We need Edna from the incredibles screaming NO CAPES for tonight. My personal favorite is Miss Japan. She's super fierce, confident and unique looking. I'm also slightly biased because I won my first pageant with her hair style. I stopped doing the straight hair because of damage but curly with bangs I never seen anyone else do teehee. Go japan!

I came into the Miss Universe pageant with Brazil and Colombia as my favorites. Then through the competition I was captivated by Miss Iceland and Miss France. I thought surely these two contenders would make it to the top 5. I was disappointed when it came to the final three contestants but upon their answers to questions I could see why they were selected. South Africa's answer to the final question was the best and I honestly thought she carried herself very well. It was a great choice at the end!

Dani, I am so happy Miss South Africa won. She will make a great Miss Universe. A well deserved win. Did you pick Miss South Africa to win? Who was your favourite coming in after the preliminaries and who were you rooting for when you attended the competition. I must say honestly I did not pick South Africa. If someone asked me who would be Miss Universe, I would have told them Brazil, Colombia, Philippines, Puerto Rico, USA, or France. I would not have picked South Africa. Let me know your thoughts on the competition. Were you surprised by the finalists etc?
gold maple I think had you watched her national pageant performance; you’d have picked her as a strong contender. I think she was on everyone’s radar due to performance at her nationals and I am glad she went into the Miss Universe competition with the same momentum.
South Africa was my bet from the very start. Kahit mag iiyak and mga Pinoy fans. This is not the time for back to back. Sorry. Filipinos need Jesus or miracle for someone like Gazini to win but it's not going to happen. Ms. Brazil got the personality. Puerto Rico the COnfidence, France is captivating but South Africa got the "IT" factor. She is even better than 2017 Miss Universe Demi in my opinion. That year my bet was Ms. Thailand and Ms. USA

capes for finals night look better! but yeah.. the stage... i feel like people couldn't perform properly because they had to restrain themselves because they'll literally run out of room if they go full out. i believe argentina was trained by someone who used to train venezeulan queens!! so interesting note about looking like a miss venezuela. also - hello dark horses kenya and bangladesh!!
What do you think of the new crown? It's going to be a battle to the last minute of competition. There will be no room for any mistakes come finals. The playing field is quite leveled. I feel just a few points will separate. Finally, just like 2017...the prelims was a disaster. Even the music was tragic. MUO...they've got to do better. I hope the final production will make up for it!
Whoever said Miss Universe was not a contact sport? Do the contestants have a choice of heel height? I did see in pageant arrival video that Miss Norway was struggling, saying she had never worn heels that high.
Jeff Zest hahaha clever 👌🏼 no, you don’t have a choice. Heels are sponsored so everyone has to wear the shoes they assign you at fittings and registration.
It wasn’t the cape that made the girls slipped actually. There’s something slippery maybe water or anything greasy on the center stage. Cause if look closely the girls slipped on the exact same spot. But yes this edition was something you dont want to watch again because of poor production.
Cape “aggedon oh how sad! Oh Dani, I hate to see you upset! NAM jr teen intro was very similar. SO many girls froze for close to 30 seconds, like deer in headlight. They had it so late at night and I believe the girls were tired.
Miss universe rating for 2019 went drop from last year. One of them because paid prelims, and maybe factor of host country picking (and even last minute) Even paid prelims live was ended, MUO released their youtube free live streaming again, so what's the point?
I was surprised but all for it. Considering how she was treated by MAO, I'm happy that she's welcomed by MUO. As a former contestant for both, it was always evident that MAO didn't want any association with other systems, and they certainly didn't want to acknowledge other pageants. At MUO I never felt that they cared if other systems came to our pageants or if we shared appearances together. On the flip side, I remember MAO locals trying to make sure that no other pageant titleholders would attend the same events as their queens. When I was a local rep for a hometown pageant, MAO would try to make sure I wouldn't be at the same appearances as their queens, even though my title was from a pageant that was produced by the city, so I was recognized as the official ambassador, not the MAO titles.
Dani Walker well said. I would hope that MAO would foster a sense of sisterhood. But they really seem like they want to push Cara’s reign as if it didn’t happen. Which is wrong, between the two I thought the MUO is stepping up their game. Just an opinion.

