Go to google images and type in Christy Fichtner and Denver. Two recent photos will pop up. She sells real estate for Remax Cherrycreek in Denver. She has put on some weight and she has painted her eyebrows on now. If you look hard enough you can find a photo of her along with Ali Nugent Miss Texas USA 2014 and one of Christy's three sons. In that photo it is obvious that Christy at some point had breast implants.
Yes, Halle being 1st runner up had it's advantages, she did go on to become a major actress and won Best Actress with an Academy Award, and had she won this it might have turned out different for her. I mean Christy won and all and very pretty, but she has only been heard of one time over the last 27 1/2 years since this pageant and people don't even recognize her name! Halle Berry on the other hand is very well known and this pageant paved the way for her.
The people that lose at these things sometimes do better than the winners Jennifer Hudson lost an American Idol and just like Halle won an Oscar and has had a successful career I remember watching this pageant with my mom and when Halle lost she told me this is not the last we've seen of this of this young lady
I grew up watching Miss USA pageants. I would rank the ladies I wanted to win based on a few of my personal likes. This was the 1st year that I had my two top favorites based on personal pride in the top 5. I am from Texas so my Texas pride was on Miss Texas to win. Then there was Miss Ohio who I identified with who too was an African-American person. So when it came down to them both I remember feeling over the moon with pride. If you follow the pageant's history I am sure you can imagine my excitement when Miss USA 1995 was both of African-American decent and was from Texas AND went on to become Miss Universe. :-)

An outstanding beauty. She was the clear winner even though the first runner up was very attractive. She should have been the winner at Miss Universe instead of first runner up. I know Miss Venezuela was beautiful, but Christy was more so.

Miss Texas was the huge favourite during the entire pageant stay. This result for this year 1986 Miss USA wasn't a surprise. The truth is Texas is always a powerhouse state in beauty pageants, but the 1980s was their greatest streak and power, so the pageant fans were always looking at who Miss Texas was. But you have to go out there and prove it. Christy Fichtner backed up her being Miss Texas and won over many pageant fans.

Looking back at how Mr Bob Barker announced the past winners for both Miss USA and Miss Universe, there is always the same clue as to whom will win. When there's only two women left on center stage, he is always looking at the face of the winner. Most especially when he is discussing to the last 2 women standing that "should the winner be unable to fullfil her duties the first runner up takes over" as if he is giving the soon to be winner a personal advise to hold on to the crown and keep the title. While Bob is barely looking at the first runner up. Watch all of the crowning moments he hosted and you will see the pattern. Well this is just in retrospect. 😊

While I’m sure most people (especially Halle’s fans) wanted Halle to win, we can’t help but think that life probably would’ve been different for her had she won Miss USA. She could’ve followed Shawn Weatherly’s route or Kelly Hu but who knows? In the end, Miss Texas USA was a very beautiful contestant and was very strong at Miss Universe. Many pageant critics and fans believe she should’ve won Miss Universe 1986 as well! She placed second! To lose to someone who almost won Miss Universe is not shabby at all.

Louise Drevenstam (Miss Sweden and second in Miss Universe) did way better than Angela Visser in the long run if you look her up. That result surprised me in a way because Angela went out in the first round of Miss World but Louise won Miss Europe so that result was against past form.
