Hey, 279 is a good way to end. You're reactions to those misses was absolutely hilarious and I'm sure that was your intention. Somedays you just miss everything in sight. You get mad or upset with the only person responsible and you move on. Did you miss a single 10 pin in that last game? NO!! See, you figured it out😅😅. Go get next time. Really starting to enjoy your bowling and humor you bring. Have fun with it and watch what happens.
I feel ya girl!!! Try my remedy: place your first three finger close to each other and the pinky finger spread far away from the ring finger. Use the 20th board and closer to the foul line the 24th board (maybe near those dots) and relax on your release. Good Luck!!!
I can relate tbh. Missing spares is frustrating. Personally if I miss a lot of spares, I tend to just practice on those only the next time I practice. Or I just look at hand position, footwork, but at least you didn’t kick the ball return. You got this, you’ll make 99% of your spares this weekend. Might have been just a refresher in a way
Maybe a "spare ball" isnt the way to go. Maybe go the Darren Tang route, and just throw the same ball for strikes & spares. It might be better for your overall consistency to not change balls. Can you throw a straighter trajectory on spares using your "strike" ball? Might be worth thinking about....I never used a spare ball because of the way it made me think about ball trajectory totally different....but i peaked in junior bowling. Anyway -- sweet 279! You had it locked in!
One night, i was having issues with sticky approaches on the left side of the lanes, so I moved 5 boards right with my feet to shoot at 10 pins. I have since stayed there because I have been way more consistent. It turns out throwing it at a slightly straighter angle was more natural for me.
Back in the old days before spare balls I used to stand all the way to the left because the ball was going to hook at the end. But with the advent of spare balls I don't stand all the way to the left so that my shot isn't as angled as Miss Klassen. I target the 14 board at the arrows and throw it harder than my strike ball with the goal of hitting the 10 pin right of the center of the spare ball. The 10 pin is the easiest common leave and it indicates your first shot was close.
It depend if you are doing something wrong, or different. Two weeks ago I started missing my 10 pins left. First hitting them all on left side, then just whiffing them. But couldn't feel I was doing anything wrong. Finally just moved my target 1/2 a board right and back to hitting them all. I think some changes I was making when shooting strikes led to me walking a little different for spares. If shooting them wrong, then just have to practice and try to feel what are doing wrong, maybe look at video. I think it's a mistake to try getting better at spares by just practicing it, because there is no point in practicing a bad habit that may have been forming. For a year a teammate was telling me I was missing spares by throwing to hard. So what I do now in practice is throw them too slow. And then when I need to make them in league/tournament I'm much better.
When you practice, try spare ball first at the 10 pin….the entire 1st game. Then use your strike ball to make the spare. You might notice your second game you pound the pocket better after releasing the ball so freely in the first game. Have done this for a while and my practices give me real confidence. Just a thought, luck in the future.
whenever I miss a 10-pin (which is so rare :-) I slow down a touch, make sure my form is solid and my arm swing follows thru at my target and voila - spare.
I know the feeling. I have been struggling on the 10 pin recently. Last night, though I laced a 10 pin... only problem is I was shooting a 6, and the miss cost my team the game. We lost the game by 6 pins. I struck on the first ball in the 10th, so the missed spare cost me (and the team) 11.
When I struggle I watch a 5 minute video on “how to make a spare”, I think her name is Sara K-something. You should look it up. It’s really good. Love the content. 😎
VLOOOOOOOG!!!! So glad to see another Vlog so quickly. I watched Juliana and the lady Shockers win the PBA InterCollegiate Championship against Mount Mercy in early February. It’s nice to see you and Juliana (definitely future PWBA stars) bowling together (again). I love your Vlogs and appreciate them greatly. Btw, I saw on Instagram you bowled a 299, whooo!!! Happy Birthday to Conor! You and Sierra are going to rock the SW doubles tournament 🏆😃
Hey, while the spare game was a rough one you did squeeze a 279 out of that event. Better than what I would've managed! Also, glad to see you and Sierra back on the channel! 👍😁 P.S. Think *'777'!!* 🎰🤑
You have to face the 10 more in your setup. Walk toward the 10 enough to slide 5 boards right of where you started. Look at the video and see where you slid each time. Any time you miss a corner pin look down and see where you slid.
Nice 279! That's identical to my highest ever game bowled in junior leagues (40 years ago). Split in the first followed by 11 in a row. No 300 drama. The punchline is that in the very next game a kid on the other team bowled 280, so I held league high game for about an hour. Fleeting glory. Oh yeah...and his second strike in the 10th was a Brooklyn.😖
Can I get a shout out in the next video!!! :) Thanks! Keep up the good work!!! On a side note, until Julianna turned around, I thought it was Sierra!!! lol Jonathan
I have the same issue on the left side with the 7 pin so I feel your pain! lol Happy St. Patty's Day btw, love what you did there rolling the Dark Moss and wearing a green shirt. I see you. 😉
Is this the bowling center you tried to practice in about a month ago they had cosmet bowling going on during the daytime and they told you it was a two and a half hour wait time. Now I can see why you don't like this Bowling center is 10 pin hell.
I have no doubt you will make your spares, it may just be positive self talk, imagery of the line to the pins and focus (as you know you can). I have faith!!!
I’m gonna stir up trouble with this comment, but I don’t think this is “your” spare ball, Sarah. I remember when you first started throwing it, and it feels/looks like its been fighting against you since the beginning. Am I wrong?
There are always things to improve upon when we bowl. Make sure to put as much if not more focus on the good things you did. You still shot a 640 while missing all those spares that is good. I stand in the same spot and aim at the same mark for every 10 pin I shoot. That helped me get better. I went from 60% to 90% with practice to find the targets that felt most comfortable. Stay positive practice and you will do good!
I go to one bowling alley that I don't bowl leagues at just the proshop I go to is there and I don't miss 10 pins there. I go to the alleys that I bowl leagues at and I am like that miss, miss, miss stupid 10 pins
mark it up as a bad night on the spare shooting, you know how to bowl and get your spares. just in your head it happens. however im really impressed with whoever is still throwing the brunswick danger zones, those balls were great back in the day
I know my coach would have me practicing only ten pins till my hand was bleeding.Next time I started missing ten pens went and by myself to sort it out.Get the hell off the couch
some days / nights are bad. simple as that, forget it, don't let it get into your head. that's when the real trouble starts, as I'm sure you already know!
Last league night I lost us a game because I missed the 10 pin in the 10th. My opponent struck out and all I needed to do was spare and hit a pin to win and I missed the 10 pin and we lost by 1...10 pin is my nemesis.
Sarah. I’m not trying to be rude, but this has been an issue, for over a year. PWBA, Canadian trials, just to many missed make able leaves. Is the drilling on your spare ball, perhaps different?
You girls will never catch a husband by spending so much time bowling. Spend less time worrying about ten pins and more time focusing on keeping a house and cooking. A man deserves to come home to a clean house, nutritious meals, and a pretty wife.
Was Sierra throwing the Absolute ??? If so, it was looking really good ! Do you always use a spare ball ? I have never owned one, and just kill the hook like Duke and Tackett .... as to leaving the 10 pins ....if you're coming in light, either move 1-2 boards LEFT on the approach keeping the same target, or move back 4 to 6 inches keeping your eyes on same target. If coming in heavy, just do the opposite ... move 1-2 boards right or move up 4 to 6 inches, keeping your eyes on the same target ... seems to work well for me anyway. Enjoy your channel Sarah ! Glad I found it, and congrats on the 279 game !!!