I definitely watched it but refused to pay $20 😂 The capes....I’m never a fan. And the overall production value is just bad. I’m glad I decided not to go to Atlanta. Here’s my predictions: Africa & Asia-Pacific - Australia - Kenya - Philippines - Tanzania - Thailand Europe - France (Yes she tripped but she was gorgeous and I LOVED Albania until I saw her evening gown....I was personally not a fan of the lime green and multiple cutouts) - Lithuania -Slovak Republic - Ireland - Norway Americas - Mexico - El Salvador - Canada - Brazil - Puerto Rico Wildcard - South Africa - Spain - Haiti - Sierra Leone - USVI Alternates - USA (yes, I know it’s a hot take but America’s is a TOUGH, TOUGH area) - Ecuador - Indonesia - Vietnam - Peru My picks for top 6 are Tanzania, Australia, Mexico, France, Thailand, El Salvador, and Philippines (yes I have 7 but I can’t pick!) and my winner is Tanzania. There were so many great girls it was so hard to pick! All the contestants were fabulous and I really hope the production has some drastic changes before finals for the sake of the contestants and us. Great job to everyone and great video!
I still think the 2017 prelim stage was the worst ever. This comes in second. I am extremely disappointed at the production staff. Didn't they prepare the stage prior to the start of the show? I just feel that things could have been avoided if the staff was proactive. I love your choices. Same as mine.
I just don’t get the fascination with South Africa, Puerto Rico or Vietnam. I agree that Puerto Rico seems hungry for the title, but is that a good thing (I’m being sincere in my question)? I would think it could be a liability. My absolute favorite is Thailand, followed by Colombia, Kenya and France. If any of these women win I’d be quite happy. Have fun at Miss Universe!!!
I get it. They do not want a back to back win. BUT, that 1 slip up in Gazini's statement is VERY MINOR, and her overall performance and physical attributes as well as her demeanor outweigh that minor fault. Sadly, that was all that was needed- a Reason to take her off the top 10. There is NO rational reason why she shouldn't be in the top 10. The other girls had weak statements. A few in the top 10 sounded fake and shallow. Some, like Thailand, sounded weak and fake. The OBVIOUS and logical reason is that they SIMPLY dropped Gazini to NOT enter the top 10 because being in the top 10 means walking in her swimsuit, walking in the evening gown and after that it will be hard to stop her from being in top 5 or top 3. She is that HEAVY of a contender. If they want other countries to place, just take her out because there will be no stopping her after she enters top 10. Thailand was weak. Indonesia was weak. Colombia was weak. Many in the top 10 were weak. The judges, except for Riyo Mori, were young and did not have solid resumes. Gazini is better than other miss Philippines in the past. Smarter than Maxine and had more substance than Rachel. And, physically, is one of the best, if not the best. She is perfect and she's not dumb either. Yes, she's not thAt eloquent but she has substance. Miss UNIVERSE ORGANIZATION is getting confused about who they want as miss universe. Now they want a feminist. If we depend on q and a, Mexico had the better and sincere answer. South Africa saying women are the best breed is WAY TOO FEMINIST. Equality between men and women is just and right. A woman over a man is way too radical. They just want a woman of color now and a feminist. Some years they want beauty, some years they want to balance beauty and smarts ( Gazini can fight tough in this category). This year, they want social media influencers to judge and I guess to move social media, a feminist is their choice. Too many non deserving Latinas in the top 10. I'm not being biased. Judges give very high score for Latinas and women of color and low score for non Latinas. They got their wish. IMG is not convincing anymore. They are playing games. Unfortunately, it is not a game that is well played. People can see through them. I see through them. So, tune them off. I surely will. I am tuning off to anything IMG. better add other topics you will blog about because the number of subscribers for Muo will drop like a landslide.
