Yours for me was the best!! Enjoyed every bit of it. Thank you 🙏

@Arlene de Castro: Errhh, please do some research before you post it you totally wrong miss Vietnam got her catwalk ‘cause she is fashion model runways in her real life for past few years... she also happened to be miss Vietnam 2017.
That "need Jesus" was definitely epic. It totally blew me away 🤣 We need this kind of commentators in Miss Universe backstage. Very honest, unbiased and yet so entertaining!!! 😍
Miss Philippines was pretty much a shoe in. She deserved it. I agree Vietnam was one of my faves. She’s so humble and loved her reactions when she was called. I wish she was 1st runner up.
I love PH but I prefer her walk in the preliminary swimsuit. She's more fierce and energetic in the prelims compared to her walk in the finals. Maybe because of the cape as a prop which is annoying.
I blame that cape or whatever it is tbh. It was bothering her. She did great in the finals but we simply could not forget about the prelims. It was just SLAYYYY at its finest.
Miss Thailand's gown is a breath of fresh air from similar-looking ones in the past recent years. I liked it on her as it featured her best assets which were her jawline, neck and shoulder. good job!
Everything is Filipino. You dad and mom are Filipinos. Your titos and titas are Filipinos. Goodness! Everyone is Filipino. Cut the crap. What's the relevance? Do we crave for validation that much?
Thank you so much for your honest and fair comments, reactions, insights and congratulatory messages not only to the Philippines but to all the part of semi finals... So far your reaction video it the most beautiful I ever watched... I can feel that there's no bias... Even Philippines is not your top picks your able to acknowledge all her hardwork... It was nice to watched Miss Universe 2018 because there are a lot of strong candidates like Vietnam and South Africa standing them on the top 5 actually shows that the Miss Universe Org is not a cooking show like the other pageant.
Hi! I am from the Philippines and I really loved your honest review on this.....I can feel that you really speak from your heart. Thanks again and looking forward to more reviews soon.
watched your video many many times.... i really liked your reaction after the final Q&A... Hope to watch you again in MISS U 2019.... love from phils..
I saw your video while ago...thank you soo much for loving our Miss Universe Catriona...we love you as well...Godbless your channel...youre very welcome to our country...
I'm still watching this for now to beat my boredom, probably this is my 20th time... Love your videos... Looking forward for this years miss universe and also your other videos... Stay safe..
If not for Catriona representing Philippines, I would've rooted for Miss Vietnam. Miss Vietnam missed out on certain opportunities, like during the free speech, you know, where she could have used an interpreter like what Miss Belgium did. That would have changed the game and leveled up the game for her. I mean, you have an interpreter - use'em! I was really hoping for her to win but you know, I can't betray my country 😂 PH.
siriusblack06 I think she was smart to answer in English sort of to throw it back at Sarah for making fun of her, she answered fearlessly in English even though it wasn’t perfect. Translator ended up fcking her over in the end anyway
All girls are beautiful but Ms Catriona was the most prepared for this contest. She planned everything- from toning her body, incorporating Filipino culture and crafts in all of her outfits, to her video presentation, current events, possible Q&A to mindset of not possible but sure winner. The entire pageant-crazy country would expect nothing less from the next Ms Philippines (2019). Very good impartial assessment. Salamat! I also love Vietnam. I think Ms Philippines, Ms S Africa and Ms Vietnam should be the top 3, if only the interpreter did her best for Ms Vietnam.
Hi Davonna, I liked this video. I'm watching these kinds of videos simply for the reaction on the reveal of Cat's dress, though yours hooked me through the entire video. And girl I could totally relate with your reactions. Looking back to my tweet commentary during telecast, she did underperform (compared to prelims) during the swimsuit. I felt that the fabric (idk what it's called) weighed Catriona down or did not help highlight her walk. But that dress was the game changer. For Miss Vietnam, I was upset that she did not wear her yellow dress. I liked her so much and I was rooting for her to and Catriona to win. Plus the interpreter totally killed her chances for good T_T
To answer your question about translators, I think in most Asian countries they take pride is being able to deliver what they’re saying in English because it shows intelligence and bravery. It’s the same way we look at the situation in the Philippines. But in this case she really should’ve gotten a translator.
Thanks for seeing the capabilities and strengths Catriona Gray, from my country, the Philippines, holds. While all were stunning and beautiful in their own ways, "Cat" - clearly - held the most concise answer, in the second Q & A segment. For her part, Ms. Vietnam would have been great at Top Three. Better, I hoped she would've been First Runner up, for us Filipinos - imagine that: both Winner and First Runner up as Asians - Southeast Asians, to be precise (sigh.). I, too, wondered, why she didn't use a translator for her speech. But then I guess she wanted to show her boldness to the World - the Universe, rather - that she could attempt to convey her message in English. For me, though it was in broken English, I totally got her message she was trying to convey. Ms. H'Hen Nie is truly an inspiration to her country, coming from such humble beginnings, and giving to others. Congrats to her for making Top Five out of the 90. She has done Vietnam proud. But, "..... they need Jesus ...." - now THAT was the Ultimate Line of this video.
😂😂😂 can't move on about "baby jesus" and the reaction when Steve called Miss Venezuela 😂😂 I love Miss. Vietnam too. She's my 1st runner up 😍😍😍 And Congratulation to MISS. CATRIONA GRAY.You deserved the crown 😘😘❤❤ 💥💥
miss philippines knows how to play..her answer in top 5 is shirt but precise and on point. our girl know how to play no wonder her top 3 answer did a great job..and we know gurl miss philippines is not your bet..well thats fine..she really deserved it and she earn it..
Hi a filipino here. The dress was inspired by lava from the "Mayon volcano" in the philippines. The walk that she did was called the "lava walk". A few years ago a filipina also won the miss universe crown, her name is Pia Wurtzbach she wore a blue gown inspired by the oceans in the philippines. The Philippine flag is composed of 4 colors blue, red, white & yellow yellow(for the sun and stars) coincidentally there were crowned 4 miss universe coming from the philippines,The first one wore yellow,2nd one wore white, next one wore blue and the last one was red wich was this one miss catriona gray. Miss.catriona gray wore an ear cuff designed as the 3 stars and one sun in the philippine flag.
I like her genuine reactions. She is not pandering to us Filipino fans. She has her own biases and she voices out her opinions accordingly. But damn, you are so funny! "They need Jesus." almost spat my tea.
Very true. Honestly, I feel like Catriona and Tamaryn were the front runners. They were both queen material going into the pageant. Catriona was obviously most popular but Tamaryn had the goods as well. Unlike the other contestants who had to prove they can win. It honestly boiled down to who would foil between Tamaryn and Catriona. Tamaryn killed swimsuit. Catriona slayed evening gown. Tamaryn’s final answer wasn’t as strong as Catriona’s. And that was the key moment for me. However, Catriona is amazing. No doubt. She is one of my favourites.
@@EmkaySA13 best batch(all girls are very civilized and genuine friends to each other), best year, best country host, and most of all the best Miss U winner of all time! My mom said that 2018 is a very lucky set of numbers. I guess that year all the stars in the universe aligned. I can never get tired watching this glory year of Miss U.
